In Pokémon GO trainers can secure the new Elite TMs. They are likely to have a significant impact on the game – making everything a bit more relaxed.
These are Elite TMs: Elite TMs were introduced with the recently launched first real season of the PvP Battle League in Pokémon GO. They are part of the rewards that you can secure for participating in the league.
Trainers can secure an Elite Charged TM, for example, if they reach rank 7 or higher at the end of Season 1. The special thing about them: With the new Elite TMs, you can choose which move your Pokémon should learn. With the previous TMs, your monsters were only assigned random moves.
Furthermore, it will also be possible to teach your Pokémon moves with the new TMs that were previously only available during events like Raid Days or Community Days.
This means: If you want to evolve a Rhydon to Rhyperior and want the special move Rock Wrecker, you can easily achieve this with Elite TMs. Even if you may have missed the Community Day or couldn’t utilize it sufficiently. And that could significantly change the game.
Monsters like Rhyperior can now be upgraded retroactively
Less Stress Thanks to Elite TMs
This was the situation before Elite TMs: If you’re playing the game just for the sake of collecting Pokémon, you probably won’t notice a significant difference with the Elite TMs. However, for everyone who looks at moves, stats, and usefulness of the monsters, Elite TMs could mean a big difference.
Many of the best attackers are only useful with the right move combination. Besides gyms, raids, and Rocket battles against Giovanni and Co., there is now also the PvP League which requires not only strong stats of the best monsters – the moves are also extremely important. Therefore, the focus is increasingly shifting towards properly equipped monsters.
In the league, you need good moves
Since some moves can only be obtained during certain events, you had to stick to Niantic’s schedule. You want a Swampert with Hydro Cannon? Community Day! You wanted a Metagross with Meteor Mash? Unfortunately too late. Your Sceptile doesn’t come from Community Day and therefore hasn’t learned Flora Statue? That’s unfortunate!
If you don’t catch or evolve the right Pokémon at the right time, you also miss out on good moves. And even if you catch the right time, you still need a monster with good stats. To make it worthwhile to learn the move – so everything is quite stressful.
Swampert is quite strong – with the right move
This could change with Elite TMs: Since Elite TMs are not distributed in large quantities, they won’t completely remove the stress from the game. After all, you can only change one move – so you have to think carefully about what to use the rare items for.
But at least they allow you to get good moves outside of events. This also means that when you’re just playing normally, you might just catch a monster with perfect stats and then teach it a really good move. Thus, Elite TMs could help to ease some of the pressure of the event schedule. Which makes sense given the many events.
Fans Are Excited About Elite TMs
This is what the community says: The announcement of the new TMs is well received among players. Discussions are already underway about which monsters should get a new move first – Mewtwo is a favorite among many players. One thing is for sure: the new items will make the game more enjoyable:
“As soon as the backlog is caught up, we can stock up on special moves and not worry so much about Community Day moves. I like that. It’s long overdue,” says Reddit user Tidea, who still has a few strong Pokémon up his sleeve.
“The scarcity of Elite TMs keeps Community Days relevant. I think the purpose is for people who made mistakes by evolving their monsters too early. I think this will benefit the game in the long run,” says user Tweak8.
“My old 100% Blaziken, I can finally use it!” says user oceano7.
The Elite TMs are likely to give many players the opportunity to better equip their monsters for battles. Additionally, the Shadow Pokémon are also useful now:

To progress in the skill trees, you need to level up. Here are some tips to reach the next levels as quickly as possible.
How to reach max level – Here’s how
This is the maximum level: In Borderlands 3, you can bring your character up to level 57 with the latest update. Previously, the max level was 53. In the coming months, there will be ongoing expansions of the max level.
However, improving your character doesn’t have to stop there. Once you’ve completed the story, you can further optimize your character using the Guardian Ranks.
But reaching the maximum level will be challenging enough at first. Follow these tips to progress quickly.
Quests for leveling – What should I do first?
That’s why you should prioritize the story: The campaign not only reliably provides you with XP and increasingly stronger enemies, but it also gives you different abilities that make leveling easier.
The story will take you to bosses and new locations where stronger enemies and thus more XP await. Therefore, the fastest way to the highest level is through the main quest.
The story leads you fastest to the top level
Save side quests: The side missions in Borderlands 3 are more diverse than in previous installments and thus invite you to play. However, if you’re solely focused on leveling, you should initially set aside the side quests and focus on the main story.
This may seem surprising in the short term since side quests also grant XP. However, you can catch up on them later when you’ve reached a higher level, making them easier to handle. This allows you to farm XP faster. Alternatively, you can play the side quests after the story in Mayhem mode to align them with your level and potentially earn more XP.
Pay attention to optional objectives: In some quests, you will get optional sub-objectives. These also grant you additional XP for fast leveling. Completing collection quests, such as in the “Dead Claptraps Quest” or hunting rare monsters for Sir Hammerlock, also grants you experience points.
Take on challenges: The “Ring of Carnage” and the “Trial Grounds” offer you challenges of various difficulty levels. You can complete these repeatedly and farm decent XP. This is especially worthwhile at the Mayhem levels.
In Mayhem mode, the challenges are adjusted to your level – if you’re looking for a real challenge.
Re-challenge bosses: You can challenge some bosses in the game multiple times. The Katagawa Ball, for example, reappears when you return to the boss fight location later.
They grant you not as many XP as before, but still quite a bit. As bosses often drop good loot, it might be worth having a second look.
Some bosses provide you with experience points multiple times
Weapons and abilities for leveling
This is how you should tackle enemies: Since you gain the necessary XP for leveling up by defeating many enemies, make sure to deal as much damage as possible. If your goal is just to reach max level, choose mainly abilities that help you thin the enemy ranks.
Take as many enemies down as possible
This also applies to the weapons. Here, you can also pick up extra bonuses. Some weapons and class mods offer you XP bonuses of a few percent. While this may not constitute the bulk of your XP, it contributes to faster leveling.
Leveling in Co-op
This is the advantage of co-op: If you team up with friends instead of playing solo, you generally earn more XP. Additionally, you defeat more enemies in a shorter time, which also brings points.
With two players, you can level up faster
If you join a friend’s game who is at a significantly higher level, you can even be carried to the next level. Let your higher-level partner take down strong enemies, and you can collect the XP – then it’s especially fast for leveling in the beginning.
However, keep in mind: With this approach, you’ll probably encounter places, quests, and enemies that you’re not familiar with yet. So, beware of spoilers. This option is more useful if you want to pull a second, third, or fourth character to max level.
With these tips, you should reach the highest level as quickly as possible. If you want to know how to specifically farm Eridium, you can find out here:
In the battle PS5 vs Xbox Series X, the price will play a significant role. A leak has now shown a possible price for the Xbox Series X S model.
Where do the information come from? MSPowerUser was the first to draw attention to the leak. However, the information did not originate from the site itself, but from the Chinese site mydriver.com. There, the possible price for the new console from Microsoft appeared.
Furthermore, it is explained that Microsoft would soon officially demonstrate the performance of the new console. Specifically, it concerns the ray tracing technology of the AMD chip, which was to be presented at this year’s AMD Financial Analyst Conference.
What is the price? According to the Chinese site, the price is said to be around 300 dollars. The source suggests that the price refers to the weaker S variant of the Xbox Series X.
Xbox Series X at a competitive price – what’s included in the price
If Microsoft offers its Xbox Series X (right) at a competitive price, then Sony with its PS5 (left as concept image) may face problems.
The competitive price of 300 dollars refers to the S model of the Xbox Series X, which is the possible new entry-level model of Microsoft’s new console.
