Ubisoft brings controversial NFTs to Ghost Recon Breakpoint, wants a lot of money for it – kills the game shortly thereafter

Ghost Recon Breakpoint is no longer receiving updates, meaning the game is basically at an end. However, in December, developer Ubisoft introduced NFTs into the game – unique digital items. How Ubisoft’s NFT system works and what happens to the items now can be found on MeinMMO.

This is the situation:

NFT is the new trend in gaming, companies are worth billions of dollars – But why?
von Schuhmann

Breakpoint was the NFT pioneer for Ubisoft

The tactical shooter failed to meet expectations at Ubisoft from the start. The developers explained that the imminent release and the few changes from the predecessor Wildlands were the main reasons for the flop.

After 2.5 years, it is now over – the servers remain online, but there are no new updates. In December, however, they introduced NFTs into the game. These are unique digital items, referred to as “Digits” by Ubisoft.

The first items were free for Breakpoint players and can even be used in the game. The second wave of items was then sold by Ubisoft like microtransactions.

Due to their connection to a blockchain, the items are now tradable.

Breakpoint was apparently seen by Ubisoft as a good opportunity to test their Digits platform called “Quartz”. We explain what it’s all about (via quartz.ubisoft.com).

In-game items become tradable objects

How do NFTs from Breakpoint work? Through the connection of the Ubisoft account with the Quartz platform, you can access the items. In-game requirements had to be met for this.

For some, it was sufficient to reach level 5 in the game. For a specific pair of pants, 100 gameplay hours were required, and for a helmet, even 600 gameplay hours.

The first wave of items was free. Later items were sold relatively expensively and often ended up on trading platforms for around €20 each.

Ubisoft plans to make the items available in other titles later. However, there is no announcement yet on how that will happen.

Due to their structure as NFTs (Non-Fungible Tokens), the items are “unique”. There is only a limited quantity of the items, and the NFT contains information about the current and previous owner, the serial number, and the Ubisoft names of the players who created the NFT.

The NFTs from Ubisoft run on the “Tezos” blockchain – a “Proof of Stake” blockchain. Unlike the Ethereum or Bitcoin blockchains, there are fewer energy-consuming processes to conduct transactions here.

After receiving the items in the game, it was possible to offer the digital goods on 2 selected trading platforms that work with “Tezos”.

This allowed you to upgrade the received Digit to a tradable NFT, and if desired, the items can be sold via the two platforms.

Ubisoft says about NFTs: “They are really advantageous. But you just don’t understand it.”
von Jürgen Horn

Sales of Ubisoft NFTs are rare, but often over €100

How expensive are the NFTs? At the time of the article, one “Tezos” was worth €3.14 (via coinbase.com). Many offers of Ubisoft NFTs are set to “Offer”. You can make offers, and the creator can decide whether to accept the offer.

Recently, a Breakpoint NFT was sold for 85 Tezos, a bit more than €260. The highest transaction value on the platform “Rarible” was a sale for 120 Tezos, a bit more than €370 (via rarible.com).

Many transactions have a value over €100; some go for only €10 or €20.

What happens to the NFTs if the game goes offline? As the owner of the NFT, the token remains with the buyer even after the game ends. In the case of an NFT racing game, the developers offered to exchange the purchased NFTs for other values.

In the case of Ubisoft-Quartz Digits, the developers want to make the unique items available in other games as well.

The harsh criticism of NFTs in gaming is unfair – They are more than micro-transactions
von Maik Schneider

Even after the end, Breakpoint NFTs continue to be sold

Why do the NFTs still have value? Much of the value creation topic is based on the value that buyers, users, or collectors assign to something.

There is a certain trust that these things will not lose value and ideally even increase in value. Money, for example.

Behind the Euro is the European Central Bank, which is supported by the states participating in the Euro. Banknotes, checking account balances, and even the larger coins – all just symbols conveying a value that they physically do not actually have.

But there is trust that you get something for your money, so it is also worth something.

With Ubisoft NFTs, the “Tezos” blockchain serves as the central bank, and Ubisoft itself would be the state backing the trust. As long as the trust in the publisher remains, the NFTs remain valuable.

It is possible that the NFTs could still be used in games in 10 years – a practical value based on trust.

Since these were Ubisoft’s first NFTs, a collector’s value could also arise – an abstract value based on speculation.

In the end, there could also be a complete loss of value. However, no trend can yet be observed with the Ubisoft NFTs.

NFTs remain extremely controversial in gaming, which is certainly justified. The proximity to highly speculative cryptocurrencies makes it hard to predict which direction it all will take.

Breakpoint is a pilot project, and if Ubisoft wants to continue pursuing its Quartz platform, it will need to keep a close eye on current developments and public opinion.

We also want to know what you think about NFTs in gaming. Do you think these items will gain value? Do you think such tradable items have no future in games? Feel free to leave a comment on the topic.

Pokémon GO: I tried the trick with the free box – it really works

In Pokémon GO, trainers are reporting that the free daily box can get better. I had to try this “trick” for myself and found out: It really works. I will show you how my box improved and what I did.

What kind of trick is this? A few weeks ago, trainers first reported about the phenomenon of the free box that suddenly becomes “better”. This box is a package in the shop that every trainer can pick up for free once a day. The contents vary depending on the trainer.

Usually, it contains a few Poké Balls, berries, and weak potions. But if you wait, the contents can turn for the better.

My box got better – and it was really easy

This is what it’s about: I have seen from various trainers in the last few days that their boxes changed from “mediocre” contents to quite strong variants. The trick was likely unavailable since the first discovery and is now back. For example, trainer kpopthrowaway101 showed on April 6 on reddit that in his free box, there were 2x Fast TMs, 1 Super Incubator, 1 Snorlax, and 3 Lucky Eggs. I had to try it!

How does it work? Well, the trick seems quite simple. You check your free box in the morning, remember what was inside (or just take a screenshot), and then check back in a few hours later. For some trainers, the contents change throughout the day. The exact number of hours is unclear.

This is how it worked for me: On April 7, I checked my “Daily Free Box” in the Pokémon GO shop at 07:17 AM. I found 2 Raspberry and 2 Poké Balls inside. I did not redeem the contents, but simply closed the overview of the box.

In the evening at 10:07 PM, I checked the box again. The contents had changed. Instead of a total of 4 items, there were now 14 items.

  • Before:
    • 2 Raspberries
    • 2 Poké Balls
  • After:
    • 4 Ultra Balls
    • 5 Great Balls
    • 2 Potions
    • 3 Nanab Berries

I know that this isn’t the strong yield that other trainers rave about. I did not get any Fast TMs, Lucky Eggs, Sinnoh Stones, or Rare Candy in the package. But the contents changed, and that shows me that it can happen to any trainer.

How can you try this? Currently, there is no guaranteed way to reliably alter the box. A few trainers on reddit report that it has worked for them for three consecutive days now.

So, check your free box once in the morning, but do not redeem the items from it. Then come back to the game a few hours later and check if the contents have changed. If yes, redeem them or wait even longer. For some trainers, 11 PM is the ideal time to get good items. But this is just an assumption.

Have you already tried the “trick”, and did your boxes change? What items did you get by waiting? Or are you not interested in the free boxes in Pokémon GO at all and you already have enough of all items?

Let us know your opinion here on MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers about the package contents.

Dead by Daylight: The best 4 perks for all 27 killers

Do you want the perfect perk combination for every killer in Dead by Daylight? That’s exactly what we have here – this will really heat things up for the survivors.

The asymmetrical horror game Dead by Daylight has grown larger and more complex over the years. There are now 27 killers and hundreds of perks for players to choose from. In addition to the list of the 10 best perks for all killers, we want to present another list: The 4 perks that work best for each killer individually. We will explain why exactly these 4 perks are particularly effective for every killer and what advantages they bring to gameplay.

The selected perks are largely based on current matches of professionals. This includes streamers like “not Otzdarva” or “Monto”, who are among the very best players in the game.

[toc]

The best perk setups for all 27 killers

Update: The list is current as of patch 5.6.2 – the “Sadako Rising” chapter, on April 8, 2022.

Please note that the perks are generally only recommendations. All killers can be played in different ways and various players rely on different strategies. The perk combinations presented here have proven to be very effective as of patch 5.6.1.

The tips mentioned here are mainly suitable for advanced players and professionals. If you are new and looking for generally strong perks to get started, you can find them in our article on the 10 best killer perks.

If you are still struggling with which killer is suitable for you, our detailed overview of all 25 killers can help you.

The best perks for the Trapper

  • Corrupt Intervention
  • Save The Best For Last
  • Pop Goes The Weasel
  • Starstruck

The Trapper can work effectively on most maps even without addons, especially in grass, where his traps are extremely effective. However, there are maps without good hiding spots for traps, which is where perks come into play. The mentioned perks help find survivors early, as they spread across a smaller portion of the map, and prolong the match. At the same time, with Starstruck, you can eliminate multiple survivors in succession or make it more difficult for survivors to save their teammates.

The best perks for the Wraith

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Surge
  • A Nurse’s Call
  • Barbecue & Chili

The Wraith is strongest when played with a “Hit & Run” strategy, and these perks help significantly. Hex: Ruin ensures that generators are reset when you scare survivors away from them. Surge helps deal damage to multiple generators and creates heavy skill checks that expose survivors nearby. Since the Wraith is completely invisible at over 20 meters, “A Nurse’s Calling” helps find healing survivors before they can notice the killer. Lastly, Barbecue and Chili help locate survivors and determine whether others are nearby or far away.

The best perks for the Hillbilly

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Barbecue & Chili
  • Bamboozle

The Hillbilly benefits from his high speed. He can travel quickly across the entire map and take down survivors with a single blow if he gets the chance. His weakness lies in windows that hinder the use of the chainsaw. This is mitigated by Bamboozle, which specifically blocks windows. Ruin helps slow down the game and is replaced by Pop Goes The Weasel should the totem be destroyed. Barbecue & Chili, on the other hand, helps quickly find the next victim after hanging a survivor.

