In Destiny 2 , players who own Shadowkeep can earn a new raid exotic – the trace rifle Divinity. We show you what the weapon can do and what makes it particularly valuable right now.

About this weapon: Divinity is a new exotic trace rifle that was recently introduced with the Shadowkeep expansion. The weapon was already leaked before the release of Shadowkeep, and many Guardians were curious about how the new exotic plays.

How do you get this new weapon? While you can get the quest for the Divinity in the open world, to obtain the weapon itself, you ultimately need to go to the raid Garden of Salvation – there is no way around it. Recently, the challenging quest at the end was fully completed by Guardians, and the rifle can thus already be earned.

What the new trace rifle Divinity can do

What makes the new exotic weapon special: Divinity is used in the energy slot, requires special ammo, and deals Arc damage.

The weapon is primarily defined by two special perks – Judgment and Atonement.

• The exotic perk Judgment envelops targets with a field that weakens and disrupts them through sustained damage with this weapon.
• The perk Atonement causes targets that remain under the influence of Judgment for long enough to receive accumulated damage.

In summary, this means that enemies receive +25% damage from all sources.

Why Divinity is so special

Why this weapon is worth it: In short – Divinity is truly unique and offers more than just good DPS for the user. But what makes Divinity so special?

On one hand, it is itself a strong weapon that can deal a lot of damage. On the other hand, it has a high utility for the entire team in the PVE content where the owner is involved. The weapon effectively overrides all new rules regarding damage buffs that Destiny 2 just set in place with the release of Shadowkeep.

What are the rules about? Destiny 2 has revamped how buffs and debuffs work with Shadowkeep.

Currently, players can have only one damage buff and debuff active at the same time. If multiple buffs or debuffs are used, the game favors the most powerful effect and no longer stacks them as it did in the past.

How does Divinity break these rules? The effect of Divinity increases all incoming damage to affected enemies by 25% (weapons, supers, abilities). Similar effects can also exist in abilities such as Weapons of Light, Well of Radiance or Tractor Cannon. However, the damage bonus from Divinity can be stacked with all damage effects in the game – and that makes the weapon special.

This means: The 25% additional damage from Divinity is added on top of every buff, debuff, or damage source applied by players, despite the new rules. This makes the weapon particularly valuable for groups and especially for endgame content like the new Nightfall challenges and the raid. Thus, it is definitely worth having a Divinity in your fireteam.

With Shadowkeep, Destiny 2 has also received a new raid: The Garden of Salvation. In this raid, many challenges and tough bosses await for 6 players. However, a group of players has completed the raid with just three members.

Who are these players? The group of guardians is centered around the well-known player and Destiny YouTuber Gladd. Gladd has already made a name for himself in the community, including mastering one of the hardest missions with a drum set.

This is what the players have achieved: Gladd and his two colleagues have mastered the new raid in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep, the Garden of Salvation. They took on the challenge with only half the recommended number of players.

For the raid, they only needed about 45 minutes. This is also less than some players with a regular 6-man team need. However, they did not earn the “First Kill”. As the first team, Ascension fully mastered the Garden of Salvation.

Three players against the probably toughest boss

Why is this such an impressive achievement? The Garden of Salvation is currently a particularly tough nut to crack for many players. Raids themselves are the pinnacle of PvE in Destiny and the most challenging content in this area.

Especially the boss “Consecrated Mind, Sol Nature” is considered very challenging. The boss requires mechanics where a group must coordinate extremely well, such as:

• Opening portals
• Defending towers
• Repelling waves of enemies that can knock out guardians with a single hit
• Dodging attacks

Additionally, the three successfully completed the raid on October 7th. That is less than three days after the release of the Garden, before the group managed to succeed as a trio.

Destiny 2 has made changes to the availability of heavy ammunition in some PvP modes. What changes await you in the Crucible and what the Guardians are saying, you can read here.

What happened? Last night, Guardians had to take an enforced break due to unscheduled emergency maintenance related to Shadowkeep. Afterwards, there was a small patch that fixed a problem with the seasonal artifact.

Besides this update 2.6.0.3, there was also an unannounced server-side fix that went unnoticed by many players as it was not listed in the patch notes. Bungie only drew attention to the forum post by community manager Cozmo on Twitter.

You do not need to download such a fix; its effects are activated for everyone as soon as they log in. And this fix adjusted the power ammunition in the Crucible.

Here’s how the changes look in PvP: The changes affect the availability of heavy ammunition and vary depending on the PvP mode. Whether you are playing with the rocket launcher Truth or machine guns, here are the key details:

• In “Control,” you can pick up heavy ammunition starting from the 45-second mark. The next time, the ammunition will spawn in 120 seconds (previously it was every 60 seconds) after picking it up.
• In “Conflict” and “Survival,” heavy ammunition will first be available starting from the 60-second mark. Then you will have to wait 120 seconds. Before the fix, heavy ammunition was already available from the 15-second mark and could be picked up every 60 seconds.

Bungie also plans to implement similar changes to the accessibility of power ammunition in the competitive mode “Survival.” These changes are expected to go live later in October.

Were the changes necessary?

What does developer Bungie say: Community manager Cozmo stated that the changes were made due to numerous feedback from the Guardians that recently emerged.

He elaborated that many players want the heavy ammunition to only be available in one round for Competitive mode. This was the case in the popular Trials from Destiny 1. However, without heavy ammunition, there would be little emphasis on map control. Once a team has a life advantage in “Survival,” the flow of the game becomes very passive.

What do the Guardians say? Players are pleased with the comparatively quick reaction from Seattle, as the feedback apparently just arose recently. A similarly swift response has already been seen regarding the ban of exotics for the World-First race in the new raid. Often, weeks or months pass before Bungie responds to the community’s change requests – if at all.

The well-known Destiny YouTuber Fallout Plays comments under the Twitter post: “You moved very quickly with this [update]. I like it.” Further positive remarks can also be found on reddit. Here, Steven_drewz succinctly states: “Thank God.”

Other users view the situation indifferently, like CookiesFTW: “Were people unhappy with the amount of heavy in quick play? It seemed more or less okay to me.”

Some Guardians see the changes to heavy ammo less positively. They are concerned, for example, about the quest for the grenade launcher The Summit. To obtain the weapon, many kills with grenade launchers in PvP must be achieved.

The concerned Guardian Oxyfire writes: “Ugh, just when I thought that The Summit would be doable.”