An argument for the low price would be that if Microsoft does not include a fast 4K Blu-ray drive in the inexpensive version, then the price could decrease accordingly.
This approach is most comparable to the current Xbox One S All-Digital Edition:
This is the cheapest variant of the current Xbox generation and offers the same performance as the Xbox One S.
The Digital Edition, however, does not come with a 4K Blu-ray drive.
Games can therefore only be downloaded, the multimedia function is limited in use.
Whether there will be an All Digital Edition for the Xbox Series X is still unknown.
Exotics are the flagship of Destiny 2. But how should Bungie handle the special items in the future? We want to know from you in a survey.
Exotics in Destiny: The Destiny universe is known for many things: excellent gunplay, a convoluted story, and its cult weapons. Almost every gamer around the world is familiar with terms like Gjallarhorn.
Exotics are the flagship in the arsenal of the loot shooter Destiny. In Destiny 2, there are currently almost as many Exotics as there were original Pokémon. 64 Exotic weapons and 81 Exotic armors are waiting to be used.
With every new season, like now with the Season of Worthy, the arsenal continues to grow. We wonder, what should happen to Exotics in the future?
4 Ways Destiny 2 Can Handle Exotics
For this reason, we have prepared a survey for you. In which you should decide how Bungie should handle the topic of Exotics in the future.
Option 1 – Bring back more old Exotics: In Destiny 1, there were a variety of powerful and popular Exotics, like the Gjallarhorn mentioned above. Some of the most famous weapons have already made their way to Destiny 2:
In Season 10, another Destiny 1 Exotic returns: The 4th Horseman
Option 2 – New Exotics are needed: Some Guardians criticize that the content from Destiny 1 should remain in Destiny 1. Bungie should make Destiny 2 interesting with new and exciting Exotics.
Option 3 – Dusty Exotics need a polish: The exotic collection is bursting at the seams, at least that’s what DocGomer sees. He mentioned on Reddit that Bungie should rather use the energy to revise existing Exotics.
Many of the supposedly special weapons and armors are currently not particularly special. With a little love, the dusty items would shine in new glory. Destiny 2 seems to be following this example with Season 10, as 17 old exotic armors will be adjusted.
In addition, unlocking the Masterwork Catalysts is tied to your own quests. It feels good when your favorite Exotic finally has its final form after hard work.
Participate in our survey and let us know how Destiny 2 should approach the topic of Exotics in the future. Keep in mind that you can only cast one vote.
Thank you for your participation and have fun!
How did you decide? Do you have a completely new option in mind or can you perhaps not decide? Let us know in the comments.
With the new expansion “Warlords of New York”, many changes came for the gear sets and a few new ones were added. Here you will find a list of all 10 gear sets from The Division 2.
What are gear sets? Unlike the brand equipment of The Division 2, gear sets provide you with special talents that can only be found on these sets. The more pieces you equip from one set, the more bonuses these special equipment pieces provide:
1 piece – No bonus
2 pieces – Value bonus
3 pieces – Value bonus
4 pieces – Special talent
The special bonus with 4 pieces brings a very special talent that can support your playstyle. It is also worth changing your combat behavior for some of the sets, as the talents can be really powerful. With the gear set talents on the backpack and vest, the 4-piece talent can be further enhanced.
With the major expansion “Warlords of New York“, the developers revised almost the entire equipment and the gear sets are now quite different. Here is the list of the 10 gear sets with talents.
[toc]
Striker and System Corruption – 2 of the new sets with the Warlords expansion.
How does the 4-piece bonus work? The talent “Feedback Loop” supports your skills with uptime and damage. Each time you use or destroy one of your skills, the other skill reloads, giving you 10% skill repair and skill damage for 20 seconds.
Backpack talent: Short Circuit
Reduces the cooldown of Feedback Loop from 20 to 10 seconds.
Vest talent: Positive Reinforcement
Increases the effect of Feedback Loop from 10 to 25%.
What is the Hard-Wired set suitable for? Skill builds with high skill damage and a high skill tier can benefit here. For instance, if you have the turret in one slot, you can keep refreshing and buffing your turret with the chem launcher in the second slot.
Activated Directive – Strong hollow-point ammunition with status effects
Set bonus 2 pieces: 15% status effects
Set bonus 3 pieces: 20% reload speed
How does the 4-piece bonus work? With the talent “Rules of Engagement”, enemies that you take down and are affected by a status effect drop powerful “hollow-point ammunition”. This ammunition increases weapon damage by 20% and causes bleeding on enemies.
Backpack talent: Emergency Requisition
When reloading, combat resources within 40 meters are collected (repair kits, ammunition, grenades).
Vest talent: Parabellum Rounds
Increases the damage buff of “hollow-point ammunition” from 20 to 35%.
What can Ongoing Directive do? If you like working with status effects, this might be for you. Take weapon talents that trigger status effects and at least one skill with fire or similar. The second focus should be on weapon damage to maximize the benefit of the ammo bonus.
True Patriot – Debuff fireworks and plenty of ammunition
Set bonus 2 pieces: 30% ammunition capacity
Set bonus 3 pieces: 30% magazine size
How does the 4-piece bonus work? The talent is quite crazy. When you shoot an enemy, they receive a color buff: red, white, or blue. The more you hit an enemy with a specific color, the more the effect of that color stacks. Every 2 seconds, the colors on the enemies change.
Red: Increases damage received by the enemy by 8%.
White: Hitting an enemy heals your own and allies’ armor by 5% (1 second cooldown)
Blue: Reduces the damage that this enemy deals by 5%.
If you can adorn the enemies with all colors, they explode in a 5-meter wide explosion, dealing damage in that area based on their health and armor. (Named enemies deal less damage).
Backpack talent: Patriotic Boost
Enhances debuffs: red to 12%, white to 8%, and blue to 12%.
Vest talent: Waving the Flag
Debuff rotation goes down from 2 to 1.5 seconds.
What does the True Patriot set do? The debuffs of the 4-piece talent provide significant advantages for complete teams, as the weaknesses apply to all allies. “White” even heals your team. Bring some armor and a fast-firing assault rifle, and you can significantly support your team.
Aces and Eights – Sniper poker
Set bonus 2 pieces: 15% sniper rifle damage
Set bonus 3 pieces: 20% headshot damage
How does the 4-piece bonus work? The “Dead Man’s Hand” talent can keep up with the crazy Patriot talent. When you hit an enemy with a sniper rifle, you reveal a card. Every 5 cards, the damage of the next shot increases by 30%. However, if you reveal a strong hand, the buff lasts even longer.
Quad: 4 shots
Full House: 3 shots
Aces and Eights: 2 shots
Backpack talent: Poker Face
On the first hit, you reveal 2 cards.
Vest talent: No Limit
Damage bonus increases from 30 to 50%.
What can the raid set Aces and Eights do? Since the talent only triggers when you hit enemies with a sniper rifle, you have little choice here. High weapon damage, low armor, and ready to strike from the farthest corner. A sniper set with a chance for a big damage boost.
Warning – Raid set: Backpacks and vests can only be found in the raid.
What does the 4-piece bonus do? When you hit enemies with critical hits, the talent “Crowd Control” marks enemies for 20 seconds. You can mark up to 3 targets, all of which then take damage when you land a critical hit on one of the targets. Not only does the marked target you are attacking take the damage, but the other marked targets receive 60% of the damage dealt.
If a marked target is taken out, you will receive an additional 2% critical hit damage until the end of the fight, up to a maximum of 40%.
Backpack talent: Critical Measures
Increases the damage the marked targets take from 60 to 100%.
Vest talent: Target Rich Environment
You can now mark 5 instead of 3 targets.