The best perks for the Nurse

  • Corrupt Intervention
  • Thrilling Tremors
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Starstruck

The Nurse is hardly dependent on perks, as almost her entire potential lies in her ability. Anyone who masters her can probably survive even without perks. Corrupt Intervention helps find survivors faster at the beginning, and Thrilling Tremors reveals immediately where more survivors are after the first pickup. The corresponding generator can then be reset significantly with Pop Goes the Weasel. Starstruck fits into this combo and should be used aggressively. After bringing a survivor down, take them towards the generator that is being repaired to hang them. This will likely affect the other survivors with Starstruck, making them vulnerable. This can lead to devastating chain reactions.

Dead by Daylight Huntress

The best perks for the Huntress

  • Corrupt Intervention
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Barbecue & Chili
  • Bitter Murmur

Good perks for the Huntress are difficult to find. Like almost all killers, Corrupt Intervention helps find survivors early, and Pop Goes the Weasel helps prolong the game. Barbecue & Chili reveals where survivors are located and can be used to throw axes over long distances, landing a few targeted hits. Bitter Murmur serves as an additional info perk whenever a generator is repaired and can also be used to practice throwing axes at long range, achieving successes.

The best perks for the Shape

  • Corrupt Intervention
  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Hex: Retribution

Michael Myers primarily benefits from his ability, but he must first come out of Tier I to reach Tier II and then Tier III. To expedite this process, Corrupt Intervention helps drive survivors close to him. The Hex perks serve multiple purposes. Ruin helps reset the generators when Michael chases the survivors with Tier III of his ability. If survivors then start cleansing the totems, Michael sees the aura of the survivors every time to quickly go from Tier II to Tier III and create a chain reaction. Additionally, the entire process of searching for totems takes a lot of time, further prolonging the match.

The best perks for the Hag

  • Whispers
  • Agitation
  • Starstruck
  • Hex: Ruin

As the Hag, it is essential to set up a network of traps early to cover a large area of the map and be able to teleport quickly. Once that is done, Whispers helps find survivors. Thanks to Agitation, you can carry survivors further and even chase other survivors who will go down immediately with Starstruck. Hex: Ruin, as always, helps prolong the match and reset generators faster, giving you more time to catch the survivors.

The best perks for the Doctor

  • Distressing
  • Unnerving Presence
  • Overcharge
  • Brutal Strength

This combination of perks enhances the Doctor’s power and makes him extremely annoying for survivors. Distressing increases the size of the terror radius and thus the range of his secondary ability. Unnerving Presence makes skill checks harder within the terror radius, while Overcharge triggers especially difficult skill checks at damaged generators. Since the Doctor already turns skill checks into complete chaos with his power, survivors will frequently betray their position as long as you are near them. Brutal Strength helps quickly clear pallets and damage generators faster – something you should do regularly.

The best perks for the Cannibal

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Discordance
  • Tinkerer

The Cannibal benefits from his chainsaw, especially when he has multiple survivors in front of him. Discordance helps identify generators being repaired by multiple survivors simultaneously. Tinkerer suppresses the terror radius when a generator is close to completion and can help achieve successful stealth kills where multiple survivors go down. Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying once again help to prolong matches and reset generators to take advantage of Tinkerer multiple times without having to break the chase.

The best perks for the Nightmare

  • Corrupt Intervention
  • Hex: Ruin
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Tinkerer

The Nightmare relies on his ability to teleport to generators and set traps. Like most killers, he benefits greatly from prolonging the match, where Hex: Ruin comes into play. Corrupt Intervention helps put the first survivors to sleep early. Tinkerer rarely helps with stealth attacks, as the Nightmare has a unique lullaby radius, but it serves as an indicator of which generator to teleport to immediately to interrupt progress. If Hex: Ruin fails, Pop Goes the Weasel helps quickly weaken generators by many percentage points.

The best perks for the Pig

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Devour Hope
  • Hex: Undying
  • Hex: Thrill of the Hunt

The Pig is a master at giving survivors additional tasks that eat up their time. With these 4 Hex perks, this is taken to the extreme. Survivors must cleanse all totems to get rid of all effects. Hex: Thrill of the Hunt always reveals when they are working on a totem, while Hex: Devour Hope makes you increasingly deadly and Hex: Ruin steals the time from opponents. Even if the totems are cleansed relatively quickly, there should be enough time for you to already inflict significant damage on the survivors’ team.

The best perks for the Clown

  • Hex: Devour Hope
  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Surge

The Clown also relies on many Hex perks that buy him time to become even deadlier. The Clown is particularly dangerous when he can down survivors with a single blow – this is achieved through Hex: Devour Hope, which is enhanced by Hex: Undying. Hex: Ruin helps further reset generators, while Surge acts as an emergency perk and steals 8% of each generator in a 32-meter radius.

The best perks for the Spirit

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Surge
  • Surveillance

The Spirit is a devastating killer who only gets better with perks. Her only weakness is that games often end quickly before she can unleash her strengths. Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying ensure that generators are reset, just as Surge does. Paired with Surveillance, you can immediately see which generators are being repaired, so you can appear at the generator with your ability and, with some luck, interrupt and catch a survivor directly at work.

The best perks for the Legion

  • Surge
  • Thrilling Tremors
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Hex: Devour Hope

The Legion is particularly good at keeping all survivors in a constant state of injury, which means chases end relatively quickly. Therefore, this perk selection helps locate survivors (Thrilling Tremors), reduce progress (Surge and Pop Goes the Weasel), and increase the lethality of the Legion. Especially with 3 or more tokens on Hex: Devour Hope, the Legion becomes an unexpected, spontaneously deadly threat.

Dead by Daylight Plague Face

The best perks for the Plague

  • Discordance
  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Hex: Retribution

The Plague is also a solid killer even without perks, capable of guaranteeing injuries with delays. With the ability to contaminate generators and objects, all survivors will inevitably be injured sooner or later. Discordance helps find as many survivors as possible at the start and infect them simultaneously. If you don’t catch the survivors, then infect the generator. Now the survivors have no real choice. If they leave the generator alone, it will be reset (by Hex: Ruin); if they work on it, they will become infected. This quickly leads to a chain reaction and many fountains that you can use if survivors try to heal their illness.

The best perks for Ghostface

  • Corrupt Intervention
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Surge
  • A Nurse’s Calling

Ghostface is also inherently a solid killer if he can regularly stalk survivors to down them at the right moment with a single attack. Corrupt Intervention helps locate survivors early, while Pop Goes the Weasel and Surge help reset generators. A Nurse’s Calling is beneficial as Ghostface has no terror radius in stealth, allowing him to sneak up on survivors healing.

The best perks for the Demogorgon

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Save the Best for Last
  • Tinkerer

As with most killers, Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying help to slow down the game. Save the Best for Last helps switch to the special attack quickly after a melee attack. Make sure to only hit the Obsession with the special attack to avoid losing tokens. Finally, Tinkerer ensures that you always know which generator is close to completion, allowing you to sneak up on it unnoticed. With good portal placement, you can do this very quickly.

Dead by Daylight Oni artwork title 1140x445

The best perks for the Oni

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Discordance
  • Tinkerer

The Oni is a devastating killer with his power who relies on Hex: Ruin. Should Hex: Ruin be cleansed, the alternative is Pop Goes the Weasel. Discordance helps quickly identify which generators are being worked on by multiple survivors, and Tinkerer provides a stealth element that allows you to strike unexpectedly and possibly take out multiple survivors at the same time.

The best perks for the Deathslinger

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Surge
  • Agitation
  • Starstruck

To slow down the game, the Deathslinger also relies on Hex: Ruin and Surge.

The combination of Agitation and Starstruck allows you to down survivors while carrying another survivor – or shortly after. Thanks to his shot mechanic, he can also achieve high success at distances and deliver one-hits almost continuously. Moreover, you can carry survivors further to bring the deadly terror radius (from Starstruck) closer to the survivors.

The best perks for the Executioner

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Discordance
  • Tinkerer

Even the Executioner benefits from Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying to prolong the game and reset generators. With Discordance, you can quickly determine which generator is being repaired by multiple survivors, and Tinkerer once again brings the stealth element back. Thanks to his ability, this can lead to multiple hits at once and quickly ensure a victory. Regularly use your cages, especially when all survivors are in one spot. They will then have to run all over the map to help their teammate and cannot block the hanging.

Dead by Daylight Blight titel lowres

The best perks for the Blight

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Hex: Devour Hope
  • Hex: Haunted Grounds

The standard combo of Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying is also used by the Blight, but is accompanied by even more Hex perks. The Blight benefits from his extremely high speed and can therefore take advantage of both Hex: Devour Hope and Hex: Haunted Grounds to down multiple survivors with a single blow. Even if these perks risk being disabled altogether, by that point significant damage has usually already been done.

The best perks for the Twins

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Discordance
  • Barbecue & Chili

The Twins do not benefit equally from all perks, as Victor is either unaffected by perks or only affected in exceptional cases. Therefore, a conservative setup of Hex: Ruin, Hex: Undying, and Discordance is also worthwhile for the Twins to quickly locate the majority of survivors and slow down their progress. Barbecue & Chili provides more visibility after hanging a survivor and helps clarify whether survivors are nearby or far away.

The best perks for the Trickster

  • Hex: Ruin
  • Hex: Undying
  • Corrupt Intervention
  • Tinkerer

The Trickster also benefits most from a standard build. However, this only works well if you can handle his power well and accurately land knife throws. Corrupt Intervention helps find survivors early, Hex: Ruin and Hex: Undying prolong the match, and Tinkerer helps once again to sneak up on the first hit “for free”.

Dead by Daylight Nemesis Killer titel title 1280x720

The best perks for Nemesis

  • Barbecue & Chili
  • Pop Goes the Weasel
  • Save The Best for Last
  • Corrupt Intervention

Nemesis also benefits from a standard build but can particularly benefit from “Save the Best for Last”. Thanks to the tentacle strike, Nemesis can take down the obsession without ever using a melee attack. As a result, the perk never loses its stacks, and you can execute sneaky and quick hit combinations on the other survivors. First, give them a melee hit and then benefit from the reduced cooldown to follow up with a tentacle strike.
“Corrupt Intervention” provides a smaller field and Pop Goes the Weasel extends the match.

