I tested the “ultimate mopping robot” for 800 € – Yeedi Floor 3 Station in the test

The new Yeedi Floor 3 Station is touted as the “ultimate mopping robot” along with the robot. Is it worth the money? Find out here in the test.

What kind of device is this? The brand Yeedi now offers the new Floor 3 Station. This is a station with two tanks: one for dirty water and one for clean water. It provides the ability to clean the robot’s mops and dry them with hot air. For the price, the matching robot is also included.

With the set, the manufacturer Yeedi (a sub-brand of Ecovacs) clearly targets users who want to mop frequently. A suction station for the dust bin cannot be found here. The dust is still emptied the “old school” way, by manually emptying the bin.

Yeedi gave me the opportunity to test the Floor 3 Station for MeinMMO, and here I will tell you how the device performed for me.

Yeedi-Floor-3-Station-Roboter

Who is writing here? I have been dealing with vacuum and mopping robots for about 5 years. I have had devices ranging from 150 to 1,000 euros running around my home. I know robots from Medion, Bissel, Tesvor, Roborock, and Yeedi well. In my household lives my German Shepherd Kyra, who often has dirty paws after a walk in the woods. Additionally, she sheds her fur throughout the year. I am testing how the Floor 3 Station performs in this scenario.

I’ll show you here:

What does the device offer?

The First Impression

For me, it is the first robot that focuses on mopping. So far, I have only had devices that vacuum well but only do very superficial mopping. Like the Yeedi Vac Max. My other vacuum robots have just a small water tank + mop at the back end of the device. They drag the wet cloth behind them while cleaning. With little pressure, they only pick up the superficial dust from the floor. With stains, they quickly reach their limits.

With the Yeedi Floor 3 Station, the tables turn. The convenient dust eject station, which I know from Yeedi in the Max variant but also from Roborock, is not here. Instead, I have to manually remove and empty the dust bin after cleaning.

A positive change, however, is that the mops are automatically cleaned during and after the cleaning. Curious, I pushed the robot into its parking bay to charge after setting up the station and got it ready for the first cleaning task.

What can I set? In the Yeedi app, I set how long the cleaning cloths should be dried with hot air after mopping, 2, 3, or 4 hours. Cleaning the mops or drying them with hot air can be started manually in the app.

There are more options for setting the suction power between “Quiet”, “Standard”, “Maximal” and “Maximal+”. The water flow offers the settings “Low”, “Medium” and “High”. For wooden floors, less water is used, while for PVC, more can be used. For a particularly thorough cleaning, you can set the number of passes to “2” instead of “1”.

In the deeper settings, a Do Not Disturb mode can be set, which silences the robot between certain times and turns off the light. The automatic suction power boost and an option to resume cleaning after charging can also be activated there.

The “Avoidance mode” regulates whether the robot is operating with “normal” obstacle avoidance or “precise” obstacle avoidance. If many things are lying on the floor (dog toys, children’s toys, etc.), the “precise” mode is more suitable, as the vacuum moves even more cautiously. However, the downside is that the obstacles are circumvented more widely, which means that more areas are omitted during cleaning.

Why a Vacuum Robot Improves My Gaming Room
von Patrick Freese

The First Ride

In my Yeedi app on my smartphone, I am guided step by step through the program before the first cleaning: I should open all doors, remove loose cables, tie back long curtains. The usual procedure that applies to all other vacuum robots so that they do not get tangled in cables or fabrics and find access to all areas.

The first tour took just under 1 minute. The robot got stuck on a carpet whose edges it did not recognize and declared the apartment visit finished. After just one room. So I had to delete the map, remove the carpet, and restarted the first cleaning. This time it scanned the entire apartment and created a map to work with.

How long does the cleaning take? After about 45 minutes, it had completed the first cleaning of my 70m² apartment. It should be noted that due to carpets and furniture, the cleaning area is about 38m². This is a bit faster than my Yeedi Vac 2 Pro, which takes about 60 minutes for the same apartment. My Roborock Q7 Max+ takes about 50 minutes for this area and is therefore in the middle between the Floor 3 Station and the Vac 2 Pro.

How is the result? During cleaning, the robot first drives into a room and runs along the contours, then the middle of the room. Most of my tested devices use this principle since it is efficient. In my case, after each room it then goes to the station and cleans the mops. I quite like that so that the dirt from one room does not simply get spread across the entire floor of the apartment. The first room was the one farthest from the station. Also pretty smart so that the device does not drive through already cleaned rooms with the dirty mops on its way to mop cleaning.

Overall, I was very pleased with the cleaning. It was exciting to observe how the device is cleaned in the station. Water is drawn from the clean water tank to clean the mops in the bottom of the station. The dirty water is then pumped into the second tank. When the lid of the station is flipped open, you can see the dirty water bubbling into the tank.

The floor looks fresh and clean after the cleaning. I have laminate flooring in the hallway and three rooms. In the kitchen and bathroom, there is PVC flooring. To prepare, I spread a few coffee stains on the kitchen floor and let them sit for about a week. With these stains, the cleaning device could not cope; they remained during both the normal and the stain cleaning. Cleaning was done with water, without cleaning agents.

Other, fresher tea and dog food stains, however, were effortlessly removed from the floor.

Overall, the mopping result is quite good. The idea with these robots is that they are in use daily. This prevents stains from drying out for several days. In the long term, there should therefore be no problems.

Pros and Cons in Daily Use

What I like: Thanks to the station, the mops are regularly cleaned during the cleanup. This saves work and is very practical.

The targeted cleaning of certain rooms works as usual well through the Yeedi app. I have set up a cleaning schedule, so the cleaning starts at the same time every day. This works without problems.