What does Negotiator’s Dilemma bring me? An interesting choice for Crit builds. There are several factors to consider, but if you control the “marking”, you can deal a lot of damage here. Especially enemy teams standing close together, you can wipe out easily.
Warning – Raid set: Backpacks and vests can only be found in the raid.
Tip of the Spear – Signature weapons boost damage
Set bonus 2 pieces: 10% specialization weapon damage
Set bonus 3 pieces: 10% weapon damage
What does the 4-piece bonus do? The talent “Aggressive Recon” ensures that after each kill with one of the specialization signature weapons, you have a 20% increased weapon damage for 60 seconds. Additionally, you receive ammunition for your individual weapons once every 60 seconds.
Backpack talent: Crossbow Expert
You receive an extra crossbow bolt every 60 seconds (works only with the specialization “Survivalist”).
Vest talent: Specialized Destruction
Increases the weapon damage bonus of “Aggressive Recon” from 20 to 40%.
How does Tip of the Spear work? If you enjoy using the individual weapons of the specializations, this set will help you advance. Every 60 seconds you receive one shot for the signature weapons and if you take down an enemy with it, your damage increases for a long minute. Remember to use the heavy weapons, as this set provides a significant damage boost.
Warning – Raid set: Backpacks and vests can only be found in the raid.
Foundry Bullwark – Damage brings back health and armor
Set bonus 2 pieces: 10% total armor
Set bonus 3 pieces: 3% armor per second
What happens with 4 pieces? Here, the talent “Makeshift Repairs” helps you withstand a lot of damage. If your health or armor shield takes damage, you receive 40% of the damage as healing over the next 10 seconds. The regeneration counts for armor and health.
Backpack talent: Process Refinery
Instead of 10, you receive the healing within 6 seconds.
Vest talent
You receive not only 40% but 60% of the damage as healing.
What is Foundry Bullwark suitable for? A thick tank set with a lot of potential for the frontline fighters. In a way, with this set, you take 40% less damage than with other equipment. Although you may only get it back after a few seconds, you will be continuously healed and can build up a hefty “armor per second” regeneration.
What if I have 4 pieces? If you have full armor, you and your entire team receive 15% extra weapon and skill damage through the talent “Ground Control”. Additionally, you can heal multiple allies and yourself simultaneously. When you heal a team member, everyone within a radius of 5 meters also receives 60% of the healing. This applies to yourself as well.
Backpack talent: Strategic Combat Support
The healing in the 5-meter radius increases from 60 to 120%.
Vest talent: (Name missing)
Increases the damage bonus of the 4-piece talent from 15 to 25%.
What does Future Initiative bring? This set is specifically designed for healers. It rewards careful play and buffs the team when you have no damage on the armor. Additionally, the healing extends, and you can theoretically heal the entire team at once. With a focus on skills, you get the most out of it.
Striker’s Battlegear – Rewards accuracy with lots of damage
Set bonus 2 pieces: 15% weapon handling
Set bonus 3 pieces: 15% rate of fire
What do 4 pieces bring? With the talent “Strikers Gamble”, each weapon hit increases the weapon damage by 0.5%, up to a maximum of 50 stacks. Each second, one stack disappears, and every time you miss a shot, 3 stacks erase.
Backpack talent: Risk Management
If you miss, you lose not 3 stacks but only 2.
Vest talent: Press the Advantage
You can now collect up to 100 stacks instead of 50. Your weapon damage can thus be increased by up to 50%.
What does the “Striker’s” set do? Weapon damage and precision, this set requires accuracy from you and in return provides a lot of damage. Weapons with high ammunition and high rate of fire benefit here, an LMG works well here, but an MP can also quickly fill the stacks.
What’s special about 4 pieces? Instead of a repair kit, the talent “Hackstep Protocol” gives you a new ability. Every 20 seconds, you can hide your nameplate for 5 seconds and gain 50% bonus armor during that time. You can use this ability infinitely and activate it like the repair kits.
Backpack talent: Multithreaded Execution
Increases the armor bonus from 50 to 100%.
Vest talent: Compiler Optimization
Instead of 20, the main talent’s cooldown is only 15 seconds.
When does the “System Corruption” set help? The set provides bonuses in PvP and allows you to approach combat situations with a special ability. Whether for escape or attack, “System Corruption” can be extremely useful in the Dark Zone to take a lot of damage for a short time and gain a 5-second advantage over your opponent.
Which sets hit you the hardest and which one might be better left in the box? With exotics, you can further enhance the power of the sets:
The so-called “Legacy Controls” mechanics will be removed from Fortnite with an update next week. Many have wished for this for a long time – because of Aim Assist.
When is the update coming? The update, which will also address the legacy settings, is expected to arrive on March 13. This was announced in a tweet from the developers:

Players who still have this option enabled will be reset to the new default setting. Anyone who wants to transfer their legacy settings to the new standards can still do this in the controller options before the update goes live. But why does legacy actually have to go?
That’s why legacy controls were controversial
This was the problem: The legacy controls were introduced in October when changes were made to matchmaking. The legacy settings allowed players to choose to keep old settings.
The problem: This also included an aim assist system for controllers that was a bit too strong. This was intended to only be used to offset the speed advantage of keyboard and mouse. However, players found a way to use the aim system to target enemies even through walls and bushes. This way, they could track practically invisible enemies and gain an advantage, as this video shows:

These options will no longer be available to controller users. Anyone who used the mechanics for their play style will have to come up with a new technique. Whether the new settings will result in controller players feeling at a disadvantage will be determined by the update.
Also next Friday, the new Deadpool tasks are expected to arrive. You can find the current ones here:
DPS meters are controversial in MMOs. We wanted to know your opinion on these tools, and you shared it with us.
Here’s what it was about: DPS meters are a topic in the community where opinions differ. Different large MMOs also approach these tools in different ways:
In WoW, they are allowed
In Final Fantasy XIV, they are banned
In Guild Wars 2, they are tolerated, but there are no official tools from the developer
Therefore, we asked in a survey for your opinion on DPS meters. Here are the results.
Here’s how you voted: The survey ended on March 6. A total of 1,812 of our readers participated. Each voter could only cast one vote.
The distribution of votes was as follows:
I find them useful and necessary: 44.09% (799 votes)
I am against DPS meters: 37.03% (671 votes)
They are indifferent to me: 18.87% (342 votes)
44.09% of you find such tools necessary, especially for the difficult endgame in MMOs. This opinion is thus represented by the majority of you.
However, the readers who are against a DPS meter are only narrowly trailing behind by a mere 6%. With 37.03% of all votes, the option “I am against DPS meters” comes in second place.
Even though the race was not close, the two groups surveyed, those for and against DPS meters, are quite close to each other.
With 18.87%, slightly less than one-fifth of you are indifferent towards DPS meters.
In WoW, DPS meters are part of the approved tools
These are your reasons
In the numerous comments, you told us what exactly you like or dislike about DPS meters.
Proponents of DPS meters emphasize that these tools are well-suited for players who want to improve their own performance in games. This is especially important in difficult endgame content because damage dealers need to contribute their part to the fight.
MeinMMO readers who expressed opposition to DPS meters were of the opinion that such tools promote toxic behavior in MMOs.
This is what you wrote in the comments: Many of you seem to also view DPS meters in a nuanced way. Regardless of what opinion you hold on the subject, you understand the advantages and disadvantages of the tools.
Even the MeinMMO readers who actually advocate for DPS meters and actively use them find that they can cause harm if misused.
[…] DPS meters can be useful for comparing oneself with others and constantly improving one’s build. On the other hand, I understand that it can deter casual players from raids.
