Yesterday evening, the new raid “Garden of Salvation” went live in Destiny 2. It didn’t stay unbeaten for long. By night, there was a winner: a PC clan completed the raid in just over 6 hours. The Twitch stream of the winning team exploded over the course of the evening. We look at the race and the reactions.
How long did the raid last? The raid opened at 7:00 PM last night – from then on, 3 exotics were locked across Destiny 2.
At 1:22 AM last night, Bungie announced that there was a winner.
The team from Ascend earned the title of World First for the new raid in Shadowkeep. They completed the raid just 2 minutes and 33 seconds ahead of the second team.
The team needed 6 hours and 13 minutes for this.
Who won? Ascend is a PC clan, and they will now wear the specially crafted belts of the World First.
After the “big clans” such as Redeem with Twitch streamer xGladd had always won before, this time it was more unknown players from the Destiny community.

How does the time compare to other raids? The slightly more than 6 hours are pretty much the “normal raid time” for a World First in Destiny 2:
- the Leviathan raid took a similar amount of time (5 hours, 34 minutes)
- just like “Spire of Stars,” the raid area that came with Warmind (6 hours, 35 minutes)
- there was only one major outlier, that was the “Last Wish” raid, which was released with Forsaken. The World First there took 18 hours and 48 minutes
In Last Wish, teams struggled in September 2018 because they were hopelessly undergeared.
Other teams besides the winners spent more than 24 hours straight in Last Wish to complete the raid within the first day and snatch a bonus. In the end, they were standing KO, just exhausted. Just Datto went down in history as a tragic hero with his teammates.
This time, the raid was more forgiving.
This is how Bungie experienced the raid: As we’ve known for some time, the developers from Bungie gather every time for a raid in an auditorium at their headquarters in Seattle. They watch the raid live there like a movie or a football match.
After all, it’s the first time someone can test their baby outside of Bungie.
There was also applause in the room when the raid was completed.

The Twitch channel of the team exploded
What are the reactions? On reddit, people are happy that this time an “unknown team” won. The success is tied to the Twitch stream of one of the team members, which completely exploded from 12 viewers at the beginning.
The stream was broadcast live on the Twitch channel of “ExBlack”:
- He usually has 11 viewers on average
- His Twitch stream yesterday had an average of 3,500 viewers, and at the end, when it was clear that his team was about to win, the viewer count shot up to 23,291
In retrospect, there is also praise for Bungie on Reddit, that they locked the “exploit exotics.” The Ascend team deserved to win – they handled the final fight better than other streams, it is said on reddit.
