The military shooter Ghost Recon Breakpoint has reached the end of its development. There will be no new content from now on. The team bids farewell with a statement.
This is the status of the game: From now on, Ubisoft will not release any content updates for their shooter Ghost Recon Breakpoint. For the past four months, everything revolved around the last major piece of content, Operation Motherland. But now it’s over. Approximately two and a half years after release, further development will not continue.
We are showing you here the statement of the team and the recent status of Breakpoint.
“We hope you continue to enjoy yourselves”
What the team says: On Twitter, the developers from Ubisoft published a statement:
Hey Ghosts,
First, we want to thank you for all the love and support you have shown to the game. Over the last 2 years, we have released more than 11 updates and supported several unique initiatives. From the Ghost Experience, the return of AI team members, special operations with Sam Fisher, collaborating with R6 operators in Operation Amber Sky, and lastly our “Plant a Tree Project”, we have been busy adding additional content to Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
In the last four months, we released our final content piece: the brand-new mode “Operation Motherland”, tons of new items, including iconic outfits for the 20th anniversary and Quartz items for Ghost Recon Breakpoint.
We will continue to maintain our servers for Ghost Recon Wildlands and Ghost Recon Breakpoint, and we truly hope that you will continue to enjoy the game and have fun playing solo or in co-op with your friends.
On behalf of the entire Ghost Recon team, we want to thank you once again for your constant support and love for the franchise. The feedback you have provided us on Ghost Recon Breakpoint has been very helpful and will help shape the future of the franchise.
Until next time, Ghosts

In the comments, many thank the game and the experiences they were able to have with it. User @_Hunk_1992: writes: “Thank you for making the game. It was my #Breakpoint for getting into the franchise. I will be very attentive to news in the future. It’s hard to say goodbye, but thank you!”
User @dementiaGmg writes: “I have to say, at launch it was a mess, but over time it got better and I eventually really liked it. I enjoyed the RPG features; you could customize your playstyle as you wished. Maybe I’ll come back to see what has been added since I stopped playing.”
What happened recently in Breakpoint? In December 2021, the news spread that Breakpoint now wants to rely on NFTs. A controversial addition to the game that sparked many discussions. This refers to the Quartz items that Ubisoft also mentioned in the statement.
Only a few weeks later, the competition laughed at the poor revenue from the NFTs. These contents are also discussed under the statement on Twitter. A user writes that Breakpoint was so good until they tried to force NFTs into the game. That was really disappointing.
Should you try the game now? MeinMMO author Maik Schneider took a look at Ghost Recon Breakpoint in January 2021. He had been following the game since its chaotic release. His conclusion: Ubisoft’s biggest flop of 2019 is now a really good shooter. Find out in the article whether the shooter is worth it for you now.