The best perks for the Cenobite

  • Barbecue & Chili
  • Hoarder
  • Franklin’s Demise
  • Save The Best for Last

The Cenobite is the only killer so far who makes good use of the perk “Hoarder,” thanks to his base kit of abilities. Since the puzzle box counts as an item, the Cenobite is alerted as soon as a player picks up the box.

This allows the killer to head directly towards the survivor with the box before they begin solving it. This is particularly insidious when paired with “Franklin’s Demise.” If the survivor is hit by a melee attack, they immediately drop the puzzle box, and the Cenobite picks it up. This immediately triggers a chain hunt that reveals and massively hinders all survivors.
“Barbecue & Chili” and “Save The Best for Last” are standard options that help quickly transition from one survivor to another and always be informed of everyone’s location.

The best perks for the Artist

  • Discordance
  • Hex: Ruin
  • Barbecue & Chili
  • No Way Out

The Artist benefits from delaying the game as much as possible. For that, “Hex: Ruin” combined with Discordance is optimal. Once she is informed that survivors are working in pairs at a generator, she can send her crows to interfere or wound the survivors at the generator. Once chased away, this generator will be automatically reset by “Hex: Ruin.” Barbecue & Chili creates a similar benefit, allowing her to attack the next survivor right after hanging.

Finally, “No Way Out” is another way to gain a good minute more of gameplay and hinder survivors from escaping. In 60 seconds, you can often take down 1-2 more survivors and eliminate them from the game.

The best perks for Onryō

  • Barbecue & Chili
  • Make Your Choice
  • Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance
  • Corrupt Intervention

Like many other killers with teleportation abilities, the Onryō benefits greatly from “Make Your Choice.” If someone is rescued from the hook, she can easily teleport to a nearby TV and hunt the rescuer. Corrupt Intervention and Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance both help slow the game down and drive survivors into the arms of the Onryō early on.

Lost Ark: Level 50, what now? 13 things you should definitely do

Finally reached the endgame, but what’s next? Quests, dungeons, upgrading gear, or maybe sailing? You definitely shouldn’t miss these activities in Lost Ark.

Update: We last updated the article on April 08. We added a link to the Mokoko map under point 4.

[toc]

1. Continue the story in North Vern

To progress in Lost Ark, you need to keep advancing the story. The first act leads you to Castle Vern and is the quickest way to reach level 50.

But that’s not where the story ends. After all, you have only found three Arks and brought them to Trixion. Four are still missing.

Here’s what’s next:

  • When you leave Vern, it gets icy. You sail north towards Shushire. The quests there take a total of about two to three hours, and you will receive the gear for item level 302 afterwards. Alternatively, you can, of course, upgrade your equipment in Castle Vern.
  • Next, the plan is to raise the item level to 460 and move to the western continent of Rohendel. There, too, you should continue with the quests. You can only start chaos dungeons in Rohendel once you have completed the quests.
  • With item level 600, you continue to Yorn. There, you raise your item level to 960.
  • For 960 to 1100, you sail further to Fayton.
  • The (for now) last continent is Punika. There, you will be at item level 1100 and above.

2. Complete squad quests

At level 50, you will receive numerous squad quests that you can and should complete. They provide experience for your entire squad, meaning the level for all your characters on the server. For each level, you unlock rewards in the squad menu (hotkey O).

  • The quests are marked in purple; some you need to accept from NPCs, but most appear on their own.
  • Among them are some that have [Advisor] before their names.
  • Then you just need to read a bit or have someone explain it to you and can directly try out what you learned.

To enter chaos dungeons or guardian raids, you need to first complete the corresponding squad quests.

Also, to use your two free power passes, you need to complete the corresponding squad quest once you reach level 50. It’s called “Ealyn’s Gift.” With the power pass, you can then boost two more characters in your squad directly to level 50.

The squad rewards improve your stats.

3. Choose engravings

Most classes in Lost Ark can choose from two class engravings. You decide on one of them and thereby select your playstyle for your character’s future.

For the Shadowhunter, for example, you decide whether you want to focus entirely on the demon mode or leave it out to perfect the normal attacks.

In addition to class engravings, there are combat engravings. These are identical for all classes.

  • To level your engravings, you use the class or combat engraving books that you have received throughout the game.
  • To bring an engraving to level 1, you must read 20 of the green books, then the blue and purple books. You can find out how this works in our engraving guide.

You can improve certain aspects with them but also degrade them. Therefore, in the endgame, it’s essential to choose the right ones for your character. Maxroll has build guides for every class, detailing the most sensible engraving combinations.

4. Complete adventure tomes

Press N to open your adventure tome. By completing the main quests, you will fill about 10-20% on each continent and receive some rewards, such as potions or collectible cards.

If you reach higher percentages, there are additional items to collect on the continent. For example, you may have missed a mount, rare cards, or decoration for your stronghold.

If you want to play Lost Ark with a focus on completion, you should take the time to revisit some maps.

Bosses, viewpoints, dungeons on both difficulty levels, triports, relationships, and collectibles should be completed to receive valuable rewards.

At 30% in North Vern, for example, you can find the Raptor.

All over Lost Ark, you will encounter NPCs with whom you can build relationships. At launch, there are more than 70 of them. Through gifts, emotes, quests, and songs, you gain reputation and will be rewarded by the NPCs in the end. However, you have a limited number of relationship actions available each day.

Additionally, you will surely still find a few Mokokos that you left behind during your first run. Papunika provides you with an interactive map to easily locate Mokokos, bosses, and hidden side quests.

As a final reward, for 100% of the adventure tome, you receive the Ignea mark of the continent. In capitals, you can exchange these marks for further rewards, such as a mount, a rune, or a skill potion.

5. Sailing

You receive your boat around level 40 to sail to the next continent. Along the way, you will pass many small islands where you can dock. By the endgame, you should visit these islands and complete the quests, as they provide upgrade materials, maps, and other useful rewards.

On each of the islands, you will experience unique little stories, some of which are very cute. For example, the Panda-Pupu Island is an absolute must.

On the Panda-Pupu Island, you become a panda yourself!

Additionally, from level 50, events will appear in the top left, as you can only visit some islands at specific times. For example, sometimes a little deathmatch takes place among all present players on Death Grip Island.

The islands are useful for quickly reaching a higher item level. You will reach 460 very quickly through island rewards.

Don’t forget to upgrade and regularly repair your ship.

6. Chaos dungeons and guardian raids

You can enter chaos dungeons and guardian raids as soon as you reach Castle Vern and complete the respective advisor quests. You start chaos dungeons at a statue in the north of the map, and guardian raids at the bulletin board behind it.

While you face many monsters in the chaos dungeon, in the guardian raid, you encounter a single strong boss. There are stronger bosses that you can select as opponents if you have a higher item level.

In the chaos dungeon, you can bring simple healing potions and use as many as you need. You can also die as often as you want. In the guardian raid, however, only combat potions are allowed. These are the ones that heal a specific percentage of HP. Additionally, only three deaths are allowed in your group overall.

You enter the fight with up to four players and can farm loot, especially upgrade material, twice a day. You can start chaos dungeons more often, but you will only receive perception fragments and crystals of disorder then. These can be traded with an NPC near the statue.

We recommend completing chaos dungeons and guardian raids daily. It’s worth it.

7. Abyss dungeons

In the endgame, there are 13 different abyss dungeons to complete, the first one with item level 340 and the last two with 1370. Each dungeon can be completed once per character per week.

You will be rewarded with gold, engraving manuals, and items that increase weapon and gear upgrade chances. The drops are great, but the dungeons are particularly challenging.

Just like chaos dungeons and guardian raids, you can start the abyss dungeons in the north of Castle Vern. Enter them with a group of four players.

As in guardian raids, you may only use combat potions in abyss dungeons and no simple healing potions.

8. The Tower

You tackle the tower alone in Lost Ark. At item level 302, you can enter and fight your way up level by level. You will either face multiple enemies or a boss.

With the higher levels, you need a higher item level:

  • Floor 1: Item level 302
  • Floor 5: Item level 340
  • Floor 10: Item level 380
  • Floor 15: Item level 400
  • Floor 20: Item level 420
  • Floor 25: Item level 440
  • Floor 30: Item level 460
  • Floor 35: Item level 480
  • Floor 40: Item level 500
  • Floor 45: Item level 520
  • Floor 50: Item level 540

As in guardian raids, you may not use normal healing potions, only the combat potions that heal a specific percentage of HP. Also, if you die, you must leave the tower.

If you leave the tower, whether through death or voluntarily, you will receive rewards for all completed levels. On the lower levels, for example, you will gather card packs.

9. Collect card decks

You receive collectible cards from the very beginning in Lost Ark, but they only become interesting in the endgame. You get them from quests, in the adventure tome, in combat, and through many other means.

You can equip up to six cards in your card deck. Certain combinations, i.e., complete decks, provide your character with bonuses. The effects are activated after two, three, four, and six set pieces.

Now you should decide or check online which deck is the most sensible for you. Then you can start collecting all the cards of that deck. Some, however, are very expensive.

You can also upgrade your card set and add a so-called awakening to it. For this, you need additional copies of the collectible card and generate card experience this way. For a maximum upgrade, you need to collect the card 15 times. If you want to read more about this, check out our guide to collectible cards.

There are over 500 different collectible cards in Lost Ark.

10. Expand housing further

Already at levels 26-28, you receive your own island, your stronghold, and thus unlock housing in Lost Ark.

In the lab, you research expansions and new recipes that you can then craft in the workshop. These include potions that you would otherwise have to buy in the auction house for gold. It’s worth using housing to save gold.

You can also send your sailors on expeditions from the island. They return with rewards, such as pirate coins.

