In Fortnite, players have been terrorized by a weapon for months. It requires no training to wield. Even professionals are ripped to shreds. This is the Drum Shotgun. What makes it so powerful and why it should best go back into the vault, you can find out here.
What kind of weapon is this? This is the Drum Shotgun resurrected from the dead. This pump had been locked away in the vault for several seasons and could not be used by players. When Season 2 in Chapter 3 started, a revamped version of the shotgun appeared on the battlefield.
As the extinct legend could finally be used again, a large part of the community rejoiced at the return. However, it quickly became clear that the shotgun didn’t go into the vault for no reason.
Fortnite professionals like Ninja don’t even stand a chance to evade the Drum Shotgun with their skill and therefore die a miserable death.
Even professionals despair and have no chance
What makes the shotgun so devastating? The shotgun can score at ranges that are unusual for a pump, and the damage is exaggerated.
The fire rate gives no opponent time to defend themselves as your 12 shots are fired without delay. Even submachine guns stand no chance against this shotgun.
Streamer Ninja, who has found his way back to Fortnite, is so frustrated with the shotgun that he freaks out. Here you can see a clip of his emotional outburst:
Ninja mentions that he hates the shotgun so much. It requires no skill, and therefore he demands that it should be removed from the game immediately. He also adds that he enjoys neither dying by the weapon nor using it. The weapon is only used to allow players to secure a win safely.
Will Epic Games remove the gun? So far, Epic has not mentioned anything about the new weapon rotation in Season 3. However, since Fortnite offers different weapons in each new season to keep the meta fresh, it is likely that the shotgun might go back into the vault in Season 3.
But it could also be that the gun will still be present in Season 3. In the Update 20.30, Epic left some buffs on shotguns, including the Drum Pump, from which players benefited. It remains to be seen what the development team will decide.
How can one still defend themselves? To counter the shotgun, you should keep your distance from your opponent. If you find yourself in close combat, try to create distance and use an assault rifle or a SMG to damage your opponent.
However, try not to approach these players aggressively, as they will exploit your arrogance and shred you to pieces in seconds. If the distance you gained doesn’t help, try to run away. Sometimes fleeing is the best option to come back later for revenge.