Comment by KushiRecordZ
In Final Fantasy 14, I personally use a damage meter, but I find Square Enix’s stance (prohibition of the tools) very good and correct.
Comment by sirhc
According to you, the usefulness or harmfulness of these tools depends on how they are implemented in games and used by players.
They are useful when players use DPS meters to improve themselves and help others.
DPS meters are harmful when players use them to bully and attack others.
Our reader lIIIllIIlllIIlII wrote, for example:
The problem is not the DPS meters, but the problem is how you deal with the results.
I can confront people because they are not meeting their quota, or I can use it as a tool to help pinpoint weaknesses and help those people.
Can DPS meters be used “correctly”?
These were the proposed solutions: Due to the nuanced views, you also made several suggestions in the comments about how DPS meters could be integrated into MMOs without harming people.
One wish that was expressed was for developers to introduce DPS meters that only show your own damage and only for yourself.
This would give players working on their rotations and builds the necessary means without affecting other players.
Another option mentioned in the comments was to only implement DPS meters in the content where they are necessary: difficult raids and boss fights, where the damage dealers have to deliver a certain performance to master the content.
This option was also supported by readers who are generally against DPS meters.
For example, I would find it acceptable if a statistic were output by the game itself in raids at the highest difficulty level.
Comment by Threepwood
What do you think of these proposals? Do you believe there is a way to integrate DPS meters into a game “correctly”? Or do such tools always lead to toxic behavior, regardless of whether one can only see one’s own damage or that of the whole group? Let us know.
We also asked you about themes like next-gen consoles, PvP, and gender choice in MMOs. You can find the results here:
In Dead by Daylight, there is “photobombing” of a macabre kind. Survivors burst in while their teammates are being executed.
That survivors in Dead by Daylight somewhat “troll” the killers is actually part of the game’s daily routine. However, it is particularly amusing when the survivors throw themselves in front of the camera at the crucial moment to ruin the killer’s grand objective (or significantly enhance it). “Photobombing” is quite popular in Dead by Daylight as well – especially with the brutal Mori animation.
What is the “Mori animation”? In Dead by Daylight, the killer primarily kills survivors by hanging them on hooks and sacrificing them to a dark entity. Under certain conditions, however, a killer can also “take matters into their own hands” and kill a survivor on the spot. This happens through a special animation that varies for each killer – the so-called “Mori animation”, named after the offering “Memento Mori”, which first made this possible in the game.
So players “bomb” into the Mori: Actually, the Mori animation is a reward for the killer. They can take out a survivor directly, and do so in a pretty cool (but also brutal) way. However, both the killer and the victim are “trapped” in the animation for a few seconds and cannot do anything else. The remaining survivors like to take advantage of this to burst into the Mori animation.
Especially fitting is this of course with Ghostface, who actually pulls out a camera to document his latest murder.
Some survivors even make it their mission to “bomb” every Mori within a single round and even receive the killer’s approval, as can be seen from the nodding in this clip.
Each of you surely has a favorite franchise that you have been loyal to for years or that holds nostalgic memories. Over the decades, some franchises have become major players and generated substantial revenue. We present to you the most successful ones.
What are these franchises? The franchises consist of game brands that have released at least one video game. However, most of them have multiple games from one or several series.
For a quick overview of the games and their revenues, just check the table of contents:
[toc]
What criteria were used for selection? The list is based on compiled information from the English Wikipedia and various sources. In our list, we have only considered how much revenue the respective games have made. Media such as films and series are not included.
It doesn’t matter whether the franchises produce other content, their age, or where they come from. The list tracks all revenues since the existence of the respective product until 2019 (in some cases only until 2010).
Often, there are no official figures from the manufacturers, so some data may be outdated or uncertain. These are usually estimates, and we have noted the year of the last estimates. The numbers are stated in dollars.
1. Mario – about $31.5 billion (until 2019)
The brave plumber from Nintendo has been jumping across the screens of millions of households since 1981 and has since conquered arcade machines, consoles, and smartphones. The main series, Super Mario, has generated nearly $16 billion, the most money.
The Pokémon franchise is actually the most successful franchise overall with about $95 billion in revenue. However, the vast majority of this comes from merchandise, over $64 billion.
The video games are, however, the second-largest source of revenue, as handheld games Pokémon Red and Green (in Japan) were released as early as 1996. The latest entries are Pokémon Sword and Shield, and Pokémon GO is particularly popular on MeinMMO.
3. Call of Duty – about $18.1 billion (until 2019)
The CoD franchise is a bit younger than places 1 and 2, as the first part was released only in 2003. The shooter from Activision has since generated a lot of money.
The figures are still from 2019, and since then, the latest installment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, has surely sold many more copies. However, that probably won’t be enough to catch up with Pokémon, which is why it only ranks third.
This is not about the sale of the Wii console, but about the games of the Wii franchise. At the top is Wii Sports, which alone generated over $6 billion, followed by Wii Fit.
The Wii games caused quite a stir at the time, as they could combine movement, sports, and video gaming at home. This is likely one of the reasons for the success.
5. Pac-Man – about $14.1 billion (until 2016)
Pac-Man is one of the classics of video games. The small yellow circle that diligently gulps down pills and avoids ghosts has delighted millions of players since 1980. The original first part for arcades alone brought in nearly $13 billion.
6. Space Invaders – about $13.9 billion (until 2017)
Space Invaders is the oldest franchise on our list. It was released in 1978 and has produced only this one title. Remarkably enough, it has managed to generate such enormous sums.
As one of the very first video games, it’s not surprising, as Space Invaders, along with Pong, ushered in the golden age of arcade games.
7. Dungeon Fighter Online – about $13.4 billion (until 2019)
Many players in Germany do not even know Dungeon Fighter Online, although it is one of the 5 most successful PC games in the world in 2019. The beat ’em up is particularly popular in Asia, especially in China.
Dungeon Fighter Online primarily makes its money through microtransactions and the sale of cosmetics.
8. CrossFire – about $12 billion (until 2019)
Similar to Dungeon Fighter Online, CrossFire is also one of the most successful PC games in 2019, although hardly anyone here knows it. The shooter, released in 2007, is particularly popular in South Korea and China, but it received a special version for the West.
9. FIFA – about $11.5 billion (until 2019)
The FIFA series, which has been released annually since 1993, is the most successful sports game ever. Initially developed for the Sega Mega Drive, fans now play it on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and many other (and older) platforms.
Especially the multiplayer part and the fact that real players are represented in the game with cards always fascinates fans anew. The latest installment, FIFA 20, was released on September 27, 2019.
Many fans rave about the ever-new player cards.
10. Street Fighter – about $11.3 billion (until 2018)
The fighting game from Capcom is probably the most famous beat ’em up ever. Since 1987, players have been beating each other up on arcade machines or consoles and online.
Only slightly behind Capcom is the legendary Warcraft series, which started as a real-time strategy game in 1994 and reached its provisional peak with World of Warcraft. In our list, it is thus the most successful MMO and MMORPG.
Alone, WoW had almost $10 billion in revenue as of 2017 (via gamerevolution). However, the huge success of WoW Classic in August 2019 is not yet calculated, which could potentially push the franchise even ahead of Street Fighter, and possibly FIFA in our list. However, current numbers are still missing.
12. Final Fantasy – about $11 billion (until 2019)
The Asian video game series is just slightly behind Warcraft but has been providing entertainment since 1987. The main series alone now includes 17 titles, including the successful MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV Online.
Final Fantasy entertains not only with its games but also with movies and many guest appearances in iconic games like Kingdom Hearts.