Once you reach level 50 and use the power pass, additional characters in the stronghold can engage in what is known as “training.” This is a type of automatic leveling, so you don’t have to level every twink to the max level of 60 yourself. Leveling becomes very time-consuming after level 50.

Also interesting are the merchants that arrive on your island and stay for a few hours. They offer different items, such as sailors for your expeditions or new recipes. The merchants can be paid with seals you earned through NPC missions.

11. Unas Tasks

Unas Tasks are daily and weekly quests in Lost Ark that you unlock in Vern at level 50. You can complete three quests daily and weekly each. The reset for dailies is at 11:00 AM, and the weekly quests reset on Thursdays.

The quests vary greatly and can be chosen based on what you are already doing. This way you don’t have to put in much effort and can kill two birds with one stone. You can also complete Unas Tasks with multiple characters.

Unas Tasks include many different quests

12. Chaos Portals

Chaos portals are only available at certain times and will be displayed to you in the top left at events starting from level 50. The locations of the chaos portals are spread throughout Arkesia. Each portal opens once a week.

Together with about 30 players, you proceed through the portal and will be teleported to a map where you must search for and defeat one boss after another. Rewards include chaos fragments, the rune Rage, and treasure maps.

At the end, the boss drops a legendary treasure map, which is auctioned for gold among all participants.

13. Life Skills and World Tree Leaves

To craft the items for the endgame, you need materials. You obtain these through life skills, often referred to as professions in other games.

Life skills are the crafting abilities you learn at levels 24-26. These include mining, logging, hunting, gathering, fishing, and excavating.

The levels of the tools range from tier 1 to tier 5. You have probably already bought the green tier-1 tools from the merchant. Starting from tier 2, you need to craft them yourself.

Additionally, you receive so-called world tree leaves when performing crafting activities. You can exchange these with the NPC Chapman, and for every six leaves, you receive a reward. These include a crafting skill XP potion, a title, the ability to transform into a rabbit (Yes, really! You can choose whether blue or pink!), and other rewards.

With these 13 activities, you have plenty to do in the endgame. Which of them have you already tried, and what was new for you? Do you prefer going into dungeons and raids, or do you sail around relaxing and improving your life skills in the process? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on meinMMO!

„Still one of the best games for me“ – Why shooter fans should catch up on The Division 2

At first, the mechanics, the multitude of attributes, and equipment may seem overwhelming, and it takes a long time to understand everything – paperwork and calculator included.

The Division 2: The Strongest Attributes – This Currently Gives You the Most Power

But whether you look for a build online or grab a pen and paper yourself: Prepare yourself for a long loot search.

There is a “Targeted Loot System” that allows you to farm specific equipment, but for each piece of equipment, there are so many variables that winning at bingo in your local community center seems like a given by comparison.

Quests and areas sometimes give you “Targeted Loot”.

Among these lucky strikes for your build, hundreds of other pieces fall into your inventory. Especially at the beginning of the endgame, when you’re not quite sure whether a piece is good or worthless junk, inventory management is a real turnoff.

You are constantly sorting, comparing values, filling the bank and are always accompanied by the creeping fear of having dismantled a good attribute combo.

You are shown whether a value is strong on a piece, but you have to pay attention to an abnormally high number of variables.

In the first few hours, this is fun because the complexity makes you want more, and you continuously increase your power so that enemies seem to melt away.

But after 100 hours, this becomes a tedious chore, as you cannot play with a full inventory, and eventually you will have to sort things out.

division 2 loot fest
A longer fight fills up your inventory quite a bit.

In addition, there is a pretty strict meta in the endgame. There are actually 3 types of attributes: Damage, Skill, and Defense. However, it ultimately all revolves around damage attributes. Not even healers are in demand – even though there is strong healing in the game.

Whether you want to play the raids, clear up in PvP, or conquer the Dark Zone: Without an optimized damage build, you’re rarely going to get very far.

The hunt for the perfect piece of equipment ultimately dictates the entire endgame. There are cool puzzles in the game, numerous missions, and a lot to discover. However, much of this has little to no replay value.

Even the fights against the countless gangsters lose their charm over time because it always comes down to pumping a very sponge-like bullet sponge full of ammunition for several minutes.

The motivation ultimately hangs only on the min-max aspect: “I definitely want to get the remaining 0.3% weapon damage on my damned knee pads!”.

And then you grind the same mission at the Lincoln Memorial 13 times because “Targeted Loot” promises knee pads that day.

The Division 2 – Pros, Cons and Conclusion

The loot shooter is really good if you want to experience an exciting story in a real setting. Collecting and improving brings fun and motivation, the shooting and clever use of gadgets keep you entertained.

However, the fun has an expiration date, and the air quickly goes out after the start of the endgame. Until that point, Division 2, however, is a strong co-op shooter that is worth recommending.

After the recent announcement that new content is on the way, this quote from MeinMMO reader “Gamer” might apply to many fans: “Still one of the best games for me. Spent countless hours on it. Due to content drought, I only play occasionally now, but I’m looking forward to more”.

Conclusion: A Big MMO Like a Summer Camp Romance

The Division 2 was the first game I accompanied as an author and thus holds a special place in that part of my heart that is dedicated to gaming.

However, even from an objective standpoint: I can recommend The Division 2 to any fan of shooters. If the third-person view is not a complete exclusion criterion for you, you can’t go wrong here.

You blast your way through explosive battles in famous American cities, distributing countless bullets on the hordes of gangsters in the streets and rise as the guardian of peace and order.

The graphics still leave little to be desired even 3 years after release and transform the detail-obsessed open world into a wonderland of environmental storytelling.

But don’t expect a long-term relationship with prospects of tax savings thanks to spousal splitting. Instead, see it more as an intense summer camp romance with an expiration date.

Compared to other titles of the Division AAA caliber, the loot shooter offers a great deal, but it simply cannot compete with large MMOs or even MMORPGs.

If you ever get bored, the chance is low that it will change again. Then it’s time to politely say goodbye with a nice message. But don’t ghost; that’s just mean.

In our theme week “Find Your Next Game” we present old and new games that you should take a look at if you don’t know them yet. This time it’s about the loot shooter The Division 2. This is a game that is as grand as its failures, which is why it still provides many fun hours of gameplay in 2022.

What kind of game is The Division 2? The Division 2 is, quite frankly, a more serious Destiny. While you zoom across a Saturn moon filled with space magic in the sci-fi adventure Destiny, Division sends you to real American cities to fight the demons of evil.

The setting is based on a realistic world, just like the graphics. Parts of the Earth are in ruins after a pandemic, entire societies collapse, and governments are on the brink of dysfunction. That’s when you step in.

The third-person shooter with cover mechanics transforms you into an agent of the “Strategic Homeland Division”. With modern weapons and technological gadgets, you blast your way through the ruins of Washington D.C.

You complete missions in an extremely detailed open world, thwart the plans of the apocalyptic gangs, and cultivate a highly specialized agent who gives local warlords nightmares.

We will show you why The Division 2, even three years after its release, represents a top title in its genre and why you should definitely check it out if you don’t know the game yet in this edition of “Find Your Next Game”. Let’s start with the German launch trailer:

The Division 2 – A Shooter Hit at the Highest Level

How does the loot shooter feel to play? The gameplay loop is very typical for the genre:

  • You create a character
  • You level up continually
  • You collect a ton of stuff that improves you
  • You improve the stuff you gather in heaps

On your way to the maximum level, you complete story missions, explore the fantastic open world, and continue to develop your agent. Armor and weapons offer different stat improvements that you can coordinate with one another.

The third-person perspective gives you a very good overview of the battlefield, and the cover mechanics round off the gaming experience perfectly.

You don’t even need to walk yourself to reach the next cover. A well-timed roll to the side along with the button for “run to next cover” creates a smooth maneuver.

You can also pierce incoming enemies from cover, aim precisely, or shoot out of sight with a well-timed grenade throw.

The-Division-2-Invasion
A large arsenal of weapons and deadly gadgets stands by your side.

For that little extra, you mix various technological toys into your hail of bullets. You can deploy flying drones, rattling turrets, homing mines, or annoying mini-flash drones. Among the wide range of devices, you can carry 2 with you.

The use of intrusive war toys can even be pushed to the limit, so that firearms play only a supporting role. If you prefer to shoot enemies in the face yourself, you let the technology support you.

When it comes to weapons, war machines, and equipment, there’s something for almost every playstyle.

Overall, everything is very coherent, it rarely feels clumsy, and it should appeal even to first-person shooter veterans who are used only to seeing weapon and hand on screen.

To get an impression of the gameplay, we are embedding a video of a typical mission of The Division 2 here. Pay attention to the detailed environments and the skillful use of devices and cover:

Motivation is provided not only by the excellent environmental storytelling and the long story campaign but also by a flood of loot that regularly brings complete rotations to your inventory.

Once you reach the maximum level of 30 and complete the “first” story, you unlock the specializations. This can keep you occupied for 25 to 30 hours.

The specializations are, broadly speaking, RPG classes that grant you active as well as passive bonuses.

For example, there is the specialization “Firewall”. The quartermaster digs out a flamethrower with a matching shield from his locker, and you mutate into a fiery melee fighter with a wrath against anything that comes within 15 meters of your sight.

If you prefer not to get too close, you can specialize in explosions or range instead. The base game includes 3 specializations, which you must level up individually but can also switch out.

With the specializations, you unlock a heavy weapon and a skills tree.

Almost all content in Division 2 can be played cooperatively. However, the MMO shooter is also a hit as a single player game and caters to your preference; you don’t necessarily need a complete agent team.

At the top of the content food chain are 2 tough raids for 8 agents. Large PvE missions with nasty bosses that require a lot of coordination and mechanical knowledge from you. However, you will need 7 other motivated and fully equipped players for that.

There is also PvP in Division 2. Either in pure PvP battles that quickly find an end and a winner, or in the Dark Zone.

The Dark Zone is an exciting PvEvP mode where you explore an infected zone, loot strong items, and can encounter hostile players at any time. “Contaminated” loot must be extracted before the PvP aspect kicks in and other players can steal your stuff.

the-division-2-dark-zones-and-pvp
In the Dark Zone, you encounter hostile players – but also your own team can betray you.

