The Space Whale Astrocetus is one of the most fascinating dinos in ARK Genesis. A giant, flying whale in space is something special even for ARK. We will tell you how to tame an Astrocetus.
The Space Whale is one of the dinos that you should tame more in the endgame of Genesis. The whole procedure is simple, but it requires some preparation.
Here you can find the Space Whale
The Astrocetus is native to the Lunar biome and flies around in space. To safely search for the Space Whale there, you need to prepare accordingly. The sun is your enemy and can quickly cost you your life. So craft a radiation protection suit in the Fabricator.
For the crafting you need:
- 155 Hide
- 235 Fiber
- 85 Blue Gems
- 72 Polymer
- 166 Crystals
- 125 Balls of Eerified Glass
With that you are equipped for the search for the Astrocetus for now.
The best methods for taming the Astrocetus
Currently, various methods are circulating to tame an Astrocetus. We will show you the best methods that you can use on any server at this time.
Method 1: With the TEK Hover Skiff
The best method works with a TEK Hover Skiff. However, you will only unlock the transport vehicle after you have completed enough missions and finished the last task of your HLN-A drone. You must defeat the final boss of Genesis Part 1. You build the Tek Hover Skiff at the Fabricator.
For the crafting you need:
- 168 Element
- 4100 Metal Ingots
- 372 Polymer
- 50 Crystals
- 62 Oil
- 268 Electronics
Once you have the skiff, place a simple cannon on the front or back. Look for a Space Whale, shoot it with a rifle so that you are pursued, and aim the cannon at its head. In the low level range, you only need a good hit to knock out the whale. Body shots do not count.
Method 2: With primitive means
If you want to have a Space Whale before you defeat the Genesis final boss, there is another method that follows the same principle.
Build a tower in the Lunar biome near a Space Whale and place a cannon facing each direction at the top. Shoot the whale with a rifle to get its attention and then try to hit its head with the cannons.
But let it come close enough, otherwise you will have trouble reaching it afterwards.
Method 3: Rocket Launcher and Bloodstalker
Equipped with a rocket launcher, go into the Lunar biome with your Bloodstalker and look for a Space Whale. Once you find one, jump until you are near it. Each jump consumes stamina, so level up your Bloodstalker accordingly.
Shoot the Astrocetus multiple times with the rocket launcher. Pay attention to headshots. Once it is unconscious, start feeding it.
This is what the Astrocetus eats
One of the favorite foods of the Space Whale is Extraordinary Kibble, but it is less suitable for taming. Instead, during the taming process, use
- Raw Fillets
- or Raw Mutton.
Just pack it into the inventory of the Astrocetus and watch the bar fill slowly.
How to craft the saddle
To ride the Space Whale, you need to craft a TEK saddle. While it can be dropped during the boss fight against the first Genesis boss Moeder, you will only learn the recipe during the final boss fight against the Master Controller.
For crafting, you will need the following materials:
- 750 Polymer
- 3250 Metal Ingots
- 606 Crystals
- 82 Element
- 210 Black Pearls