The station operates pleasantly quietly when washing the mops. You can hear the water splashing, but it’s not disturbing. The sounds of the pump are also not bothersome in everyday life, as they are only heard during the cleaning itself. When the station dries the mops with hot air, that’s hardly audible.

The carpet detection works reliably. In my previous cleanings, no carpet was accidentally mopped, only occasionally a corner.

Yeedi-Floor-3-Station-Wischmopps
After two weeks of daily use: the mops still look great

What I do not like: Regularly, I bring the robot from the upper floor to the lower floor to mop there as well. Switching between the two apartment maps within the app is quite difficult and relies on the robot recognizing that it is on a different floor. This requires restarting the app multiple times, which is frustrating. Upon inquiring with Yeedi, I was told that the multi-floor function in the app has not yet been updated. By the end of May 2023, this feature should be available in the app.

The vacuuming works okay. With dog hair, the dust bin does not cope well as the entrance is quite narrow and can easily get clogged with long hair, preventing more from fitting in (even though there is still space).

The robot has problems recognizing the height of some furniture. It did not want to go under a TV stand that actually still has enough space above. Under a sofa in my apartment, it only mopped about 15cm at the front and the sides, leaving the area directly under the sofa uncleaned.

On uneven floors, as is the case in my old building, small areas here and there are missed with the mops because they do not touch the floor due to the bump.

For the “ultimate mopping robot”, I also find it unfavorable that I have to fill the water tank on the robot separately for the mops, and that the water is not drawn from the clean water tank. This concerns the small 200ml water tank, which travels with the vacuum cleaner for cleaning. I have to fill that myself at the tap. There is no redirection of fresh water from the large 4-liter tank.

Pros
  • Mop cleaning in the station very clean
  • Cleaning and schedules via the app work without problems
  • Cleaning station operates quietly
  • Reliable carpet detection
  • Brushes can be easily removed and cleaned
  • Mops can be detached and washed or replaced as needed
Cons
  • Multi-floor function not properly integrated into the app yet
  • Quite small dust bin, which is not optimal for dog hair
  • Unevenness on the floor makes mopping difficult
  • Small water tank that must be filled manually
  • Problems recognizing furniture

Conclusion

In daily use, the Yeedi Floor 3 Station is aimed at users who place great importance on a mopped floor. The obstacle detection has improved well since the predecessors, and my dog’s toys and shoes are safely avoided. With a price of 800 € (as an introductory price on the official Yeedi website on offer for 600 €), it is cheaper than the flagship of the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra, which costs between 1,100 and 1,400 €. However, with the significant difference that the Yeedi Floor 3 Station does not have an automatic suction function, but only cleans and dries the mops.

Those who value convenience and vacuum more than they mop should rather look at a station with automatic suction.

For me as a dog owner, the Floor 3 Station only works if vacuuming is done every day. If my dog is shedding, it becomes critical. The small dust bin would need to be emptied manually at least once during cleaning. Otherwise, the inlet gets clogged and more dirt cannot be sucked up.

Oops, unfortunately this affiliate widget is no longer available.

Practical is the typical Yeedi vacuum cleaner’s renunciation of a laser tower. The obstacle detection occurs from the front and sides, as well as with the bumpers. The new ToF technology allows for quick mapping of the apartment. In my test, the vacuum easily navigated around socks, slippers, and dog toys that I distributed as obstacles on the “test track”. The lower height is actually good for cleaning under furniture. However, some furniture was recognized as obstacles that are actually high enough. Under them, only partial cleaning or none at all was done. Other vacuums have a tower that rotates a laser 360° degrees on top.

So if you are looking for a good mopping robot, the Floor 3 Station is a good product with sophisticated obstacle detection.

Those with a lot of carpet at home and consider mopping just as a “nice addition” are not well served with this product.

Those who prioritize maximum convenience and need both mopping and vacuuming should continue to look at products like the S7 MaxV Ultra

New mod in Destiny 2 lifts annoying restriction from Witch Queen again – Here’s how to win almost always

In the “The Witch Queen” DLC 2022, Destiny 2 imposed an annoying limitation on its players in the PvEvP mode Gambit: ammo boxes. However, a new mod from Lightfall now allows you to bypass this limitation. MeinMMO explains how to take advantage of this practical benefit.

Season 20 solves the limiting problem in Gambit: In the last DLC 2022 “The Witch Queen”, Bungie showed some love for its PvEvP mode Gambit. At that time, some mechanics were polished and even one of the most annoying bosses was removed.

But new limitations were also introduced, such as the boxes for ammunition.

  • Players have since received an ammo box after completing an area.
  • Killing a high-value target grants your squad a pack of heavy ammo.
  • During the final fight, there is another ammo box every 60 seconds.

Nevertheless, especially heavy ammo was always scarce in Gambit – even in Lightfall.

However, anyone activating a specific mod from the seasonal artifact for Gambit in Season 20 can easily lift Bungie’s annoying ammo limitation and almost always win – as long as your opposing team does not play the same tactic.

Destiny 2 shows new insights into Strand in its trailer – The focus in Lightfall

Which new mod makes everything better now? To really heat things up against the ancient one, the final boss in Gambit, and the intruders from your opposing team, you just need the artifact mod “Brick from Beyond” and a Void weapon.

  • Brick from Beyond
    • Defeating a powerful fighter with a Void weapon grants the chance to generate heavy ammo for you and your fire team.

The requirements for “Brick from Beyond” are perfect for Gambit. You have quite a few powerful targets in almost every round, giving you a high chance of ammo.

Practical for Gambit and content where little heavy ammo drops

If you then visit the PvEvP mode Gambit as a team and everyone activates this artifact mod, you will also pass each other the heavy ammo. Often, so much drops that you can’t shoot it all.