An advantage of Division 2 is also a little its age. The release was already in 2019, and you can get the base game for just 10 euros – your chosen platform doesn’t matter.

If the base game has convinced you, you can then reach for the big, paid DLC “Warlords of New York”. Here you hunt the nasty antagonist from the first Division game and roam the devastated New York City.

In terms of graphics, the loot shooter does not show its age. The realistically designed environments look really good, provide great views throughout the game, and many models are just bursting with detail.

Division 2 still offers great views and strong graphics.

So far, everything sounds fantastic, right? But where the sun shines, a shadow is not far away. The Division 2 struggles with some problems that we will explain to you in the next section.

Those expecting an MMO endgame will be disappointed

Where does Division 2 fall short? The shooter offers a strong and lengthy story, tons of equipment, gadgetry, and a beautiful, large open world.

If you go into the loot shooter with the right expectations, you will have a good time and experience an exciting adventure. However, if the MMO and service aspect of the game matters to you, it could be possible that you will be disappointed.

If you ever get bored, the chance is low that it will change again. Then it’s time to politely say goodbye with a nice message. But don’t ghost; that’s just mean.

Pokémon GO: First Safari Zone brings new Shiny – players hope in vain for global bonuses

In Pokémon GO, live events like the Safari Zone will start again this year. There will be a new Shiny in Seville – trainers are also hoping for the rest of the world.

What kind of event is this? Not only the date for the Pokémon GO Fest 2022 has been announced, but also the first Safari Zone has been announced.

However, unlike the global GO Fest, this is a local event. The first Safari Zone 2022 will officially take place in Seville, Spain.

When does the Safari Zone run? It takes place from May 13 to 15, 2022, but only in “Parque del Alamillo” Seville. It is also necessary to purchase a ticket for the event.

Meanwhile, details about the event have also been revealed.

The Safari Zone has bonuses on board, but not worldwide

What does the Safari Zone offer? Among other things, there will be some attractions and actions in the real world on-site. In addition, there will be encounters with various monsters in the game, most of which can also appear as Shiny.

The highlights here are probably monsters like the normally regionally bound Tauros to the USA, Unown “E” and especially: Krebscorps.

The latter is coming as a completely new Shiny in the game. The shiny version has not been available in Pokémon GO yet and is likely to become a popular monster at the event.

Krebscorps and its evolution Krebutack as Shiny

This is how it looks in the rest of the world: In the Pokémon GO subreddit “TheSilphRoad,” the event is currently being discussed. Some players there are also wishing for global event bonuses, like user “krispyboyz”: “I really hope they bring back the global mini-Safari Zone events that coincided with these events in the past. Increased Shiny rates for Krebscorps would be nice, but even if they spawn with normal chances for the rest of us, I would still take it” (via reddit).

However, it does not look good in that respect. The official event page even clearly states: “Note: There is no global gameplay component to this live event” (via pokemongolive).

So it currently looks like there will be no special spawns during the Safari Zone for the rest of the world.

It is also to be assumed that Shiny Krebscorps will initially only appear at the Seville event. A similar case already occurred with Sandshrew: Its Shiny variant was originally available only at an event in Japan.

However, Sandshrew then also appeared worldwide just a few weeks later. So one can at least hope that Shiny Krebscorps will not take too long to arrive in the rest of the world.

What is Jarvis doing now? As liljarvis, the influencer is still found on YouTube where he uploads videos more or less regularly. He primarily markets himself and provides reality content.

For some time now, videos about boxing have been frequently appearing. It seems that Jarvis has taken a liking to it – and there is a reason for that.

“Who should I fight next?”

What does Jarvis have to do with boxing? In June 2021, the “Battle of the Platforms” took place. There, well-known figures from YouTube faced off against those from TikTok. Jarvis also participated and fought against TikToker Michael Le.

The fight took place on June 12, and Jarvis won in the second round with a knockout (KO). This means he hit his opponent so hard that he could not get up within the time limit.

His opponent at the time was a good bit smaller and slighter than Jarvis himself. However, this remains his only known victory in the boxing ring so far.

Jarvis has been celebrating his triumph since then with a prominent image on Twitter, which he has even set as a background:

Is he serious? Probably yes. As esports.gg reports, Jarvis claims to have found his “passion for boxing.” Since then, he has also been uploading content about it, suggesting he wants to pursue a career in this area.

In one of his recent tweets from April 5, 2022, he asks his followers: “Who should I fight next?” The responses range from rather bizarre offers to Jake and Logan Paul, who were partially responsible for popularizing influencer boxing back then.

At least Logan Paul has since switched to wrestling, albeit with strange quirks:

Boxing is getting bigger on Twitch and more.

The trend around combat sports is growing, even in Germany. There was a major event in early April, where several German influencers faced each other in the ring.

The highlight of the evening was the match between Trymacs and MckyTV. The two YouTubers and streamers actually share a close friendship. The encounter resembled the biblical fight of David against Goliath, but it generated a lot of media buzz.

The topic of boxing has been coming up repeatedly before this as well. The largest Twitch streamer xQc has also considered stepping into the ring. Asmongold, Esfand, and some of their colleagues staged a fantasy fight in a wrestling ring shortly before Christmas 2021.

The trend could indeed pick up more momentum and even become the “next big thing” on Twitch and more. MeinMMO author Maik Schneider has thought deeply about this and explains why that is likely:

Streamer boxing matches work so well because they give us exactly what makes Twitch unique

Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands has a “best weapon” – This is what makes it so good

In Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands there is a weapon that stands out: The pistol is called “Liquid Cooling” and is currently considered the best weapon you can find.

What makes the weapon so powerful? The “Liquid Cooling” – or “Flüssigkühlung” in German – is a powerful, legendary pistol made by Skuldugger in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.

Like all other Skuldugger weapons, it has the unique feature of not needing to be reloaded. Instead, it has an overheating meter that fills up after a certain number of shots. Once it’s full, you cannot fire anymore.

But here’s the strong effect of the weapon: Every time you achieve critical hits with the Liquid Cooling, the overheating meter resets a bit.

If you aim well, this can lead to it simply not stopping shooting – at least until you run out of ammunition.

Even better: If you use the Killomancer class, you can take advantage of the ability “Out of the Shadows” – then all hits temporarily turn into critical hits. You will indeed only stop shooting when the skill runs out.

How powerful it is can be seen, for example, in this video by YouTuber Ki11erSix:

Overall, the weapon has very strong damage values and can even drop with a double damage variant. Additionally, it inflicts Cryo damage on your enemies. They are slowed down and frozen – making them even easier targets for critical hits.

In the Wonderlands community and among several YouTubers, the “Liquid Cooling” is currently making a name for itself as the best weapon in the game.

But where can you find it?

Here you can find the Liquid Cooling in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands

How to get the Liquid Cooling: There are various ways to obtain the Liquid Cooling.

  • It can simply appear as a world drop – basically anywhere
  • It can even appear in vending machines
  • As a reward for the Chaos Chambers in the endgame of the Wonderlands, you can also get it

The “safest” option is to defeat the boss “Lissia” in the Cracked Mast Bay. You will encounter Lissia at the boss obelisk behind the waterfall in the Cracked Mast Bay. Here you must clear several waves of skeletons before Lissia herself appears. Once you defeat her, there is at least a chance to get a Liquid Cooling.

But: Regardless of which option you choose, you need a lot of loot luck. As of now, the weapon is extremely rare. However, the search could be worthwhile.

Besides strong weapons, Wonderlands – Borderlands style – also has a few ridiculous weapons. One of them is the deadly Bread Cannon – and it’s not bad at all.

The 5 new MMOs and MMORPGs for 2022 with the best prospects

We look at the best new MMOs and MMORPGs that we expect in 2022 and beyond in Germany. What games have announced their betas or releases for the coming months, and which gems of online games can we count on?

This is the situation: There was a long drought between 2015 and 2020, during which no new major MMORPG was released for years, and online role-playing games were constantly postponed. But 2021 was a year in which several long-awaited projects celebrated their release:

Start video
These are currently the 7 most popular MMORPGs 2022

How is the list of promising games put together? The list is a selection from our author Gerd Schuhmann. Since 2014, he has overseen the major online games at MeinMMO.

The selected games are those online games and MMORPGs that are set to be released in 2022 or at least be playable in an alpha/beta state, which he considers to be the most relevant games, and from which an interesting turn is expected in 2022.

A game like Star Citizen, which has been in continuous development for years and has not announced a peak for 2022, therefore does not appear on the list.

We last updated the article on April 7, 2022. Especially about the long “mysterious” Project TL, there are finally tangible information. We also know more about Diablo Immortal now.
Crimson Desert Man
He really looks a bit like Jon Snow: The star from Crimson Desert “Macduff”.

Crimson Desert – Focus on Story and Campaign

Genre: Open World Action-Adventure | Platforms: PC, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X | Release: Uncertain

This is Crimson Desert: Crimson Desert was initially planned as the new “flagship” MMORPG by Pearl Abyss. The South Koreans have earned millions with Black Desert, especially with the mobile version, and are investing the money into a new engine and new games. In the meantime, Crimson Desert has become an “Open World Action-Adventure” with an additional multiplayer mode.

Crimson Desert is specifically aimed at the West and wants to offer a story campaign and more PvE content than the PvP-heavy predecessor Black Desert.

The player is supposed to lead a mercenary band. The aesthetics are reminiscent, not coincidentally, of Game of Thrones.

A special feature is that the player will play the fixed hero “Macduff” in the single-player part. However, in the multiplayer part of the game “Another Journey,” the player can create their own character.

Crimson Desert Ice

Pearl Abyss wants to offer versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X in addition to a PC version. The goal is for Crimson Desert to reach as many platforms as possible.

A release of Crimson Desert was originally planned for the 4th quarter of 2021.

