Everything is very closely intertwined with the story. Every new room is connected to one of the spirits and each spirit has its personal story that I get to know gradually.

Or you can save yourself that. Because by that point, you have outpaced the economy of your opponents by a factor of 10, making the game feel arbitrary in the endgame.
Even on a computer for €3,800 with a Ryzen 9 5900 X, Geforce 3080 TI, and all the bells and whistles, the game slows down and lags.
And the wars work in such a way that you make huge territorial demands, but the opponent ultimately retreats at the last moment and leaves you with only the first demanded province. Simultaneously conducting multiple wars is not possible. You also have to deal with annoying and insignificant rebellions, which your massive army easily crushes.
It is advisable to turn enemy nations into mere puppets right away.
Even if a larger war occurs, Victoria 3 cannot shine: The military aspect is, at best, rudimentary: Because once you have positioned the generals, the rest plays out practically automatically – only with sea invasions can you speed up the war and open new fronts.
Both research and social systems are already decades beyond the end of the game, and there’s simply nothing left that could bring a major change to the game.
Is Paradox aware of the problem? Yes, of course. In the community, Victoria 3 is considered “unplayable” around 1900.
Paradox announced months ago that it apparently lies in the “pop fragmentation”: The game eventually has so many population groups to manage that even modern PCs can’t keep up. They have announced they are working on the problem.
However, the incredibly slow and laggy endgame is something that also hampers other Paradox games even after many years: like Crusader Kings and Stellaris.

At the beginning, when everything is uncertain and every decision counts, the game is exciting and fun.
However, once you are clearly on the winning path and just have to finish the “campaign”, it becomes a true test of patience and a trial.
With different goals and countries like France and the USA, such a campaign can be easily completed, but as Germany, which wants to conquer the world, the weaknesses of Victoria 3 become particularly evident.

What is it about? The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth is a twin-stick shooter with many rogue-lite elements. At the beginning, you control Isaac, who fights against nasty demons in a dark pixel world. At first, you have only your tears available as weapons.
Each level is randomly generated at the start of the game. Rooms are arranged differently, enemies are swapped out, and you find different treasures. At the end of each level, one of the many bosses awaits you.
The deeper you dive into the world, the more abilities you collect throughout a run. Each item makes you more powerful, your tears become poisonous, deal more damage, or get wild effects that you can use to your advantage.
If your life energy is depleted, you must start all over again.
The goal is to survive all levels and unlock one of the many available endings. Certain actions in the game or unlocking new endings in turn unlock new content – more items, new levels, dark bosses, or characters with different starting advantages.
How does it play? As usual for games in the rogue-lite genre, the beginning is particularly hard and mean. There are only a few strong items in the pool, you haven’t yet internalized the controls and don’t know the enemies’ behaviors.
But with each run, it gets a bit better.
The fluid gameplay, the rewarding difficulty, and the wide variety of individual runs lead to an exciting motivation spiral that makes you press the “start game” button again and again.
There is also room in the game for couch friends. A second player can take control of a little buddy that can help Isaac a bit. This can be a different companion each round, with different abilities.
With the DLC “Repentance”, even 4 players can control a full-fledged character simultaneously.
Who is this for? Basically, you can recommend The Binding of Isaac to any player who likes to play a small, short game. The runs can last up to an hour if you make it all the way through to the end. But no longer.
If you are also always looking for a challenge and enjoy games that unfold gradually, then grab this one as well. The developers state that one can sink 500 hours of gameplay.
However, the graphics and design style of The Binding of Isaac may put you off. It features rather simple comic graphics, and many enemies and bosses are… somewhat unappetizing.

What was the clip about? In a video from December 15, NateBosa invites his mother onto the stream. She actually comes in through the door shortly after, and the following interaction between the two is one big feel-good moment.
It starts right at the greeting – the mother greets the chat, ruffles her son’s hair, and gives him a kiss. Then she introduces herself as “Nate’s Mum,” even though she obviously looks much too young and cool for that.
The streamer explains that 9 real people are watching him and receives praise from his mother: “No bots? That’s great! […] It’s like hanging out with 9 people and you don’t even have to leave the house.”
When the mother is supposed to guess where the people watching her son are from, she exclaims for the viewers’ amusement “Korea!” NateBosa explains that she always does that; in her mind, he has 7,000 viewers. She just has big dreams for her son, the mother replies.