13. League of Legends – about $10.1 billion (until 2019)
The free-to-play MOBA League of Legends has only existed since 2009 but has managed to establish itself extremely successfully in its genre. Developer Riot has apparently been able to milk the game so well that six new games are in development.
The gameplay itself isn’t an innovation. It originally came from the Warcraft III mod “Defense of the Ancients.” LoL has only been able to implement this principle the best and most successfully. Added to that are dozens of its own champions and features – such as the recently introduced “Eternals”.
14. Grand Theft Auto – about $10 billion (until 2019)
GTA is likely a name known to every gamer on every platform. The series has been known for its wild humor since its first release in 1997. Players take on the role of a (petty) criminal who causes all sorts of mischief and earns money illegally.
The Lineage series enjoys its greatest success in its home country of Korea. Although some new entries are in development, it seems that there is some trouble with Lineage 2.
16. Monster Strike – about $8.2 billion (until 2019)
Monster Strike is reminiscent of a mix of Pokémon and Bubble Bobble with a touch of JRPG. The mobile game, first released in 2013, has achieved tremendous success and is the highest-grossing mobile app of all time (via sensortower).
The physics-based game can be played simultaneously by up to four players. It also offers a version for the Nintendo 3DS.
17. Puzzle & Dragons – about $7.8 billion (until 2019)
Just a year before Monster Strike, Puzzle & Dragons was released and was still the most successful mobile game until 2018. In terms of gameplay, it is reminiscent of the more well-known Candy Crush in the West.
Like Monster Strike, Puzzle & Dragons is also available for the 3DS. Both games are particularly successful in Japan and other Asian countries, which makes them even bigger than Pokémon GO.
18. Candy Crush – about $7.5 billion (until 2019)
Just slightly behind the Asian competitors, the browser and mobile game Candy Crush from Swedish developer King (now part of Activision Blizzard) is for many the epitome of casual games.
19. Honor of Kings/Arena of Valor – about $6.8 billion (2019)
Arena of Valor (in China: Honor of Kings) is a mobile MOBA released in 2015 by gaming giant Tencent that has been incredibly successful, especially in China. Even in 2019, it was the most successful mobile game in the world.
20. Westward Journey – about $6.5 billion (until 2018)
Fantasy Westward Journey and Westward Journey Online 2 are the two games belonging to the franchise from NetEase. The first game in the series was released in 2001. After a disastrous launch of the second part, it had to be relaunched but is now one of the most successful PC games in 2019, along with Dungeon Fighter and CrossFire.
In 2015, a mobile version for iOS and Android was also released, which was able to increase total revenue by more than half in a very short time.
21. Dragon Quest – about $6.2 billion (until 2019)
Another gem from earlier times is Dragon Quest from 1986, when the first game in the series was released. It represents a series of Japanese role-playing games that has also found many fans in the West.
Unlike many other mobile games, Clash of Clans is popular worldwide. The game earns revenue through the sale of gems. While they are not necessary for the game, they speed up the process. Many players utilize this “pay-to-convenience” feature.
23. Sonic the Hedgehog – about $6.3 billion (until 2019)
The Sonic franchise is Sega’s flagship. The first installment, Sonic the Hedgehog, was released in 1991 for the Mega Drive. The franchise itself has generated over $5 billion.
However, it should be noted that an additional $1.25 billion came from the “Mario & Sonic” games. These revenues count toward both Sonic’s and Mario’s total revenues.
Note: The Wikipedia list still places the Digimon franchise before Sonic. However, the largest revenues here come from merchandise and subsequently from digital sales and manga. Games account for only $90 million.
Even in 2020, Sonic is still doing well in newer installments.
Star Wars itself, however, is much larger. As a whole media franchise, Star Wars has generated about $70 billion so far. In our list, it would thus rank ahead of Mario – but still behind Pokémon across all media. Overall, it ranks fifth worldwide (via Wikipedia).
25. Dragon Ball – about $6 billion (until 2019)
The Dragon Ball series has released 64 games on 20 platforms since 1986, starting from the Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System) to the PS4 and Nintendo Switch.
Recently, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot was released, which came to the PC, adding to the otherwise console-heavy franchise. This has not yet been included in the statistics. The revenues from Shōnen Jump (manga, $217 million) are also not accounted for, which would put Dragon Ball ahead of Star Wars.
Dragon Ball is known for exaggerated strength and fierce battles.
26. Pro Evolution Soccer/Winning Eleven – about $5.8 billion (until 2019)
The probably biggest (or only) competitor of FIFA, Pro Evolution Soccer, ranks at least in position 26 on our list.
As the only other sports game, the 1995-released PES (known as Winning Eleven in Japan) alone generated nearly $1.2 billion. Worldwide, an additional $4.3 billion came in. PES also has a mobile spin-off.
Halo is Microsoft’s flagship game and one of the probably most famous game series ever. The series is particularly known as a top-notch shooter for the Xbox and for its multiplayer battles, which are still popular today.
The Master Chief Collection has impressed many players.
28. The Sims – about $5 billion (until 2019)
The simulation game series The Sims by EA has been making virtual people run around our screens since 2000. The series consists of four main titles, five spin-offs, and several mobile and handheld entries.
The surprise hit Fortnite, released in 2017, only achieved major breakthroughs with its free-to-play mode “Battle Royale” that took the gaming world by storm. Since then, it has been unstoppable and wears the crown of the genre.
Fortnite’s success, especially stems from its constant influx of content. Weekly patches are released, and new seasons come regularly with more content that often changes the map or the entire game. Currently, Chapter 2, Season 2 is running.
30. Assassin’s Creed – about $4.1 billion (until 2016)
The Assassin’s Creed series has been telling the story of the Assassins and Templars as well as the protagonist Desmond Miles and others related to him since 2007. The games impress with interesting parkour gameplay, stealth elements, historical backgrounds, and great graphics.
Currently, Assassin’s Creed Origins, Rebellion, and Odyssey, which is also available on Google Stadia, are missing from the calculations. Odyssey was quite successful, so it is possible that Assassin’s Creed actually ranks before Fortnite.
Was there anything surprising about this list? Did you find titles you didn’t expect, or are there any you miss? Let us know in the comments!
Perhaps 2020 will offer something else that could threaten the top 30 with a mega success:
The Ferox is one of the new creatures in ARK Genesis that cannot be easily tamed. We will tell you where to find these little rascals and how to tame them.
Also, the Ferox, the cute little creature with big eyes, needs to be fed to be tamed. This places it alongside the Bloodstalkers and the Giant Turtles, which also want something to eat from you.
You need Element – here’s how to get it
Before you set out to find a Ferox, you need the right food. Element is one of the favorite foods of these little creatures and is not so easily obtained in Genesis.
Here’s how it works: You need 4000 Hexagons, the currency in ARK Genesis, with which you can teleport and buy items from the drone HLN-A. And that’s exactly what you do. Open the shop and buy Element twice. You won’t need more per Ferox.
The best location for Ferox
The Ferox are native to the snow biome of Genesis and can be found all over there. However, they rarely appear, are hard to spot in the snow, and can easily be killed by hostile creatures.
Within the snow biome, there is a small Ferox cave where you can find the little creatures. It is located at the coordinates 70.7 – 26.1. Watch for a terminal right in front of the cave.
How to tame a Ferox
Once you have found a Ferox, equip the Element in the feeding slot, which is the right quickslot of your inventory.
Approach the Ferox and feed it. It will transform into a werewolf-like creature and attack anything it finds. So first, get away, but don’t take your eyes off the Ferox. Once the Element loses its effect after a short duration, it will transform back. If you repeat the procedure one more time, the Ferox will belong to you.