Using the artifact has become easier with Lightfall: Unlike in the last DLC, artifact mods have now become unlockable perks. They no longer need to be clicked into your armor but are activated for the duration of the season once you activate them through the artifact. After that, they passively function in your equipment.

It is sufficient to simply click this practical mod through the Season 20 artifact and let it do its work. Not just in Gambit but everywhere.

You should note this: It is important to play a Void weapon. Without that, the mod won’t work. Here we recommend various options:

  • The lightweight Void grenade launcher “Ear-piercing Whisper”
  • The Void submachine gun “Funnelweb”
  • The Void shotgun “The Comedian”
  • You can also play with Void in the power weapon slot, for example with “Retrofit Escapade”.

Of course, you can also play any other Void weapon. What’s important is that the weapon’s element is Void and that you can quickly take down powerful enemies with yellow health bars.

Only valid for Season 20: Unfortunately, this mod will probably not bring you joy for long. In the next season, Destiny 2 might introduce new mods, so this practical advantage may not be permanent. So use it while you can.

Have you already heated things up against the ancient one with heavy ammo or just learned how practical this mod can be? What tips do you have for other players in Gambit? Feel free to share them with us in the comments.

An angel has killed 90% of the people in Diablo 3, thrilling fans for Diablo 4

Finally, the long-awaited Diablo 4 will be released in June. Fans of the series are already engaging with the mechanics and the story of the game. A particularly dark detail is currently sparking a discussion about the style of Diablo 4.

This is the story of Diablo 4:

  • In Diablo 4, the famous demon Lilith returns, the daughter of Mephisto, the Lord of Hatred.
  • Lilith is essentially the mother of the world of Diablo, as she created the world Sanctuary and the Nephalem together with the angel Inarius.
  • After the events of Diablo 3, however, there is a significant power vacuum and an enormous number of people have died. Accordingly, the danger posed by demons is now significantly greater.

Here we have summarized the story leading up to Diablo 4 for you:

More on the topic
The story of Diablo explained briefly – What you need to know before Diablo 4 comes out
von Benedict Grothaus

How did so many people die? The expansion Reaper of Souls was the ending of Diablo 3. The former archangel Malthael misused a powerful artifact, the Black Soulstone, to wage war against Hell.

His reapers collected the souls of mortals. As Blizzard explained at BlizzConline 2021, “9 out of 10 people” died in the process. Malthael thus wiped out 90% of humanity.

This “detail” is the direct reason for everything that is now happening in Diablo 4. Fans are excited that the story of Diablo 3 is not just brutal in sound, but actually has consequences.

Diablo 4 utilizes the best features from its predecessors and continues the story. The two most important characters are shown here in the video:

“Malthael eclipses Thanos”

In a thread on reddit, a user explains that this part of the story is one of the things that “excites him the most”. Dozens of comments discuss it, agree, and look forward to what this development means for Diablo 4.

It has been known for years, that Diablo 4 is supposed to be darker than its predecessors. In relation to Diablo 3, fans now see the reason for it:

I’m interested in how the effects of Malthael’s actions fit into the world. The trailers show a truly devastated world and people in misery, which sets the tone for a “post-apocalyptic” Diablo game, grim and harsh like Diablo 1.

I’m also curious whether the Nephalem will make a return, as they are seen at the end of Reaper of Souls gaining their full power. The ambiguity behind Tyrael’s speech suggests they might become evil.

El_Rocky_Raccoon on reddit

Diablo 4 itself seems to play with exactly such expectations, as there are contents like the shrines for Lilith in the world. Those who interact with them receive permanent buffs for all characters.

Previously, Blizzard stirred a bit of rivalry and had players split into “Team Inarius” and “Team Lilith.” Whether you will actually be able to decide whether to follow the angel or the demon remains to be seen.

Diablo 4 will be released on June 6 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. An open beta will take place from March 24 to 26, with pre-orderers also having access on the weekend of March 17 to 19. If you want to test your knowledge of the story, we have prepared a quiz for you:

Realistic space RTS on Steam makes you the captain of an entire fleet, is 93% positive

In the strategy game “NEBULOUS: Fleet Command” on Steam, you create your own fleet and command it in space battles. The game has a high rating with 93% positive reviews and is currently on sale for €15.

In NEBULOUS: Fleet Command, you are the commander of a fleet of spaceships. The game places a strong focus on tactics and realistic combat simulations.

Space fans can unleash their creativity in designing their vessels and assemble their perfect fleet from numerous weapons and ship types. The game is currently in Early Access but already performs very well on Steam.

The game is playable on the Steam Deck but requires some extra effort for interaction or configuration.

Here you can see a trailer for NEBULOUS: Fleet Command:

NEBULOUS: Fleet Command – The Protectorate Update Release Trailer

Deep space battles with numerous strategies

What does the gameplay in NEBULOUS: Fleet Command look like? Before a battle, the initial focus is on proper preparation and planning of your ships in the fleet editor: Take care of the modules and weapons that your vessels should be equipped with. Decide where the strengths and weaknesses of your unit should lie: Do you prefer to place more value on agility or firepower?

During a battle, you must be prepared for attacks from all sides and should always keep a suitable retreat strategy in mind. Depending on where the opponent hits you, important systems could be damaged. Your crew tries their best to restore the damaged areas, but you must decide where it is most urgent.

To claim victory for yourself, NEBULOUS: Fleet Command requires much strategy and intricate tactics. This goes down to the minutest micromanagement of the battle, and you must make the right decisions for individual spaceships.

Also, use the environment of the battle to your advantage. Hide your ships in gas clouds or behind asteroids to outsmart the enemy sensors. Mark your targets with illuminators and fire control radar in return. However, this only works if you are not blinded by enemy jammers.

You can play the strategy game both as a single player and in PvP mode against others, making the universe unsafe with your fleet.