How did the clip spread? After the clip gained some attention on TikTok, it was picked up by other outlets. The US magazine Dexerto shared the footage on Twitter on December 28 and published an article on the story the next day (via Twitter).
At Dexerto, the video received over 13 million views. And at least some of those people went straight to NateBosa’s Twitch channel. Almost overnight, he gained over 32,000 new followers. During the streams after the clip went viral, up to 1,300 people were watching simultaneously (via sullygnome).
Why is the clip so well-received? Mother and son simply appear to be genuinely nice, likable people in the snippet. Their interaction also feels pleasant: the two seem to have a good relationship, the son is happy to tell his mother about his successes, and while she teases him a bit, she also celebrates with him.
This strikes a chord with viewers: Many find it lovely how supportive the mother is or say they wish they had a mother like that.
The positive attitude of the duo is also well-received. They compare the 9 viewers NateBosa has at that moment to a room where that many people are present and realize that that’s quite a lot. “That’s a great way to think about it,” writes a TikTok user (via TikTok).
By now, there is a new clip in which NateBosa and his mother react to 1,000 viewers. It has already garnered 42,000 views in 2 days (via Twitch).
Why is this exciting? Besides a touching moment, the clip also impressively shows the influence of social media.
The story has also been picked up by journalist Jake Lucky. He posted several times on Twitter about NateBosa and his mother and tracked how the follower and viewer counts of the streamer soared. “That’s the power of the internet,” said Jake Lucky.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 – CoD returned to Steam after 5 years. Feels a bit out of place because it actually belongs in the Battle.net launcher. But it is enough for the top tier.
The order of the games is arbitrary – all had over 240,000 concurrent players at some point in 2022.
What stands out about the list? In “most played”, free-to-play games clearly have an advantage. Only Elden Ring, CoD: Modern Warfare 2, and Dying Light 2 are “true purchase titles.” Ark nominally requires a purchase as well, but it’s available very cheaply.
The Steam list also shows that 2022 was a rather “quiet” gaming year, only Elden Ring and Lost Ark are new game brands, CoD and Dying Light are sequels to established series.
Many other games have been around for several years. CS:GO and DOTA 2 are Valve’s in-house classics that are on this list every year.
The biggest surprise is certainly “Goose Goose Duck”, which simply seems to function as an “Let’s play Among Us without paying for it” alternative.

The Twitch streamer Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler hosted his second sports event on the streaming platform Joyn with “The Great Kick”. Here at MeinMMO you will learn how the event went.
What kind of event was it? “The Great Kick” was a football event by Twitch streamer Trymacs in collaboration with the streaming platform Joyn, an internet offering from the TV stations ProSieben and Sat.1.
Joyn has already hosted several events this year with the big names of the German streaming world: Trymacs kicked things off with his boxing event, followed by a game show by Jens “Knossi” Knossala and the escape show by Marcel “MontanaBlack” Eris.
However, The Great Kick was not in a good position from the beginning: Originally, the event was supposed to take place on an ice surface, but the entertainer Stefan Raab put a stop to that. By then, tickets had already been sold, and the event had to be changed.

How the event went: The Great Kick was held between 6 teams composed of German influencers. There was a first and second leg, a semi-final, and ultimately the grand final. Each game lasted 7 minutes.
In between, mini-games such as “Captain’s Bubble” were held, where the players’ upper bodies were in large plastic balls.
Fans could watch the event either live on site at the Lanxess Arena or exclusively on Joyn. At the same time, there was a broadcast on Trymacs’s Twitch channel, which was only intended for viewer interaction, as the image was pixelated and only elevator music was heard instead of the actual audio.
What went wrong? Even before the event, the participant list had been a bit chaotic, and there were further changes during the event itself. MontanaBlack, who was initially supposed to be team captain and later a field reporter, dropped out completely, and instead, “7 vs. Wild” participant Starletnova took over as the reporter.
During warm-ups, there was another drop-out: YouTuber Sebastian “Rewinside” Meyer got injured and left the arena on a stretcher. He took it in good humor and even reported from the ambulance via Instagram and Twitter.

How is Rewinside doing? The YouTuber provided information about his injury in an Instagram story. Apparently, he sustained an injury to his patella and meniscus, a part of the knee joint.
For Rewinside, it’s already the second event by Trymacs that he cannot attend: He was also unable to participate due to illness in the boxing event in April.

How was the event received? The great football atmosphere didn’t quite seem to set in. The viewer numbers from Joyn are not known, but the available data provides some clues.
On average, only 7,500 viewers followed the event on Trymacs’s Twitch chat – thus, The Great Kick ranked 5th among the streams with the fewest viewers from Trymacs this year. In his boxing event, nearly 22,500 viewers participated in the chat on average (via sullygnome).
Since the event was broadcast on Joyn and not on Twitch, actual viewer numbers can’t be derived from this, but it seems that interest was relatively low.
If you think that the absent viewers cheered along from home, you are wrong: of the 18,000 available seats in the Lanxess Arena, numerous seats remained empty. A Twitter user shared pictures of the event showing that while the lower tiers were well filled, there was yawning emptiness further up.

Despite a Christmas promotion where you could get 2 tickets for the price of one, over half of the seats were still available on the night before the event (via Twitter). In comparison: 13,500 fans attended Trymacs’s boxing event.
So there are many indications that the event fell significantly short of expectations. What consequences this will have for such influencer events on Joyn remains to be seen.
Who actually won? Even without a captain, Rewinside’s team qualified for the final. After receiving medical attention, the injured YouTuber was back on site to cheer for his team. Nevertheless, they lost 1:3 to Marc Eggers’ team.
A few weeks ago, there was already an accident during MontanaBlack’s escape show Get Away on Joyn. YouTuber Kayla Shyx broke both arms. In a video, she talked about her injury and criticized the final game: it was not very fair.