To transform the Ferox, you must feed it Element. Otherwise, meat as food is sufficient.
Warning: If you give it too much Element, you will lose control, and the Ferox will attack both friend and foe.

A “new” puzzle in WoW Classic is currently keeping players busy. They are trying to figure out what this crazy parrot actually wants …
World
of Warcraft Classic is a pretty old game – it actually has been around for 15 years. But now the community is on the trail of a possible puzzle that players might have overlooked all this time. There’s lively discussion about this topic in the WoW Classic subreddit, and many players are contributing their possible theories and solutions.
What is it about? The starting point is a parrot in the Burning Steppes. Near a cave in the north, you can find the parrot “Opus”, who keeps saying various sayings. Among these is the exclamation: “Opus wants some Cuergos Gold … with worm.”
The parrot “Opus” could be the last puzzle of WoW Classic.
Cuergos Gold with worm is a special item that can only be obtained at a single location in the game and only has a very low drop chance. The fact that the parrot talks about it from the other side of the world is suspicious for many players.
Where do you get the item? The aforementioned Cuergos Gold with worm can be obtained by players with a lot of luck in Tanaris. They first have to piece together parts of a treasure map from the pirates. Afterwards, they follow the map to a place guarded by several pirates. These drop a key to complete the quest. In the reward box for the quest, there is only an 11% chance of finding the drink “Cuergos Gold with worm”. It is unique but not soulbound, meaning it can be passed to other players or sold at the auction house.
This is how players proceed: Currently, there is a PTR for WoW Classic. Players are taking advantage of this to copy their character from the live server to the PTR, thereby creating several units of the item “Cuergos Gold with worm”. When copying the character, the inventory is also transferred, allowing players on the PTR to try out how to use Cuergos Gold with worm. So far, they have tried to give the drink to the parrot in some way or to drink it themselves while using emotes. However, this has not yet led to any results.
This fuels the puzzle search: There are many reasons why players do this. On the one hand, they find it extremely exciting to find another riddle in an old game that has been considered fully solved for over a decade. On the other hand, there is often talk of a developer who is said to have stated that “a puzzle in WoW has never been found” – whether this really refers to this parrot and its drink preference remains to be seen.
Will they find the key to the puzzle?
Additionally, there is the fact that Blizzard introduced an NPC named “Warp-Huntress Kula” years later, who shares a sentence exactly with Opus. Almost as if Blizzard wants to draw attention to the fact that something has not yet been discovered.
Whether the puzzle will be solved – or whether there is even a puzzle – remains to be seen. The players are certainly eager and currently feverishly trying to solve the puzzle somehow.
Do you think it’s cool that players are still tackling such a puzzle? Or do you believe there is no puzzle at all, and the players are just chasing a false lead?
The action RPG Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem introduced various improvements to the game with the update 1.0.8.0 on March 6. Bugs were fixed, bosses were weakened, and the endgame was made fairer. However, player opinions are divided.
What’s happening: The developers of the action RPG Wolcen plan to polish their game in the coming months. This was confirmed by our sister magazine GameStar in an interview. Players shouldn’t expect new content until then, but rather some bug fixes and changes to the game balance.
Wolcen is improving
The new patch 1.0.8.0 from March 6 does exactly that; bug fixes and changes to the endgame.
Some of the notes make players jump for joy:
The annoying inventory bug, which recognized a right-click as a left-click, has been fixed.
Staff attacks now hit large monsters and bounce correctly.
Auto-shots with bows and pistols now work as intended.
Gold and affinity no longer spontaneously disappear upon login.
Summoners can now see the health bars of their pets.
Tier 15 weapons and Tier 4 accessories can now be equipped from level 50 instead of 60.
Mean bosses finally fixed
With the patch, bosses especially have received a significant reduction in difficulty. Many boss modifiers have been weakened to make encounters easier for players.
Boss health reduced from 75% to 30% due to the “Tough” modifier.
The “Regeneration” modifier for bosses has been disabled.
The following boss modifiers now appear 20% less frequently: Fast, Tough, Filled with Fire, Filled with Frost, Filled with Lightning, Filled with Physical, Filled with Bleeding, Filled with Holy, Filled with Shadow, Filled with Poison, Filled with Aether, Powerful, Elemental Shield, Material Shield, Occult Shield.
All other boss modifiers now appear more frequently.
The bosses no longer have overly strong modifications
In the endgame, the bosses have also received various adjustments:
The bosses in the final floor now summon only half as many monsters. This applies to the following bosses: Alpha Svriir, Devourer, Demon of Souls, Alastor, Sadistic Smasher, Pacified Exoskeleton, Aurora Knight, Demon of Flesh, Justiciar, and Ancient Guardian.
The cooldown of the summoning abilities of the bosses in the final floor has been increased from 20 to 60 seconds.
These bugs annoy the players
Although the patch generally makes the game better and fairer, not every player is happy with it. Some decisions by the developers are considered mistakes, and the update also brings some issues.
The cost of the legendary reagent “Seeker Expedition” has increased: It now costs 30,000 gold and 20,000 productivity, just like the reagent upgrade from the Black Market.
Legendary items can no longer be included in the “Rarity Upgrade Project” of the Black Market.
Reddit user Granderx says:
Have you ever thought that there is a chance that the Seeker Expedition fails while it always works from the Black Market? I see no fix here anywhere. Explain to me now why I should use the expedition.
There is also a bug with the legendary upgrades. The developers apparently did not fix the rarity upgrades but the quality upgrades. A small mix-up that, however, affects the game in the endgame. Players can no longer enhance the quality level of their legendaries.
Patch 1.0.8.0 also brought bugs
Reddit user Wolvpoe also reports a bug that deletes the portals in the expeditions. Players cannot continue or return to town and must restart Wolcen. As a result, they lose their productivity and loot from the expedition, which they need for the endgame.
The developers will likely need to provide a hotfix to address the issues that have arisen.
A funny situation for LoL professionals of the LCS. After a victory in League of Legends, they are no longer allowed to celebrate with the fans. The reason for this decision is the coronavirus.
The outbreak of the coronavirus (Covid-19) is increasingly affecting daily life and large events. Esports events in the West are now also being affected, as some professionals from League of Legends are experiencing. They are no longer allowed to have close contact with fans after a match.
What’s it about? After a victory in League of Legends (and many other sports), it is common to walk past the cheering crowd, shake a few hands, or high-five a row of fans – the typical “High Five” gesture for a successful match. However, this has now been officially prohibited by the LCS, the US-LoL league. The reason for this is the coronavirus, which is currently spreading around the world. In a statement, it says:
Out of an abundance of caution due to the outbreak of the coronavirus, we will be suspending all fan meet-and-greets, victory high-fives, and handshakes after victories until further notice.

How serious is the coronavirus? The exact consequences of the coronavirus are still uncertain. Expert estimates vary widely. Currently, it is estimated that the mortality rate is around 1% – 2% – which would mean that in the worst case, 1 in 50 infected individuals would die from the virus and its complications.
From this perspective, it is understandable why the LCS is reacting in this way and wants to limit the contact between professionals and fans. This is to better protect everyone from the spread of the virus.
What do you think about the measures taken by the LCS? An exaggerated thing? Or just right to better protect both fans and players?
The virus has also caused a queasy feeling for our author Schuhmann – however, in the context of another game:
The PvP league in Pokémon GO was an entry point into trainer battles for our author Noah, but the numerous bugs are causing great disappointment right now.
I was never a fan of the PvP mode in Pokémon GO. However, the new league has introduced me to trainer battles, and I gradually started to enjoy the fights against other players.