How do players rate NEBULOUS: Fleet Command? Out of a total of 1,620 ratings, 93% are positive, giving the game a very good rating (as of: March 7, 2023, via Steam).

The deep, realistic gameplay system and the extensive options available for equipping the spaceships are particularly praised. The game is often compared to Nexus – The Jupiter Incident and Homeworld.

  • Jerichron:  “A detailed combat and ship customization system with a very satisfying combat environment. Although the game is still in early development, my friends and I had a lot of fun playing and look forward to how the development will continue on the already solid foundation the game has.”
  • A blind fox: “Great strategy game. If you are looking for a modern version of NEXUS, this is the right one for you.”
  • Malakie: “If you like space games and fleet battles, this is the game you must buy. While the graphics, in my personal opinion, could use a bit of modernization, I would love to see the eye candy with today’s technology like ray tracing and intricately designed ships, the graphics do not really detract from the gameplay experience itself. Well done, it keeps getting better, a must for space gamers.”

How much does NEBULOUS: Fleet Command cost? Currently, you can get the game on sale on Steam. Instead of €19.99, you now pay a reduced price of €14.99 with a 25% discount. The sale ends on March 13, 2023.

Also, the bundles are currently discounted by 20% and 25%. The bundle “Hooded Horse Sci-fi Strategy” together with the game Terra Invicta costs €47.83. The Hooded Horse publisher bundle is currently available for €104.75 and contains 5 items.

Twitch streamer hid her serious illness from her fiancé so that he could focus on Valorant

Kyedae Shymko (21) is considered the “Queen of Twitch” and recently announced that she has been diagnosed with leukemia, revealing why she initially kept the diagnosis a secret even from her fiancé.

What illness is it about? The 21-year-old performs on Twitch under her first name and is the most-watched streamer for Riot’s tactical shooter, Valorant (via sullygnome). On March 3, Kyedae announced on Twitter that she had been diagnosed with leukemia.

There was a lot of sympathy from her fans, as well as from the streaming and Valorant communities as a whole. The streamer received numerous well wishes for recovery from content creators, e-sports players, and viewers.

In a stream, the 21-year-old talked about her diagnosis and explained why she initially did not tell anyone about the illness.

The Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) is a particularly aggressive form of blood cancer. Even with intensive treatment, the chances of survival are only 40-50%. In the first 5 years following successful treatment, the risk of relapse is also high (via MSD Manual).

Partner should only learn about the illness after the championship

Why did she keep the diagnosis a secret? In her first stream after announcing the diagnosis, Kyedae spoke about how she found out about her illness. She initially did not tell her parents or even her fiancé.

Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, with whom Kyedae has been together since high school, is a former CS:GO pro and has been playing Valorant for the California team Sentinels since 2021. The largest tournament for the Riot shooter took place with VCT Lock//In.

From February 13 to March 4, 32 of the world’s best teams competed in the Brazilian city of São Paulo, including Sentinels with TenZ. The 21-year-old apparently wanted her partner not to be distracted by worries about her:

I wanted to make sure that he could fully concentrate on his game and work before I delivered the message to him.

However, the 1st place and thus $100,000 prize money were ultimately taken by Fnatic. We have embedded the clip where Kyedae addresses the topic:

https://youtu.be/Qq8mZm849PI

“When I’m sad, cancer doesn’t go away either”

How is Kyedae dealing with her diagnosis? The 21-year-old is facing the diagnosis positively and even jokes: She will soon start chemotherapy, so she hopes not to die. Even when she learned about her illness, she initially laughed.

I apologize if I trigger or embarrass any of you, but everything I did during this time was laugh. Because let’s be honest: If I’m sad and then say ‘Oh, I have cancer’, it won’t just disappear.

Nevertheless, the streamer also talks about the serious sides of the cancer diagnosis: She already feels the side effects of the treatment after just a few days. Later, she will probably also lose her hair.

Kyedae wants to continue streaming and asks her viewers not to see or treat her differently: “Just treat me like a normal person.” Nevertheless, her streaming schedule will likely become more irregular as the treatment progresses.

LoL changes its popular fun map – Does not go down well, has to take everything back

For the relaxed mode ARAM in League of Legends, Riot Games made changes at the beginning of the year. Players didn’t react well to these changes, and some complained. In the upcoming adjustments, Riot Games will revert back.

What changes have there been? The ARAM mode has a completely different meta than the Summoner’s Rift. This changes regularly with new items and minor adjustments. However, at the beginning of the year, Riot Games came up with a few major innovations for the fun mode:

  • The first tower of each team falls either to the right or the left, thus blocking a path.
  • The vision of both teams is restricted in the area behind the remains of the tower.

Riot Games will revert these changes in the upcoming patches and completely remove the tower debris from the game.

Here you can get a first glimpse of the next champion:

Riot responds to feedback: After Riot Games began addressing player feedback more at the beginning of the year, this will now continue.

On Twitter, the LoL commentator “Azael” wrote a complaint directed at those who thought the tower remains were a good idea. In the post, it is seen that Anivia’s ability can block the entire map with the tower debris.

Riot Maxw3ll is the design lead for game modes in League of Legends. He responded to Azael’s tweet and announced that the changes regarding the tower debris were merely an experiment for the ARAM map. The changes are expected to be reverted in the next or subsequent patch.

Riot Maxw3ll confirms the changes on the ARAM map

What’s next? In the tweet, Maxw3ll further explains that the changes were meant to bring more diversity to the ARAM map. However, they failed to keep the mode relaxed for players.

So far, LoL players have used this mode as a “break” from ranked games, or as an additional source of Blue Essences. Through regular adjustments, the meta in ARAM also changes regularly, which can provide additional fun. Maxw3ll says it’s a “tough nut to crack” when they try to offer a good game mode for all champions.

