A new feature moves players in Path of Exile 2 to impressively sacrifice their high-level characters – for the good of the community. For this, they are celebrated by their fellow players.
Why do players sacrifice their characters? In Path of Exile 2, since patch 0.5, players can sacrifice their characters at level 100 in an impressive ritual, which results in the character being permanently deleted. The first player to perform this sacrifice in a league is declared the “Martyr of the First Edict” and receives the unique title in return.
This sacrifice provides a direct benefit to the community: all other players in the same league receive an additional passive skill point, which they can invest in their builds. To collect this point, players must visit the location called “Site of the Chosen” at the Origin Tower.
The well-known streamer “cArn_” discovered this ritual and unwittingly performed it first in the SSF (Solo Self-Found) ladder with his Titan at level 100. As a result, he is the very first martyr of the first edict in the history of Path of Exile 2 (see pathofexile2.com). You can watch the ritual on his Twitch channel.
He was followed by other players from different leagues, making them celebrated as heroes in the community (see Reddit). You can check if there is already a martyr in your league and who your hero is in the official overview.

How is the feature received by the community? The community discusses the discovery of the feature on Reddit. They agree that the sacrifice now provides an exciting and rewarding incentive to reach level 100 as quickly as possible and also do something for the community. This way, everyone benefits from the upcoming competition for the position.

With the first players who have made it into the history of their leagues as martyrs, more will follow in the coming time. The community hopes that the feature will also remain in the next seasons.