But I haven’t touched the PvP mode for two weeks now. Too many bugs ruin my fun and spoil any chance of a fair fight.
The worst part: Pokémon GO hasn’t changed anything about it in a month but just lets it happen.
PvP league is full of bugs and Niantic is doing nothing about it
This bug drives me insane: The list of errors is long. I’m particularly affected by the error with quick moves. A Dialga with Fire Spin, for example, cannot constantly use the quick move and keeps lagging.
The charged move also cannot be used quickly; you often have to click multiple times to use it.
It is especially annoying when my Dialga with over 4000 CP is defeated by a Dialga with under 3000 CP. My opponent apparently has no issues with the bug in this case.
What other bugs are there? Trainers report various issues with the PvP league:
You can’t even get into the battle and instead lose directly
The rewards can sometimes not be claimed at all
The lower screen sometimes doesn’t respond in battle, so you cannot use a charged move
Opponents can use more than 2 shields
There are many more problems. They show that Niantic has a lot to do before the PvP league can leave its testing phase and the first season in Pokémon GO starts.
What bothers me the most: I fully understand that there are bugs and that especially in the testing phase not everything runs smoothly. But the number of bugs and the low willingness to act from Niantic is disappointing for me.
How can it be that for almost a month you can’t effectively use Pokémon with quick moves, even though they belong to the best monsters in the league? For me, there is no fair fight here and as long as Niantic does not fix these issues or at least noticeably change something, the league and thus the PvP mode have become totally uninteresting for me again.
Some good Pokémon from the Master League are hardly usable due to bugs
What does Niantic say about the bugs? There is little from the developers on this. On their website, they write that they are aware of the bug with quick moves and intend to fix it in an upcoming update.
On reddit , a delighted player shared this news and wrote that Niantic wants to finally fix the bugs in the upcoming update. The developers responded and only said that this does not necessarily happen in the next update but only in one of the upcoming updates. They even took away the slight breeze of hope.
The situation regarding the PvP league is not looking good. Many trainers are frustrated due to all the bugs. For example, Tobiasz95 says on reddit: “The PvP league is currently unplayable and Niantic simply does not care.” It remains to be seen whether Niantic can turn the tide by the first season start.
In my opinion, the raids in Pokémon GO also need a fundamental overhaul:
The hardest players in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare show their diligence and dedication with special weapon skins, the camos in Platinum and Damascus. To obtain the skins, hundreds of gameplay hours in CoD: MW are necessary. A new tier is set to come soon.
What are these rewards? Rare skins in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are a reward for players willing to invest a lot of time. They are cosmetic enhancements for the items.
Anyone wanting such a weapon skin must endure a lot.
It is arduous to grind for the skins, as numerous challenges must be completed for each of the special skins. Just to obtain a Gold skin, players must unlock all spray categories for a weapon. For each weapon, they must complete specific challenges, such as headshots or collecting kills while crouching.
Once all challenges for a weapon are completed, the Gold skin is awarded. But that is only the beginning.
For the Platinum skin, all Gold skins for a weapon class are required. For the Damascus skin, all Platinum skills in the game are needed.
If you’re still bored after 800 hours …
How long has this been going on now? In November, it was assumed that it takes “about” 600-800 kills with a weapon to achieve Gold status. From Infinity Ward, it was stated that approximately 18 hours of gameplay can be expected for each Gold skin.
For the Damascus skin, players calculated it then to about 702 hours, which would be approximately 30 days of pure playtime in CoD: MW, during which various challenges needed to be completed with different weapons.
This is what Infinity Ward says now: Heavy users in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have expressed a desire for even more skins. They have also gone through the hard challenges by now, as they have had time since October and needed only “700 hours”.
The Art Director of Infinity Ward, Joel Emslie, has now confirmed on reddit that a new “Master Camo” will be coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. This is expected to happen by the end of March or early April.
It is still unclear how players will earn the new “Master Camo”. It should, however, come through challenges. Players will not have to purchase it in the cash shop.
Infinity Ward has confirmed that Master Camo is a new tier and will not replace Damascus. The developers assured that they never want to remove a skin from the game. Infinity Ward only wants to bring in new camos.
This sounds like there will be plenty to grind for. If anyone is still bored after 800 hours of grinding in CoD MW, there’s now something to look forward to.
The survival MMO Rust is causing frustration for solo players with a new feature. New surveillance cameras make it impossible to sneakily grab good loot.
This is what’s happening: With the CCTV update from March 5th, a new feature has made its way into the PVP survival MMO Rust, making it particularly difficult for lone wolves. Surveillance cameras.

Players could already build them for turrets, but they didn’t have any further use until now. That has changed. The surveillance cameras can be placed throughout the game world. With an ID code, players can control the cameras from a computer station.
This is the problem: The feature may not sound problematic at first, as the cameras can also be destroyed and players mainly use them to monitor their own base.
The developers at Facepunch Studios have published a few coded codes for fixed installed cameras on their website:
Resourceful players have already cracked most of the codes and are using them.
Rust’s loot hotspots are monitored, players are frustrated
The fixed and currently indestructible cameras are part of the monuments scattered around Rust. These are areas that promise especially good loot and are also visited by solo players.
One of the many monuments in Rust
Normally, these spots are controlled by larger groups, and anyone who approaches them is shot. However, solo players could use the night to sneakily grab the loot. With the cameras, this is now much harder.
reddit user 7HSp6fXcXeXw perfectly describes the situation: “It will make solo gaming a nightmare. We can no longer sneak through the map puzzles because large groups are waiting to ambush everyone.”
reddit user CreepyPierce is far from happy: “Haha, another hit for solo players. I swear to God, it will come to the point where the rest of the small groups (2-3) switch to a trio server instead of dealing with these disgusting bullshit clans that monitor monuments around the clock.”
Players are already demanding on reddit for a way to at least temporarily destroy these cameras. Whether Facepunch Studios will grant this request remains to be seen.
Do you want to experience The Division 2 in a truly dark and intense way? All it takes is changing a small setting in the game’s options. Suddenly, especially at night, the atmosphere is completely different. This is exactly how I imagine the post-apocalypse.
I am Sven Galitzki, shooter writer at MeinMMO, and I have been not only an enthusiastic Destiny guardian but also a diligent hobby agent since the launch of The Division 1.
However, despite having spent countless hours in both Division installments, I (unfortunately) only discovered an interesting graphic setting shortly before the launch of Warlords of New York that significantly changed my gameplay experience with just one keystroke.
This is the setting in question: In the graphics options of The Division 2, there is a setting called “Neutral Lighting” where you can choose between “On” and “Off”. By default, this graphic feature is off.
If this setting is new to you and you’re hearing about it for the first time, I highly recommend giving it a try at least once. For some, it could literally cast the game in a completely different light.
Here you can turn the neutral lighting on or off
What exactly changes with this setting? According to the description, it says: “Disables various lighting enhancements. Only recommended if playing in a poorly lit room.”
The second part is certainly true. You should only enable neutral lighting if you’re playing in the dark – preferably at night.
However, if one thinks that the game would look worse now because you are turning off “numerous lighting enhancements”, that’s not really the case.
While the graphics of the game are certainly a matter of taste, The Division 2 looks much more realistic with neutral lighting activated – especially at night and in dark rooms.
Neutral lighting off
By default, The Division 2 does not just use actual light sources like lamps, spotlights, or muzzle flashes – almost every object, surface, and material – even the sky – are artificially illuminated as if through some kind of Instagram filter.
This may not be immediately noticeable, but once you turn off these additional light effects by activating neutral lighting, the difference becomes clear quickly. Only genuinely luminous objects then serve as light sources, making the game appear exponentially more realistic, especially in the dark.