On the ARAM map, players can try out new champions with whom they have not yet gained much experience. Players who have a favorite champion and randomly get them can also have their fun. Then they can show what they can achieve in close quarters.

What do you think about the changes on the ARAM map? Did you like the tower remains or do you have a different idea? Let us know in the comments.

LAN Survival Guide – How to survive any network party – Also the CAGGTUS

LAN parties are still very popular. But what should you consider at the big local network parties? Here you will find out.

What is a LAN party? LAN stands for “Local Area Network”. In contrast to the wireless “WLAN”, multiple PCs are connected via a LAN cable. Therefore, all devices must be in a manageable area, such as a garage or a hall.

Especially in the 90s and early 2000s, LAN parties were very popular, as there was no widespread fast internet. Players regularly transported their equipment in laundry baskets and moving boxes to gyms and garages to play together for days or exchange data.

However, doing this in the 90s was anything but easy, and connecting numerous PCs with the then common, arcane network protocols and T-shaped LAN cable adapters resembled a mystical summoning of cryptic machine spirits rather than understandable technology. But it was no use, people wanted to game together and somehow found a way. And when, after nights of gaming, one finally gathered their equipment and left the smelly hall, they were a true gamer hero.

5 tips for surviving any LAN

Today, there are powerful internet connections that allow almost every gamer to connect with like-minded individuals around the world without any issues. However, the charm of LAN parties is still strong, and such events continue to occur. The most prominent example in 2023 is the CAGGTUS in Leipzig, the largest LAN party in the country.

But what should you consider if you’re going to a LAN party for the first time or after a long absence? Here are a few useful tips and pieces of advice.

Here are all the details about the CAGGTUS gaming event (advertisement)

Make sure to drink enough and have the right snacks

At a LAN party, you will likely stay for several days, usually a weekend, and spend most of your time at the computer. Therefore, it’s important to stock up on the right foods and drinks.

Popular drinks at LAN parties include coffee, cola, energy drinks, and beer. However, keep in mind that coffee particularly dehydrates you more than it rehydrates, so you should drink enough water or spritzers to stay properly hydrated and thus maintain your performance.

Title image office with coffee cup
A little espresso often works wonders.

Also, don’t overdo it with energy drinks as they contain a lot of sugar, and if you drink too much beer, your attention will also wane. When it comes to food, make sure it’s easily accessible and won’t make a mess of your PC. Pizza, sandwiches, or trail mix are ideal snacks.

Also, plan to bring sufficient supplies to avoid being left without provisions late at night or on a Sunday when you can’t buy anything.

Watch your cables

When going to a LAN party, you should make sure that all your cables are there. Large hardware pieces like mice, keyboards, and monitors are rarely overlooked, but it’s easy to forget one of the power cables or misplace a special USB cable. Don’t forget to pack a LAN cable, or else the whole party won’t make much sense.

Better to take more cables than necessary.

So count all your cables thoroughly and take spares just in case, to ensure that nothing goes wrong. Nothing ruins the party fun more than having to drive home to get a forgotten piece or having to buy it again at high prices.

And speaking of cables: also pay attention to how you lay them out. Especially the obligatory LAN cable should be secured as best as possible, just in case a clumsy party participant trips over it and brings your PC to disaster. The remaining cables should also be laid out as neatly as possible and possibly secured and organized with duct tape or cable ties. This makes dismantling easier and increases clarity.

Behave yourselves!

At a LAN party, you are not alone. Unlike at home in your cozy gamer nook, there are numerous other gamers here, and at large LANs like the CAGGTUS, there may even be hundreds of participants. So you are in a public space and should behave accordingly.

Angry woman
Keep your anger in check, you’re not alone.

So if you keep getting shot in a shooter, resist the urge to loudly express your anger and frustration with wild curses and insults. People can hear you, and nothing is more annoying than someone constantly shouting around.

Other taboos involve other players’ computers. Don’t mess with their hardware without permission and ask if you’d like to take a closer look at a particularly nice piece. If the LAN party lasts several days, also pay attention to personal hygiene and plan to take a shower or similar when you take a break. Your fellow players will thank you.

Prepare your games

You’ve arrived at the LAN, have enough food with you, and all cables are carefully laid out. So it can get started, right? No, because you’ve forgotten to install the games planned for the party or to download the latest updates. If you’re lucky, the venue has a Wi-Fi network that you can use to catch up on installations.

Steam installation screenshot
Download everything at home that you might want to play.

If things go badly, the venue may not have internet access, and you might find yourself in a tricky situation. Even if you do have internet access and can download the game, there are sure to be plenty of other folks doing the same thing, causing the mighty internet bandwidth to dwindle to a sad trickle. So if you want to game in a timely manner, make sure you install and update all games before heading to the LAN.

Schedule downtime

No matter how fit and hardened you are, at some point your body will need a break. This can be delayed with energy drinks, coffee, and other methods, but eventually, it will be over. So that you don’t fall asleep from exhaustion in the middle of a match and annoy your fellow players, you should ensure that you have breaks in time.

Be like the clever cat and take a catnap now and then.

Ideally, you have some pillows, blankets, or a sleeping bag with you and take a round of power napping. Alternatively, you can also shower or take a short walk around the block. A quick wash and some cold water on your face often do wonders too. All of this refreshes and revives you.

Also recommended: Feel free to leave the LAN for a few hours to get something to eat or explore the city where the event is taking place. All of this helps to keep a cool head.

Pokémon GO Shiny Eevee Overview

Is the Spotlight Hour worth it today? This event is particularly important for collectors. If you are still missing Shinies or looking for strong evolutions of Eevee, this event today is a good chance for that. Additionally, you need the various Eevee evolutions for level 42 in Pokémon GO.