However, in July 2021, it became known that Crimson Desert will no longer be released in 2021. The release date was postponed to give the game “more time”. Pearl Abyss wants to introduce new ideas to the game.

There is currently no release date for Crimson Desert.

This is new gameplay from 2021.

How has the development of Crimson Desert gone so far?

  • It has been known for some time that Pearl Abyss is working on a new engine, on which all future games are to be released. The engine from Black Desert is now considered outdated by the Korean MMORPG specialists.
  • In August 2019, it was said that Pearl Abyss is planning a new major MMORPG that particularly focuses on the Western market.
  • In November 2019, Crimson Desert was revealed with a first trailer.
  • In 2020, Pearl Abyss announced that they would move away from “pure MMORPG” and focus more on single-player. It was even said that Crimson Desert is “its own genre.” While the concept sounds like Red Dead Online: Single-player with a fixed character – multiplayer then with one’s own.
  • In July 2021, it was said that the game was well received in the first feedback, but still needed longer in development.
  • A teaser of what the game will look like was given by Pearl Abyss with a trailer for DokeV. The MMO is aimed at children but already thrilled with its graphics at Gamescom 2021.

This is Crimson Desert at best: So far, it sounds like a game with a linear story, like Red Dead Redemption 2. The NPCs are expected to play an important role. But MMORPG aspects such as mass battles and trade are also expected to be included.

At best, story fans will receive a good, long campaign, while the endgame will lean towards MMORPG and offer the opportunity to play interesting PvE content.

Pearl Abyss has greatly developed Black Desert so far, which can also be expected for Crimson Desert. For now, the game looks strong and “next-gen” in screenshots.

Crimson Desert Campfire
The other members of the mercenary band are expected to play a big role.

This is Crimson Desert at worst: It is still not clear how the gameplay will work and what the activities after the story will look like.

Apparently, Pearl Abyss wants to develop an open-world action-adventure for Western console players that also offers multiplayer elements, a game similar to Red Dead Redemption 2 or The Elder Scrolls Online.

Whether Koreans can really meet the tastes of Westerners is still open. In the worst case, Crimson Desert would likely be a blockbuster game with an attached online component that offers little long-term motivation once the campaign is completed.

Pros
  • Aimed at the West
  • Developer has a lot of experience and abundant resources
  • Visually appealing – the new engine could set standards
  • Interesting emphasis on campaign and story
Cons
  • Still little information on gameplay
  • What does the long-term motivation look like for a story-heavy game?
  • Release date postponed indefinitely
  • Does Pearl Abyss really understand our taste?

Here you can find the latest information on Crimson Desert.

Minecraft has an item that is only good if you are bad

Do you sometimes die in Minecraft? A new compass helps you not to lose all items – at least if you manage to craft it.

Dies in Minecraft is extremely annoying. Not only do you lose all carried items, but you also respawn at the last bed you slept in – and that can be quite far from the place of death. The most annoying deaths are those where you can no longer figure out exactly where you were – like deep in a cave complex or far away from your base.

The danger is great: The items are lost forever, as you won’t find the location of death again before they disappear.

There is soon a solution for this. Because Minecraft is introducing a compass that is only useful if you have died before.

What is this compass? The “Recovery Compass” helps you retrieve your items after death. As long as you hold the Recovery Compass in hand, its needle always points in the direction of the place where you last died. This makes it easy to get straight to your death location.

Minecraft Recovery Compass

If you find yourself in the wrong dimension or haven’t died yet, the needle simply spins wildly because it cannot locate a place – just like it does with a conventional compass.

How to craft the “Recovery Compass”? For the Recovery Compass, you need a regular compass (i.e., 4 iron ingots and 1 redstone). Additionally, you need 8 “Echo Shards”, which you then arrange around the compass – and the “Recovery Compass” is ready and immediately usable.

“Echo Shards” are a new resource from the upcoming patch 1.19. You can only find them in the special chests of the “Ancient Cities”. This is a new, large complex that can spawn deep in your Minecraft world – but is also the domain of the terrifying Warden.

Of course, you should keep this compass in a chest near your bed, so you can quickly grab it when you have died. If you had it in your inventory before death and it then lies with all other items at your death location, that would be a bit ironic.

What do you think of the “Recovery Compass”? A useful item that you will surely use often? Or does the panicked search for the death location without clues simply belong to Minecraft?

Lost Ark punishes you when you leave your guild – “One can only shake their head”

In Lost Ark, some players are currently complaining about a system related to guilds. Some claim it is a relic of the past and needs to change as soon as possible. We explain what is going on.

What is the problem? If you leave a guild in Lost Ark, there is a penalty. This is fundamentally a concept that players don’t often see. However, in Lost Ark, it is so unusual that many players are now complaining about it on reddit.

The penalty you receive from the game increases every time you leave a guild. While you are only penalized for 24 hours the first time you leave a guild, the punishment is already 4 days the second time. The third time, your penalty lasts even 15 days, which is over two weeks.

This is especially problematic if you want to leave an inactive guild, of which there are currently many. But that’s not all — the penalty system also applies if you leave a guild involuntarily.

  • You will be penalized if you leave the guild voluntarily
  • There is a penalty if you are kicked out of the guild
  • And you even receive a penalty if the guild leader disbands the guild and you suddenly find yourself without one
Start video
The 5 Reasons for the Incredible Success of Lost Ark

Leaving a guild makes you useless for another

What does the penalty look like? Lost Ark prevents you from actively participating in other guilds during the penalty period. This means that while it is possible to join a new guild immediately, that guild has nothing from you at first. You only achieve the status of a full guild member after the penalty period has expired.

This means you cannot donate to the guild or complete quests, nor do you get access to the guild shop. Aside from the actual guild chat, you gain no benefit from joining the group until the penalty time is over.

Can you bypass the penalty? Completely it is not possible, but if you stay in the same guild for a long time, the scaling of the penalty time resets at least. Specifically, this happens after you have maintained the status of an active guild member in a guild for 30 days.

If you leave a guild for the first time and join a new one, you cannot do anything for 24 hours initially. However, if you leave that guild again after 31 days, your penalty time expires, and you again have only 24 hours of penalty after leaving.

However, if you have already left a guild twice, and now do it a third time and therefore have a penalty of 15 days, this scaling only resets after 45 days in the same guild (15 days penalty + 30 days as an active member).

“The system is stupid and nobody likes it”

The players are annoyed: The topic recently boiled over on reddit when a player expressed frustration about the system. Many others asserted that they had never heard of it, which contributed to igniting the discussion. After only 24 hours, the post had over 1,400 upvotes and 268 comments.

Given that many guilds have currently become inactive, as some players were only present at the start in the MMORPG, fans cannot understand why the system is still in place. One player writes: “The system is a relic from a time when the MMORPG was in decline and should no longer be here,” and receives much support for this.

The majority of commenting fans feel wrongfully punished and hope that the system will soon be revised so that they are no longer punished for leaving a guild that offers them nothing as players anymore.

What do the fans say? We would also like to highlight some of the comments here to better represent the general mood in the reddit thread:

  • Tsuyoiosrs writes: “It would be very good if you could join guilds without penalty. Half of the people in my guild have stopped playing, but of course, it’s now my fault that I’m stuck in an inactive guild.”
  • Riki-Riki writes: “The system really needs to change. You even receive a penalty if you get kicked. That’s just wild.”
  • knave_of_knives says: “I am stuck in the same situation, it’s incredibly frustrating. If I want to join a guild and they want me, but I can’t do anything for two weeks.”

What do you think about the concept of guilds? Do you see the penalties as justified, or do you also think the system should change? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments here at MeinMMO, we look forward to hearing from you.

Are you having fun with Elden Ring? Here are 2 games from the same creators that you should definitely check out

Elden Ring has gained numerous fans and is a huge success. But what if you want more? As part of FYNG (Find Your Next Game), MeinMMO introduces you to two games by the same developers: Sekiro and Bloodborne.

The success of Elden Ring is likely to bring many new players who have never held a FromSoftware game before.

Those who are now hooked and might have already completed Elden Ring could be looking for more content.

We have the two ideal candidates for you that you should definitely check out if this applies to you. They are all representatives of the Soulslike genre.

[toc]

What does Soulslike even mean? FromSoftware has essentially founded a new genre with Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls: the Soulslike genre. This is based on the typical features of these games. They are very challenging and complex. Additionally, there is a very unique way of conveying main and side stories.
The level design is often nested, offering many different areas and interconnected large game worlds. This creates a pull factor and an urge to explore that makes the games so popular. In addition to Demon’s Souls and the Dark Souls series, the new Elden Ring, Bloodborne, and Sekiro also belong to these “Soulslikes.” Leading all these games (with the exception of Dark Souls 2) is development legend Hidetaka Miyazaki.
By now, there are also numerous other games that are based on the so-called “Dark Souls formula.”

Here’s a quick overview:

  • Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice was the last game from FromSoftware before Elden Ring. It stands out the most from all the games and tells a much more straightforward story.
    • The setting is based on Japan during the Sengoku period, at the end of the 15th century, albeit with a hefty fantasy influence.
  • Bloodborne was created in collaboration with Sony and is a PlayStation exclusive. It takes the typical Soulslike elements and incorporates them into a unique setting that blends werewolf horror with H. P. Lovecraft.
    • You fight your way through a terribly beautiful and very bloody world reminiscent of Victorian London in the 19th century.

Both games offer enough similarities to Elden Ring to appeal to its fans, but also enough elements that set them apart from the open-world giant.

Why aren’t we comparing here with Dark Souls and Demon’s Souls?

We consciously decided against it, as Dark Souls has by far the greatest parallels to Elden Ring.

Therefore, one can give a recommendation here without much explanation: If you want more Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1-3 are very well suited. Demon’s Souls is also highly recommended. Especially if you could buy a PS5 and can play the remake, which graphically even puts the newer Elden Ring to shame.

But since Elden Ring is essentially a larger, better Dark Souls with many more features, we focused here on the two games that still offer enough of their own elements to stand out more from the open-world game.

We begin here with the probably more similar title: Bloodborne.