Neutral lighting on
Now only lamps, all kinds of fire, reflections, the sun, the moon, or the orange-glowing agent equipment provide light. Even the flashlight attachment for pistols now truly serves a purpose and becomes an important helper.
In short: What wouldn’t light up in real life is turned off with neutral lighting. You’re not turning off any enhancements in principle, but rather removing an artificial mask that, in my opinion, robs the game of unnecessary atmosphere.
This is what it looks like: While graphics are always a matter of taste, in my view, The Division 2 looks absolutely stunning with neutral lighting.
Deep into the night: Neutral lighting off
During the day, you may not notice many differences, but upon closer inspection, they also become apparent during the day. But as the day nears its end, The Division 2 looks completely different.
Everything is much darker, the night is truly pitch black when you are in poorly lit areas, the night sky is now pitch black and not bluish-gray.
Sometimes you hear enemies before you see them or recognize them by the glow of equipment pieces or at the very latest by the muzzle flash.
Deep into the night: Neutral lighting on
The gunfights look simply fantastic and feel much more intense.
Some might think now that you could just lower the brightness, but that’s not what neutral lighting does. It simply removes artificial light sources. Everything that is lit still shines brightly. But everywhere light doesn’t reach, it now looks considerably more realistic.
This is exactly how I imagine the apocalypse in New York (and in Washington) – a city that invites exploration during the day, yet at night appears dark and threatening, and no longer shines brightly everywhere and at all times.
Now you really need the flashlight more often
By the way, the map at night with neutral lighting looks just cool. And the flashlight will become your new best friend in certain areas.
Who should try this? This setting is not for everyone – that’s for sure. But if you enjoy realistic lighting, especially at night and in dark rooms, and value a gripping atmosphere and an intense experience – then you should definitely give this graphic option a try.
If you don’t like it, a click is enough, and everything will be back to normal. But perhaps this one keystroke can also give you an extra thrill of the entire post-apocalyptic atmosphere that you, like me, won’t want to live without.
Here you can see how the activated neutral lighting affects closed spaces:

Have you already known this graphic setting? What do you think about it? Can you, like me, not return to the regular setting? Or does neutral lighting not appeal to you?
In the battle royale shooter Apex Legends there was a great PR stunt by the developers. They created the character Forge, only to kill him off immediately. Now it is said that this was mainly done to mislead dataminers. Months in advance, deliberately false information was spread.
He got the full treatment: a backstory, cool images, blog posts. He looked absolutely real.
It was particularly authentic because dataminers had already found this character “Forge” in a patch in November 2019 and leaked a full list of his supposed abilities.
It was actually clear: This would be the new legend for Season 4 of Apex Legends, which would start in February. There was no big surprise left: Even the abilities were already known from the relevant leaks.
That was pretty cool at the time and attracted a lot of attention for the game.
That was the moment when Forge went down in history.
Planned for months to mislead dataminers
This is what the developers say now: In an interview with Dotesports, the developers say:
The idea originated because they were frustrated with dataminers who had already “stolen the secrets and shown them to the public” in 2019:
Honestly, it started as a funny way to mislead dataminers. At the time, we felt they had already decrypted our next legend and spoiled the surprise for us.
We actually intentionally leaked the wrong concept art and details of Forge in a patch to create a breadcrumb trail until the moment we revealed him.
Jason McCord
The design director Jason McCord says: That was pretty crazy. He can’t remember any game that did something like that.
With the stunt, Respawn is visibly satisfied: It is said that the “leak” about Forge had confused dataminers and distracted them from the actual trail.
The stunt with Forge was so well-prepared and successful that some players still believe that Forge will return as a playable legend in Apex Legends.
But McCord says: “Forge is super-dead.” They didn’t even design a model for Forge.
The poor boxer Forge was apparently only intended as bait for dataminers from the beginning and ended up being a really clever PR stunt for Apex Legends.
The content in World of Warcraft is still fresh, but soon a drought period will arrive. We will reveal how you will handle the content drought.
In World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth, a content drought is looming. It will still be a few months until the release of the next expansion Shadowlands – after all, the beta has not started yet. We wanted to know a few days ago how you deal with the content drought and received numerous responses from you. Here is now the evaluation of how you will handle the content shortage in WoW.
Only 4% hope for the Shadowlands Beta
This point in the survey particularly surprised us. Only 4% of you indicated that you hope to get into the WoW: Shadowlands beta during the content drought. A beta is always a great event and gives – more or less – exclusive insights into the future of World of Warcraft.
Many contents can thus be played and tested before release, and player feedback could help guide the developers down another path. But apparently, only 4% of you are eager to be a part of this process.
Why is that? Isn’t the Shadowlands setting appealing to you, or do you want to avoid spoiling the contents that will come in the future? You may feel free to answer that in the comments. You can find the registration for the Shadowlands Beta here.
Shadowlands is set to be the next big WoW expansion.
Play WoW Classic in the meantime
Every 10th of you has indicated that you will simply fill the content drought of World of Warcraft with another game – namely with even more World of Warcraft! You simply switch to WoW Classic and play the retro version of the MMORPG in the meantime. This is also tactically smart, as WoW Classic will release new content like Zul’Gurub, Ahn’Qiraj, or later Naxxramas in the coming months.
So there are plenty of “fresh” contents to experience. Perfect for nostalgia fans and everyone who wasn’t present live when these contents were still considered current content.
Catch up on old content (Transmogs, Achievements, Pets)
Even more players, namely 13%, are using the content drought to take a look at old content at leisure and finally tackle unfinished business. Various types of content, such as collecting transmog gear in old raids, obtaining achievements and their respective rewards, or simply collecting and leveling battle pets are on the agenda.
After all, the content drought is the perfect time to complete such content, as there is no “mandatory program” to chase to keep up with the current equipment level. Although you still have to upgrade the legendary cloak every week, it only takes a few minutes.
So writes Angela Ziegler on Facebook:
There’s so much to do … finally a little time in-game to actually play the game and not always have to chase something to keep up with others. I’m looking forward to the 7 months and then the new addon 🙂
Rank 3: Playing Twinks and preparing for Shadowlands
Exactly 15% of you have other plans for the content drought and are turning to twinks and secondary characters. Now there is enough time to bring all chars to level 120 (before they are then reduced to level 50). This way, with the launch of Shadowlands, you can look back on a large repertoire of characters and choose the main character that you like best.
Luke Gaier writes about this on Facebook:
Oh, with 18 level 120s and some twinks there’s still plenty to do in 7 months 🙂 And if not, I’ll just take a quick look in-game and say “Hello” to the guild.
Leveling twinks? Now is a good time.
René Weiland is pursuing such a goal:
I play much slower anyway and almost always alone. So there’s enough time to catch up. I will also level/equip twinks, collect achievements/transmogs/mounts/pets and skill professions.
It’s not exciting for many, but there’s always something to do.
Rank 2: Continue playing and improving the main character
Completely undeterred by the content drought are a solid 21% of our readers. They have stated that they will simply continue to play their primary character and continuously improve it. After all, there are various ways to gain additional levels for the Heart of Azeroth or strong items with corruption effects to squeeze out a few more percent of performance from the character.
Even the most difficult challenges, such as Ny’alotha on mythic, still pose a great hurdle for most players that needs to be overcome.
Rank 1: Play another game
The largest group of you, namely 29%, will turn their backs on World of Warcraft during the content drought and use the time elsewhere. After all, there are many other games that need to be played at last.
In the comments, you repeatedly mentioned titles that are already on the waiting list and need to be played through. From single-player titles to other MMOs or online shooters, there was everything.