Many trainers are already looking forward to this Spotlight Hour and hope to receive new Shinies. But keep in mind that the Shiny chances are not increased during the Spotlight Hours. So you have to rely on pure luck.

In the coming weeks, many more contents will be available for you. We will show you the dates for the events in March 2023 for Pokémon GO in the overview.

MeinMMO Review of Destiny 2: Lightfall – Is it a Hunt for DLC or Justified Criticism?

Every player who logged into the new expansion of Destiny 2 “Lightfall” last Tuesday expected a lot. A modern city, super cool abilities, and above all a story that was supposed to surpass everything that had come before. It turned out differently. So let’s talk today about whether the Lightfall DLC deserves the criticism it has received or not.

The Destiny 2 editorial team at MeinMMO has been involved in Destiny 1 and 2 for many years. We have seen everything there is to see in this shooter, and we have gone through all the highs and lows with it.

For about a week now, Lightfall is considered one of the biggest disappointments for Bungie in a long time. The Lightfall expansion of Destiny 2 has an average rating of “Mostly Negative” on Steam. The Destiny 2 community on MeinMMO is criticizing and pointing out many issues with Lightfall. And this is despite the fact that everything actually started well, because the Steam launch was grand.

After a week, our two authors for Destiny 1 and 2, Christos and Britta, have now played the new expansion, made a detailed assessment of everything in the current Destiny universe, and summarized their opinions here for you.

Spoiler Alert: In our review, we also address topics of the story. If you haven’t played the Lightfall campaign yet, please do not read further after the video.

Expectations for the Lightfall Story Were Too High

Arbitrary story also disappoints MeinMMO: Destiny 2: Lightfall has, in our opinion, quickly killed the players’ too high expectations. The beginning of the campaign was still okay.

  • The arrival of Calus and the space battle were classically staged as an introduction.
  • The mission “No Time Left” and the fight with Calus were certainly challenging.
  • The tormentors are good, though we’ve seen too little of them so far.

Beyond that, however, the story progressed rather uninspired. Many missions in the campaign were not really gripping. For Britta, Bungie seemed to have put all the special wow moments into “The Witch Queen,” the predecessor DLC to “Lightfall.” And even for Christos, the narrative left big question marks in the story.

Lightfall should usher in the epic finale after 10 years in Destiny – now disappointing its most loyal fans
von Christos Tsogos

Britta: The campaign of “The Witch Queen” was so memorable and good that Bungie could hardly rekindle that feeling in me with the new DLC. I wasn’t immediately enthusiastic about fighting Calus. It was a bit demotivating since the nastiest villain, the Witness, swiftly pulled himself out of the noose. So the story on Neptune felt arbitrary to me.

Savathûn, on the other hand, was an opponent that had never been seen until her DLC, but whose name was very well known. For years, she had her fingers in nearly everything in Destiny and was particularly challenging mentally due to her cunning. While one thought they had the upper hand by revealing her secrets, she coldly outsmarted you. The Witness kind of did that too – after all, one couldn’t win – but it was much too obvious, and thus hardly surprising.

Lightfall also has small puzzles: Both in “Lightfall” and “The Witch Queen,” Bungie incorporated small puzzles into the campaign. However, in the Savathûn DLC, these secrets felt much more significant and generated discussions among players that lasted the entire DLC year.

A Vex Harpy puzzle with a light castle in Neomuna couldn’t really top that in 2023. Only after the campaign, when many were already disappointed, further secrets are revealed.

Aside from that, I enjoyed every minute in its partly pompous, partly dark throne world with Light-Darkness and the swamp.

Calus, however, felt like he hadn’t had wine for far too long in Lightfall. He wanted a piece of the universe’s great cake, even if he had to curry favor with the Witness. But how it ultimately played out for him, he was visibly dissatisfied in Lightfall.

At least, Calus held out quite long at the end of the Legendary campaign. But neither his mechanics nor he himself was a worthy final boss for the Lightfall campaign, and certainly not for an epic student. His end played out well, but also unremarkably and unspectacularly.

What do you think, Christos?

savathuns-schiff-destiny-2-witchqueen
The locations in The Witch Queen were simply more spectacular and epic than in Lightfall

Christos: When it comes to the story, it’s up for debate. I knew when Bungie announced “The Final Shape” that “Lightfall” would have a cliffhanger and that it would only be the first part of a larger narrative.

However, I didn’t know that Bungie would leave so many gaps in the story. “The Witch Queen” ended back then with Savathûn being defeated, DLC done, finished. Everyone was satisfied.

In Lightfall, however, the story seems confused and not fully told. Calus is dead, yes, but to dismiss the end of this monarch so quickly, after we had followed him in the background for years, felt simply wrong. It feels as though Bungie was just looking for a villain to defeat in a final showdown just to wrap up the DLC.

You mainly fight against the same bulky Cabal as before, with whom the Guardians have essentially been at war for almost 10 years.

For me, that sometimes feels like a nasty trick from Bungie to sell seasons better, since in these the further course of action will probably be revealed in the coming months:

  • What is the deal with the Veil?
  • Where is the Witness now?
  • How can the Guardians still prevent the second collapse.

That’s why I’m also disappointed with the story. Especially because many elements within the story seem poorly and carelessly executed.

Criticism of the New Location is Justified

destiny2-neomuna-lightfall
The bustling city of Neomuna shines everywhere, but its inhabitants are just digital pillars

The MeinMMO editorial team was able to explore Neomuna before the launch of Lightfall and assess the story mission “First Contact.” Even then, it became apparent what a quiet place Neomuna is.

