League of Legends has released the new patch 12.10 on the test servers. This update will make some significant changes to the game, primarily weakening healing and shields. More than 30 items will be revised.
What is the goal of the update? For several years, players have complained in LoL that the fights end far too quickly. The damage is too high, while healing and shields have been severely strengthened to counter the high damage.
This “ping-pong” meta was criticized by former LoL pro Doublelift back in October 2021. Since then, the situation has only gotten worse from the perspective of many players.
- The new patch 12.10 aims to increase the natural resistance of champions while simultaneously weakening shields, healing, and damage.
- Additionally, the “Grievous Wounds” will not reduce healing as significantly as before.
- Overall, fights are meant to be slower.
However, Riot does not want to establish a meta where tanks live indefinitely and no kills happen in the first 15 minutes. This balancing act will likely be challenging, although the mentioned changes have initially received positive feedback from the community.

When will patch 12.10 be released? The new update is expected to be released on May 25.
What do you think about the planned adjustments? Are the adjustments to healing and damage enough to solve the problem, and are you concerned that Riot might weaken healing too much and damage too little? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments.
Recently, Riot had to adjust a champion because a Twitch streamer used a crazy suicide tactic:
