The developers of Path of Exile 2 are bringing a popular feature from the first part now also to the successor, which gives you free cosmetics when you grind.
What is this feature? For years, the developers of Path of Exile have been giving away free items to all players who complete certain challenges in the current league. These challenges vary in difficulty but are always designed so that all players can complete them if they put in enough grind.

Bring on the free skins
What are the developers planning now? The mentioned feature was missing in the “Early Access” version of Path of Exile 2, but it is now supposed to be made available with the upcoming expansion “Return of the Ancients” in the successor.
The release of the new expansion and the new feature is scheduled for May 29, 2026. So with the start of the new season, you can immediately start and earn skins.
What do I have to do for that? To earn the free skins, you just need to complete the challenges in the game. If you have completed enough challenges, you will receive part of the cosmetics. If you complete all the challenges, you will have unlocked the whole set.
You can see the challenges in a new menu and usually complete them quite incidentally. Sometimes, however, a specific season mechanic or a certain side boss off the beaten path must be completed to achieve an objective.
The first reward is supposed to be given after completing 3 challenges, while the entire set will only be available once all 9 challenges are completed.
The developers of Path of Exile 2 are now additionally rewarding your grind with skins. It remains to be seen whether you will also be allowed to use these skins in Path of Exile; the other way around has been possible so far.