Britta: When I got to see the city for the first time at Bungie, it was quite unusual. Neomuna is not a broken European Dead Zone where no one has lived for a long time. The futuristic metropolis has neon signs, gyms, and shopping streets. It was only logical that, sooner or later, one would ask as a Guardian: “Where is everyone?”

For me, Bungie’s explanation that all the residents of Neomuna are sleeping in their digital cloud-ark after the Cabal’s attack is fine. Although I can imagine that it might come across to players as a hasty solution in this context.

Christos: Yes, I’m not as fascinated by Neomuna either. But I definitely find it better than “The Witch Queen” personally.

It doesn’t overload my eyes with unnecessary details. I particularly like the futuristic design. Because of that, it didn’t bother me that the civilians sleep in their refrigerators. They would just be in the way, like the people in the Tower.

Characters Are a Matter of Taste

Nimbus’ carefree bro-like attitude does not sit well with all players

With the characters in Neomuna, especially the Cloudstriders, we don’t really have any major criticisms. Nimbus is the first non-binary character in Destiny’s history. However, the community criticized his self-satisfied attitude, and many did not appreciate his eccentric humor.

What do you say about Nimbus, Christos?

Christos: I was initially skeptical, but Nimbus has his own style. Cool, young, and above all with a touch of humor – I find that great. Bungie quickly convinced me with that. I wouldn’t want to miss that conversation in Final Shape.

Here, I also want to draw attention to the synchronization and animation of the speaking characters in cutscenes or in the game. When the Traveler was “cut open” and we had to travel to the Tower to meet Zavala and Ikora, I was simply horrified at how poorly they were animated. It was really creepy to see Ikora talk with a wide smile while humanity behind her was nearly extinguished.

Britta: Oh yes, synchronization – good that you mention it. Sometimes, I found Nimbus in the German version really sounded like Caiatl. But that’s just a side note.

In a campaign mission, Guardians can see the story of the Cloudstriders as a mural.

Otherwise, I found both Cloudstriders good. Both Rohan and Nimbus. Of course, Nimbus is not that tried and true, typical Destiny character. However, Nimbus is still a fascinating personality, especially because he defies the expectations of the players.

I would like to learn more about Cloudstriders. In particular, the mural inside the Veil building fascinated me. A life that lasts only 10 years – that is very little.

On the next page, we will tackle the new subclass “Strand” and reveal our conclusion on Lightfall.

Diablo 4: Blizzard wants to paint your face in a church in France if you play the open beta

In a live-action trailer, Blizzard shows how they collaborated with an artist to paint the Chapelle des Jesuites in Cambrai, France, with images from Diablo 4. This is all advertising for the upcoming open beta. If you play the beta, your face could even be immortalized in the pictures.

This is the trailer: On the occasion of the upcoming open beta of Diablo 4, there is a new trailer. In it, Blizzard shows a tour of a real church that has been painted with images from Diablo.

You can see illustrations of the 5 classes from Diablo 4 and some of the main characters of the game – such as the demoness Lilith. The art was created by Baroque artist Adam Miller, and in the trailer itself, Charles Dance, who is particularly known as Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones, speaks.

In a “behind the scenes”, the creators show that several canvases were painted and then hung in the cathedral. Together with the video, there is a new contest.

However, you must play the correct open beta of Diablo 4; the pre-order beta does not count:

  • The pre-order beta runs from March 17 to March 19
  • The open beta runs from March 24 to March 26

More information about the contest and registration is available on the official website.

If you play the open beta, you are also guaranteed to receive some rewards – depending on how far you get:

What’s included in the open beta? Level 25 is the maximum level in the open beta of Diablo 4. During the testing period, you can play the entire prologue and Act 1. Included in the beta are:

  • all 5 classes during the open beta
  • a world boss to fight
  • co-op gameplay for groups of up to 4 players
  • couch co-op – only one player needs to have access, also applies to the pre-order beta

Even though both betas only run for 3 days, you can play as long as you want. After level 25, you will simply stop gaining experience and leveling up. If you are not sure which class you want to play, we give you some help here:

I can hardly wait for the current version of Genshin Impact to end, even though it’s good

In Genshin Impact introduced a really cool character named Dehya in Update 3.5. However, MeinMMO editor Marie Friske actually just wishes that the version would finally come to an end.

Since March 1, 2023, Version 3.5 has been running in Genshin Impact, bringing players the highly anticipated flame-haired Dehya.

But even though I like the content of the new update, I have my reasons for longing for a quick end.

Dehya is one of the coolest characters in Genshin Impact, even though she has weaknesses

Dehya is a mercenary we get to know during the Sumeru Archon Quest. It quickly becomes clear that behind her tough exterior is a soft person with a huge heart.

Here you see Dehya in action:

Start video
Genshin Impact: Collected Miscellany – Dehya: “Passion of the Burning Sands”

Dehya often helps others at her own expense: Once she secretly sells her sword to support her employer’s project with an ‘anonymous donation’.

And yes, I am fully aware that her kit is not the best and players are quite disappointed with her abilities. However, since I choose my characters based on sympathy, the skill set is personally secondary for me.

Although I find Dehya really cool, I will not pull for her, nor will I for the other great characters of the version: Cyno, Kamisato Ayaka and Shenhe.

In Genshin Impact, characters are obtained by ‘pulling’ on specific banners in the gacha system. For event banners, like that of Dehya, you have a certain probability of obtaining the character using ‘Intertwined Fate’. These special banners are available for a limited time with changing characters.

To be honest, Version 3.5 cannot pass quickly enough for me. Not because I don’t like the current update with its banners – quite the opposite. But simply because I am so looking forward to the characters of the next version that they cannot come to the game quickly enough for me.

I want Baizhu – Now!

With the next version, two absolute fan favorites are likely to come as playable characters in Genshin Impact: We are talking about Baizhu and Kaveh.