Bloodborne is regarded as a challenging horror masterpiece – unfortunately only on PlayStation

What kind of game is this?

  • Bloodborne is played from a third-person perspective.
  • The gameplay is comparable to games like Dark Souls or Elden Ring, but the pace is faster.
  • The game rewards high risk-taking and demands aggressive tactics; you cannot hide behind heavy armor and shields.
  • For that, you have plenty of so-called trick weapons available. These can switch between two different forms, essentially allowing you to have multiple weapons in one.
  • Typical of FromSoftware games, there is also a mysterious story with bizarre characters.

The big catch: Unfortunately, the game has only been released for PlayStation consoles so far. There have been rumors about a PC port, but there are no real clues yet. Thus, PC and Xbox players unfortunately have to pass unless you have a PS4 or PS5 at home.

Here’s what it’s about: You find yourself in the game as a hunter in a dream. This “dream” brings you to Yharnam, a vast city.

This city has been overrun by beasts; death, blood, and chaos reign everywhere. People transform into monsters, monsters into people, and so on. You must navigate and survive as a hunter in this world.

Along the way, you collect better equipment and grow stronger. As you continue to fight forward, you also learn more about the story, which revolves around these strange events.

Notably, aggressive gameplay is rewarded. If you take hits and strike back immediately, you can regain a part of the lost health points. This further incentivizes risk.

Bloodborne primarily differentiates itself from other FromSoftware games through its horror setting. If you’re a fan of H. P. Lovecraft, you should definitely enjoy the incredibly beautiful and sometimes grotesque design of the enemies.

How does Elden Ring actually appeal to players who have never played Dark Souls?
von Tarek Zehrer

Differences and similarities to Elden Ring

Here are the gameplay differences to Elden Ring:

  • Smaller, more compact game world.
  • Fewer weapons, but with trick features.
  • Overall, around 40 hours significantly shorter playtime for a single playthrough.
  • Setting is much darker and bloodier.
  • More horror elements.
  • Multiplayer is present, but not very active.
  • Aggressive gameplay thanks to “HP refund”.
  • Faster gameplay thanks to shorter dodge animations.
  • Chalice dungeons can be procedurally generated and offer extra content with good loot and lore.

Here are the similarities to Elden Ring:

  • Level design corresponds to the legacy dungeons in Elden Ring.
  • RPG mechanics, classes, and leveling work almost the same.
  • The way the story is presented is very similar.
  • Multiplayer works on the same summoning principle.
  • Gameplay feels similar, apart from the faster pace.
  • Similar structure in main story and side quests.
  • Mysterious, dark story with equally bizarre characters.
  • A playthrough can take over 100 hours depending on play style.

By the way: If you’re now interested in Bloodborne, you can get the game for free on PS5 through the PS+ Essentials.

If you enjoyed Elden Ring for its nested level design, RPG mechanics, dark story, and unique setting, you’ll be very pleased with Bloodborne.

Bloodborne received high praise from critics and players

This is how it’s rated: On Metacritic, Bloodborne received a very good score of 92 from critics. The community ranks it similarly well with a score of 8.9 from players. Bloodborne is repeatedly referred to by fans as the best game from FromSoftware even after the release of Elden Ring.

Our colleagues at GamePro rated it 88 out of 100 points at the time of their review. Dimi Halley wrote in the review:

For a game tester, Bloodborne is the final boss among games. You have way too little time and must bring all your skills to get through the hell known as Yharnam without help. But maybe that’s why it was such an intense experience. I felt like the pioneer, the first person to walk the dark streets with a torch in hand and unravel the mystery behind the Victorian town.

And thanks to the faster battles, it was also a sweaty experience for a Souls veteran like me. Already after two to three hours, I no longer missed the shield because the quick dodging has a charm of its own – after every victory, I feel like a gamepad professional. Overall, Bloodborne can easily keep up with the Souls games, but I’m very curious how the multiplayer will play out in comparison.

The associated DLC, The Old Hunter, also received very good reviews. This could achieve a critic score of 87 on Metacritic, while the community gives it an 8.8 this time.

If you’re looking for an even greater challenge or even bigger differences from Elden Ring, you should definitely check out FromSoftware’s last game before Elden Ring: Sekiro.

Destiny 2: Oath of the Scholar – How to Master the 1st Raid Challenge “Quick Destruction”

In Destiny 2 there are new challenges in the current raid “The Oryx’s Vow.” We’ll explain what that is and, above all, how you can master the challenge “Quick Destruction.”

What is a raid challenge? All raids in Destiny 2 are a demanding group activity and are part of the endgame. Players face tricky puzzles together in raids, overcome jumping sections, and ultimately kill the toughest bosses, who will drop prestigious weapons and armor.

For those who find that not enough, they can face a so-called challenge in a raid. While they still involve the classic raid mechanics, they also limit certain play styles, requiring players to often adjust their team tactics to succeed.

All challenges usually take place in a specific raid encounter or phase. In the raid “The Oryx’s Vow” there are a total of four such encounters – jumping sections are excluded.

The challenge takes place in the first encounter of the raid “The Oryx’s Vow.”

How to succeed in the challenge “Quick Destruction”

This is the first encounter: The raid challenge “Quick Destruction” takes place in the first phase of the Witch Queen raid “The Oryx’s Vow.”

Previously, you had to pick up special bounties from Hawthorne for this, but that has changed. The challenge is automatically active when the raid starts. You’ll see the relevant information in the lower-left corner when you start the raid.

To specifically complete the challenge “Quick Destruction,” you must defeat the three Unstoppable Champions that spawn at the three pillars simultaneously. If you fail to do that, you will receive the message “Challenge failed.” To try again, you can simply have everyone die to restart the encounter.

To visually understand how the challenge “Quick Destruction” succeeds and runs, we recommend the video from IPhiniX.

This is how the raid challenge “Quick Destruction” works.

Tips for the challenge

Basically, the challenge requires good communication and the use of a Champion mod. Once a champion spawns, it should be communicated. The champions do not spawn at the same time, but when you defeat one of the Glyph Keeper in one of the rooms.

Occupy the champions until the others have spawned as well. It’s best to use a weapon with Unstoppable mod and something with which you can deal massive damage quickly, like a rocket launcher or directly with a damage super, which is your super ability.

Since Unstoppable Champions are very damage-resistant as long as they are not stunned, you should be prepared to break them multiple times and shoot them down repeatedly before you can kill them.

Also, keep in mind that the champions can disappear at the end of the respective rotation.

What rewards are there? If you successfully complete the challenge, in addition to the completion of the title plaque “Scholar-Killer,” you will also receive bonus loot. Besides the standard chest at the end of the encounter, another chest will appear shortly after. This chest also contains top-tier equipment. So it’s worth putting in the effort.

As each encounter offers you special loot, this means that for this challenge, you may obtain either the “Resonance Fury” helmet, the chest armor, or the leg armor, or the submachine gun “Submission,” the fusion rifle “Redemption,” as well as the linear fusion rifle “Catastrophic.”

After 86 terrible seconds, Valorant permanently bans a hot YouTube star

The 19-year-old YouTuber Darren “IShowSpeed” Watkins Jr. has become a star in gaming in just 11 months and is shaping live streaming on YouTube. However, his career in Valorant is now over. After a clip of IShowSpeed went viral on the internet, a Riot employee immediately banned him permanently. A sexist and hateful performance was the reason.

Who is IShowSpeed?

  • The 19-year-old American Darren Watkins Jr. comes from Cincinnati. His YouTube channel has grown from 100,000 subscribers (April 2021) to 6 million in 11 months: He is undoubtedly one of the biggest winners of the last year.
  • His breakthrough on YouTube came when his fans started uploading clips of him on TikTok. This accelerated his growth significantly: He also collaborated with musicians.
  • Unlike many gaming YouTubers who produce classic video-on-demand content, IShowSpeed is truly dedicated to live streaming on YouTube: They are building a competition to Twitch. He shows games like Fortnite or NBA2k21 – but he also made a name for himself in Valorant.

3.3 million see the terrible and sexist clip of the streamer

The clip became his downfall: The e-sports journalist Jake Luckey showed a clip of IShowSpeed from Valorant, where he completely loses control, cursing and insulting. He uses racist and sexist slurs, his facial expression is twisted in anger, and his voice cracks.

The low point of the outburst is reached when he hears a female voice in the voice chat:

“Bitch? Is a bitch talking to me? Is a woman talking to me? Get out of the damn game and wash your man’s dishes, bitch!”

That was the reaction: Luckey himself said he now understands why Valorant is considered so toxic. One of the most popular players says such nonsense and is still cheered for it.

The tweet received so much attention that it also prompted a Riot employee, Riot necrotix, to intervene: She said that such a person should not be in their community. She permanently banned him from Valorant. She thanked the e-sports journalist and encouraged him to continue reporting on such matters – this way, Riot can make Valorant safer.

After she saw the 86-second clip, a Riot employee permanently banned the streamer from Valorant.

What the YouTuber says: IShowSpeed comments on this clip. He says:

  • On the day the clip was made, he was constantly being racially insulted himself. People talked about his deceased aunt. He had “not a good day” that day.
  • He does not want to make excuses – it was clearly his fault. However, it is simply not his typical behavior to shout at people without reason. He was totally in the wrong back then and cannot justify it.
  • However, the clip is already several months old. Since then, he has developed further. He is still very young.

This is what’s behind it: Riot has been striving from day one to ensure that Valorant is presented in a way that makes everyone feel safe and welcome.

After a sexism scandal at Riot Games, they wanted to ensure that female players are protected and safe, especially in Valorant. This was an important point on the agenda. Therefore, the behavior now makes sense.

It is interesting that the clip of IShowSpeed apparently had no consequences for months and now provokes such a strong reaction within a few hours.

Update 8.4., 12:00 PM: The ban of IShowSpeed has caused a big controversy on the internet:

Creator says: Racial insults don’t count because video games aren’t real either

Diablo 3: The Winners and Losers of Season 25 – Who is Leading Just Before the End of the Season?

