As a result, the user’s frustration is considerable. After all, why does simple software, which is officially only responsible for controlling peripherals and RGB, use so much storage space? The reason is actually simple.
Software probably doesn’t delete update files
What is the problem? The big issue with Corsair’s iCue is that the software does not delete the old version when updating, but keeps every version. This quickly produces a lot of digital junk that then blocks storage space. Additionally, there is a huge text file, the so-called logfile, which is also saved on the drive. For example, one user writes:
With every update, all previous versions are saved. These can be deleted without concern.
Many users complain and believe that it is not the user’s responsibility. After all, the software itself is responsible for deleting old versions rather than leaving them there and blocking valuable storage space.
What is the solution to the problem? Either delete all excess files or alternatively uninstall iCue, delete the entire folder, and then reinstall the software. Some users also recommend using a free alternative tool to control the RGB lighting without cluttering the PC. Specifically, it is about OpenRGB.
