A huge puzzle from World of Warcraft has only resisted players for just under four days. Then they solved the puzzle regarding the “Hivemind”.
In our comprehensive guide, we reveal how you can also enjoy the “Brain Mount”. However, be prepared for quite a bit of work.
The images used mostly come from the “Secret Finding” Discord from players who have solved individual steps. They deserve the thanks and recognition for conquering this puzzle.
Preparation: First and foremost, it should be mentioned that you need a group of five players who belong to the same faction, have reached level 50, and are in the same phase (so either all in war mode or all in normal mode). However, it is advisable to have the maximum level of 70. Large parts of the puzzle can only be solved within a group!
Moreover, you should have an addon installed that shows you coordinates (like MapCoords).
Step 1: The Talisman of True Treasure Hunting
First, travel to Shattrath and look for the troll Gaunah (“Griftah”) in the lower levels of the city.
Buy the Talisman of True Treasure Hunting from him and equip it. Now, four items should glow colorfully on the table behind Gaunah.
Step 2: Collecting the Monocles
For the further steps of the puzzle, various colored monocles are necessary. These can be earned through other puzzles. The order of acquiring the individual monocles does not matter.
However, it is sufficient if each member of the group possesses one monocle – as long as all four colors are eventually present in the group. Those who want to complete the “complete” puzzle should of course obtain all monocles.
Step 2-1: The Red Monocle
Travel to Vash’jir and continue wearing the Talisman of True Treasure Hunting. You are under time pressure for this monocle. You must be able to pass through the area quickly, so it is necessary to have a seahorse mount. You receive this from questing in Vash’jir at the very beginning.
To obtain the monocle, you need to buy currencies from various sea creatures and exchange them for other currencies. Many of these currencies have a tight time limit, making speed and the right order essential. However, if you follow the steps exactly as described below, this should not be a problem.
To be able to purchase the monocle, you need 4 different items that you acquire through a long exchange action.
Exchange Action 1:
- Go to Sir Finley Mrrgglton in the Shimmering Expanse (44 / 20) and buy 500x Seashell.
- Go to The Fleeting Violet Scale in the Abyssal Depths (38 / 77) and buy 100x Cavity-Free Great Shark Tooth.
- Travel to the Stargazer Manta in the Shimmering Expanse (53 / 22) and buy 50x Razoreel Larva.
- Next, go to Little Walchen in the Shimmering Expanse (69 / 47) to buy 250x Well-Fed Doctor Fish.
- Now to The Dismal Bluefin in the Abyssal Depths (65 / 42) to buy 10x Freshly Molted Crab Skin.
- Now in the Tang’thar Forest (60 / 59) to The Old Fish Breath to buy 50x Glittergill Glitter.
Exchange Action 2:
- Travel back to Sir Finley Mrrgglton in the Shimmering Expanse (44 / 20) and buy 80x Seashell again.
- Continue to The Dismal Bluefin in the Abyssal Depths (65 / 42) to buy 2x Giant Giant Toenail Clipping.
- Stay in the Abyssal Depths and swim to The Little Carp (45 / 17), buy from him 4x Makrura Eye.
- Still in the Abyssal Depths, head back to The Fleeting Violet Scale (38 / 77) and acquire 1x Accidentally-Severed Seahorse Fin.
- Now quickly to the Shimmering Expanse to The Crimson Wrathfish (53 / 88) and buy 3x Shiny Sea Serpent Scale.
- Still in the Shimmering Expanse, go to the Stargazer Manta (53 / 22) and buy 40x Symbiotic Plankton.
- Return to Sir Finley Mrrgglton in the Shimmering Expanse (44 / 20) and buy 5x Scintillating Murloc Skin Lotion.
Exchange Action 3:
- Buy 300x Seashell from Sir Finley Mrrgglton – Shimmering Expanse (44 / 20).
- Travel to The Old Fish Breath in the Tang’thar Forest (60 / 59) and purchase 30x Vantus Black Squid Ink.