In Diablo 3 Season 25 ends in a few days. We take a look at the leaderboards and see which classes performed best in S25 and who lands in the lower ranks.

When does Season 25 end? The current season ends on Sunday, April 10, 2022. You have a few days left to enjoy the special content and compete with other players on the leaderboard.

Just before the end, let’s see how each class performed.

Leaderboards from Season 25 on April 7

This is what we show here: We have looked at the current leaderboards from Season 25 in Diablo 3. Here, we present the standings of the European leaderboards in Softcore mode for solo players. The times are from the “Overall” category, which counts all sets of the respective classes.

The data is from April 7, 2022, at 13:20.

  1. Monk with GR 150 in ~ 1 minute and 56 seconds (Here’s the hero profile on Diablo3.com)
  2. Crusader with GR 150 in ~ 4 minutes and 9 seconds (Here’s the hero profile on Diablo3.com)
  3. Demon Hunter with GR 150 in ~ 5 minutes and 11 seconds (Here’s the hero profile on Diablo3.com)
  4. Wizard with GR 150 in ~ 5 minutes and 38 seconds (Here’s the hero profile on Diablo3.com)
  5. Witch Doctor with GR 150 in ~ 6 minutes and 20 seconds (Here’s the hero profile on Diablo3.com)
  6. Necromancer with GR 150 in ~ 6 minutes and 36 seconds (Here’s the hero profile on Diablo3.com)
  7. Barbarian with GR 150 in ~ 7 minutes and 11 seconds (Here’s the hero profile on Diablo3.com)
Diablo 3 leaderboard April 7
The current leaderboard overview from April 7

Which builds are being played? In the listing, we have linked each hero profile with which the record was achieved. Whether the builds with which the times were set are still in place is not guaranteed. By looking at the hero profile, you get an insight into which skills and items the characters are currently equipped with.

What stands out? In Season 25, the Monk is showing to be very strong again. Already in our recap in February, Monks were far ahead in first place and were able to extend their lead even more in the last days. They have a significant advantage over the midfield, which boxes through the Greater Rifts in 4 to 5 minutes.

Among the losers in this season are the Barbarians, who need more than 4 minutes longer for a GR-Rift Clear compared to the first place. But “loser” must be seen relatively here. Because level 150 in Greater Rifts is currently the highest of feelings. More is not possible. A time of under 10 minutes is simply incredibly strong. The seasonal theme of S25 plays all its trump cards here.

That’s why Barbarians are also really strong – just not as fast as Monks.

How do you like Season 25 and the development that all classes can clear Greater Rift 150 and in the end, it’s just seconds that decide over the rankings?

Twitter founder says he regrets his contribution to today’s internet: “I am to blame”

Jack Dorsey is one of the founders of Twitter. Now he states that he regrets Twitter. Because with it he made the internet what it is today.

Today millions of users use Twitter and discuss with other people all over the world. Just recently, the company stated, who gamers are considered the most important in the world according to Twitter.

But one of the founders behind the giant network, Jack Dorsey, regrets the development of Twitter. Because the social network is partly responsible for all internet data being held by just a handful of companies. And he feels partly to blame for that.

Founder regrets the creation of Twitter

What exactly does he say? Jack Dorsey announced his exit from Twitter at the end of December. In a tweet on April 2, he explained that there have been many exciting developments and achievements on the internet in the past.

However, the fact that today all data is centrally collected by a handful of companies does not please him, and he feels partly responsible for it. He writes in his tweet on April 2:

The days of usenet, irc, the web… even email (with PGP)… were amazing. The centralization of discovery and identity [of people] in companies has really harmed the internet.

I am aware that I am partly to blame, and I regret it.

Jack Dorsey, co-founder of Twitter

What does this have to do with Twitter? Twitter is an example of the centralization of data and information. Thus, Twitter is a popular source of information and news, and well-known leaks or announcements are spread via Twitter.

Prominent presidents have also used Twitter as a means of communication with the people. The remaining data lies with a few large companies:

  • Allegedly, Google receives more than 90% of all search queries. Other search engines hardly play a role and share the rest.
  • According to analysts, two-thirds of all advertisements are said to be with Amazon, Facebook, and Google.

Other developments are currently shaping the internet

Another major development in gaming right now is blockchain and NFTs. But these virtual currencies are liked by very few users and there are regular discussions about meaning, purpose, and energy waste.

However, according to the co-founder of reddit, blockchain and other technologies could become an important factor for the future of gaming.

Reddit founder believes blockchain will radically change gaming – What is it even?

Lost Ark brings the smallest update yet today – With 4 hours server down

In Lost Ark, the weekly update arrives on April 7th, bringing the smallest changes ever seen in the Thursday patches. After the roadmap announcement, many players had hoped for more. We at MeinMMO will tell you everything you need to know.

Update 12:30 PM: The servers surprisingly came back online half an hour earlier than planned. We wish you good loot!

What’s in the update? This week’s weekly update of Lost Ark is smaller than all previous ones. Nevertheless, the patch brings some bug fixes for quests and a downtime of about 4 hours, during which the server status will be offline.

Furthermore, this week’s patch only addresses minor issues and fixes the remaining remnants of the HTML bug that wreaked havoc in Lost Ark two weeks ago.

You can find the entire content of today’s update here:

  • A bug has been fixed where you could get stuck in a loading screen. If this happened, you previously had to contact support.
  • Another bug that wrongly designated certain metallurgy books as Tier 3 items when exchanged with vendor Mio is now no longer existent.
  • The patch also fixes some remnants of the HTML bug and removes unwanted characters that could be used in chat.

The update has been met with discontent in the community so far. The bug that shows incorrect event times since the time change in Lost Ark will not be fixed this week either. However, it was announced in last week’s patch that work is being done on it.

Last week’s patch was not well received by the fans.

How long will the maintenance last? The servers will be taken offline at 9:00 AM German time and are expected to remain offline for about 4 hours. So according to the current status, you can start again at 1:00 PM.

We will of course keep you updated on the maintenance work in this article.

However, you probably shouldn’t expect a larger download with the changes, so you will likely be able to play immediately.

The first reactions from players are mixed

What do the fans say? Under the tweet announcing the update, the very first reactions to the patch notes are rather reserved. Many fans are upset that the time bug has still not been fixed.

However, many players are hopeful that next week’s patch will bring the new class, the lancer, into the game. The community is pinning its hopes on the fact that the login event will end in a week and the last major addition, the Argos raid, appeared precisely at that time. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

Others praise Amazon for improving the game, even if in small steps, every week. They argue that you can’t expect something amazing every week.

We would like to share some of the comments here to capture the initial mood:

  • Arama Gamer writes: “Is that all? Isn’t there something more important than fixing these 3 small issues in 4 hours?”
  • westonsm writes: “I just want to say thank you for the fixes and the good work you are doing. Lost Ark is a good game with a bright future.”
  • KingSzakacs writes: “Hmm, I actually don’t care what comes this week. The good stuff will come next Thursday anyway.”
  • Yoshichan writes: “That’s all nice and good, but can you please finally fix this in-game clock? It’s really terrible.”

What do you think of the update? Are you happy that you have an extra week to prepare for the big things? Or do you also think that the four hours are a bit unjustified? Feel free to let us know in the comments here at MeinMMO.

LoL: Twitch streamer is destroyed in a match – Calls a developer live and complains

Emily “Emiru” Schunk is a cosplayer and streamer of League of Legends on Twitch. In a match in LoL on April 6, she played an AD carry in the bot lane and was killed by the enemy jungler without being able to defend herself. She then called a developer at Riot Games live and complained about what he was thinking when designing the champ Viego.

What was the reason for the call? Emiru was playing the character Jhin. While he deals decent damage, he is equipped with little mobility. When the enemy jungler Viego appeared for a gank, it was quickly over for her character.

The streamer was mainly frustrated because she could not move even once during the entire duel. She was basically permanently stunned. She could not understand this and therefore contacted the developer.

Who did Emiru call? Immediately after dying, she called the developer August Browning. He designed Viego and referred to him as one of the “most frustrating champions” one can face in LoL.

Although August was somewhat surprised by the streamer’s call, he responded to Emiru’s criticism with a funny remark. This earned him sympathy points with Emiru’s viewers.

Start video
Twitch: Who were actually the first successful streamers?

“I designed him as an opponent to Jhin so that Emily has a really hard time”

What exactly did the developer say? Emiru started the call with the sentence: “Why did you design Viego so that he can defeat me with full health? I was stunned the entire time. I was hit by Jhin’s ultimate and then he just walked up to me and killed me.”

The developer seemed somewhat puzzled, but he had the right answer ready:

When I developed Viego, I thought: “One day Emily will play against him, and I want her to have a really hard time,” so I designed him as an opponent for Jhin. That’s it, that’s the real story.

In fact, August Browning also conceptualized the champion Jhin.

Emiru started to laugh in response to his answer and jokingly said that she hates Riot Games because LoL should actually be her “comfort game”.

The developer also perfectly countered that AD carries sometimes need to be put in their place.

Why does Emiru even have a developer’s phone number? Emiru started her streaming career on Twitch in 2016. There she mainly showcased League of Legends and also cosplays related to it.

Her appearance was an inspiration for the LoL champion Gwen, as a developer from Riot Games later revealed to her (via SVG). Through the cosplays and her collaboration with the organization Cloud9, of which she was part of the stream team for about 18 months, contacts with the devs were also established.

She is now part of the organization One True King, which was founded by Mizkif, Asmongold, and Rich Campbell. The organization was crowned “Best Content Organization” at The Streamer Awards. Asmongold also won an award there and was especially celebrated for his cluttered room.

Emiru’s channel on Twitch is steadily growing, and in the last 30 days, she is ranked 8th in League of Legends based on her average viewership and even 5th when excluding the tournament channels for LEC and LCK (via Sullygnome). She has a large reach on the platform.

What do you think about Emiru’s action? Would you also spontaneously call a developer if you had their phone number? And what would you complain about to them?