- Now go to The Blackfish in the Abyssal Depths (15 / 82) and buy 30x Super Slick Eel Slime.
- Continue to The Fleeting Violet Scale in the Abyssal Depths (38 / 77) and buy 3x Rock-Encrusted Whelk Shell.
- Travel to The Little Carp in the Abyssal Depths (45 / 17) and buy 5x Potent Gastropod Gloop.
Exchange Action 4:
- Buy 1500x Seashell from Sir Finley Mrrgglton in the Shimmering Expanse (44 / 20).
- Travel to Little Walchen in the Shimmering Expanse (69 / 47) and buy 300x Very Pretty Coral.
- Now to The Old Fish Breath in the Tang’thar Forest (60 / 59) to pack 100x Iridescent Shimmerray Skin.
- Once again to the Shimmering Expanse to The Crimson Wrathfish (53 / 88) and take 20x Luxurious Luxscale Scale.
- One more time to The Blackfish in the Abyssal Depths (15 / 82) and buy 5x Captured Cavitation Bubble.
Conclusion: Now return to Sir Finley Mrrgglton in the Shimmering Expanse (44 / 20). If you have completed all exchange actions correctly and promptly, you can now buy the red monocle from him!
Step 2-2: The Yellow Monocle
For the yellow monocle, you must travel to the Halls of Origination – a dungeon in Uldum from the WoW expansion “Cataclysm.” Head to the elevator of the dungeon and wear the Talisman of True Treasure Hunting.
In the elevator, you can click on a yellow orb. This starts an extensive puzzle.
The goal of the puzzle is for all star constellations in the room to have the same color. You can change the colors using various refractors. Depending on the shape of the refractor, the star constellations will change to a different color at different positions.
Anyone who is familiar with such puzzles should have no problem – everyone else will need a bit of patience. Since every puzzle is slightly different, there is no “step-by-step” guide for this. You will have to experiment and puzzle it out.
When you solve the puzzle, a large chest will appear in the center of the room. Be careful when opening that you do not accidentally click on the large refractor, otherwise the puzzle will start over!
In the chest is the yellow monocle.
Step 2-3: The Green Monocle
Travel to Sky Pinnacle, a dungeon in the Peaks of Arak (WoW: Warlords of Draenor). Complete the dungeon and you will find a console behind the last boss. You can operate this console if you are wearing the Talisman of True Treasure Hunting.
Activate the console and several lights will appear. At the console, you must now enter the correct combination. The upper sphere is “up”, the right sphere is “right”, and so on.
The correct code is:
Right → Up → Down → Up → Right → Right → Up → Left → Down → Up → Left → Down
Now you can loot the green monocle. One step closer to the Hivemind.
Step 2-4: The Blue Monocle
The blue monocle comes from a small scavenger hunt. You need to find and click on a series of letters, so you can read them. The order must be followed. It is also necessary that you wear the Talisman of True Treasure Hunting.
- The first letter is behind Gaunah in Shattrath on the table where you bought the amulet.
- The second letter is in Highmountain at the coordinates 57 / 27 inside a tent.
- The third letter is in the old Karazhan (the raid dungeon). You need to complete the chess event and then climb the tower. In the stairway, you can turn into Medivh’s chamber and find the letter there on his chair.
- The fourth letter is in the Hills of the Slashers (the dungeon). Behind the boss Deathspeaker Blackthorn, there are several hay bales. On one of the rectangular bales lies the letter.
- The fifth letter can be found on Mount Hyjal at the shrine of Aviana. At the coordinates 44 / 47, the letter lies on the top level of the shrine.
- For the sixth letter, you must go to Northrend to the Ironwall Dam, at the border between Icecrown and the Crystal Song Forest. At the top of the dam, the next letter is speared on a spike (70 / 73 in Icecrown).
- The seventh letter is in the Talong Steppes at coordinates 38 / 63 at a small shrine.
Conclusion: Now travel to the Borean Tundra (Northrend) to the island of the Blue Dragons Kaltara. Fly to the top ring of the Nexus and find the blue monocle at coordinates 28 / 27!