I am particularly excited about the green-haired apothecary from Liuye. This goes so far that I have already created a savings plan for Baizhu based on leaks.

Why I am currently the greatest nerd under the sun in Genshin Impact
von Marie Friske

The mysterious man with the talking snake caught my attention from the first moment and has since been at the top of my must-have-at-any-cost list.

But it doesn’t stop with Baizhu alone. As a great extra, Kaveh will soon arrive with a fancy suitcase. He is an architect in Sumeru and also the roommate of Alhaitham. The two always end up bickering like an old married couple – I love it.

That I might be able to welcome Dehya in my team in the future is not that unlikely. Because it is already certain: After the current version, she will be added to the standard banner.

Until then, however, it is about being patient and counting the days until Baizhu finally makes his big appearance in Genshin Impact.

How does a shooter play out where you can destroy everything? Fantastic! You will soon be able to test it yourself on Steam

The Finals (Steam) will soon open for the first time with a closed beta for the public. MeinMMO editor Maik Schneider had the opportunity to test the beta build, showcasing matches, his first impressions, and why less is sometimes more.

What a strong preview event that was for The Finals! I give it a clear “wow”!

It all started normally: The developers explained in the presentation that their new shooter “could change the FPS genre.” I’ve heard that before. But I’ve never wanted people to be right as much as I do now.

The Finals is a new first-person shooter, free to play on Steam, launching a closed beta on March 7, where normal users will also be able to participate for the first time.

Behind the project is Embark Studios, a software studio with several former DICE developers who previously worked on Battlefield.

They combine the destruction power of Battlefield with the fluid movement and hero aspects of Apex Legends to create a new shooter that delivers goosebumps and excitement from the very first minute.

I will explain what makes The Finals special and share my first impressions. If you want to see a match right away, then start our video:

Start video
The Finals: Beta Gameplay – 2 complete Matches

In my team was colleague Philipp Elsner from GameStar (here for the preview report from GS).

Arena Maps, Class Gameplay, Destruction – Everything in 8 Minutes

How do the matches work? The Finals is played in teams of three. You have to unlock cash canisters and bring them to cashout boxes. The boxes must be defended until the cash is in your account. However, canisters and boxes can be taken over at any time by enemy teams.

A round in quick play lasts only 8 minutes and 4 teams participate in a match. Ranked matches run in tournament format – a total of 16 teams compete, and the matches are played seamlessly one after another. If you don’t have enough points, you get eliminated. Only the best advance to the final.

To complement each team, class gameplay is added. Classes define themselves through their own selection of weapons and gadgets – some equipment is available for multiple classes. Specializations are limited to their respective classes.

  • Light
    • Faster weapons and mobile gadgets like a grappling hook or dodge dash
  • Medium
    • Medium weight weapons like assault rifles and support gadgets – auto turret / healing beam
  • Heavy
    • The big device: MG, hammer, flamethrower – along with a shove attack that destroys walls

Each class has 3 specializations and unique gadgets that only that class can use. Therefore, coordination in team composition is advantageous.

The Finals aims to finance itself through cosmetic items and offers a Battle Pass as well as an in-game shop. Signs of a pay-to-win system were not detected during the preview event.

Destroy everything else!

What is special about The Finals? The game principle is quite simple and familiar to all of us. That’s exactly what makes The Finals so interesting because it is immediately clear to all of us:

  • Get the cash, defend the cash, destroy everything else!

The emphasis is unequivocally on “destroy everything else.” With a well-placed explosive, you can bring down entire buildings. The remnants of the explosions remain in the match and are the same for every player. This allows for completely new tactics and feels good and dynamic from minute one.

If an enemy team wants to fill their cashout box on floor three, a few explosions ensure that I can take over on floor one. The box tumbles through the new, sensibly placed holes in the floor and lands right in front of me.

The Finals doesn’t try to completely revolutionize the shooter genre in the process. The feature of map destruction has been well combined with fast movement, a capture-the-flag mode, and class gameplay. There’s no complicated extra twist.

For even more variety, smaller gameplay events start in each match. For a few minutes, for example, gravity is reduced or damage is increased.

Personal conclusion: I’m excited

Even the first trailer of The Finals caught our attention back in the editorial office. We then decided on a very flowery headline: New shooter on Steam shows a bombastic trailer – Anyone who doesn’t feel a pulse is dead.

I thought, “If the game is only half as intense as the trailer, then we have something here.” And indeed, The Finals manages to create a hectic experience that allows for unique tactics and a lot of fun.

My highlight was the shove attack of the heavy class. With the push of a button, all doors are forgotten, the right path is straightforward. And suddenly you stand on the other side of the house. A powerful attack, a great feeling, a little hype that rises.

I also really like that The Finals doesn’t want too much at once. You can tell that veteran developers are behind it, who didn’t want to create an indie hit that stands out with its crazy ideas. The people wanted to build a shooter that finally puts the destruction of the map in the foreground.

And if you ask me, they have really succeeded excellently. Less is sometimes more here.

If you want to test it yourself, sign up now for the closed beta on Steam (via Steam). However, there is no guarantee for participation. The beta runs from March 7 to 21.

Let me know your opinion on The Finals. How do you like the gameplay, do you have any questions about the title? Write in the comments.

Amazon Games secures Tomb Raider and 2 major MMORPGs – Discusses the future

After New World and Lost Ark, Amazon grabs the next big IP with Tomb Raider. Two more MMORPGs are also on the starting blocks at the company. The marketing manager of Amazon Game Studios has now revealed in an interview how it will proceed afterwards.

Where do the insights come from? The website Venturebeat had an interview with Sarah Anderson, who is the marketing manager of Amazon Games and spoke about the future of the gaming division there. Anderson has held the position for 3.5 years, but according to her own statements, she has been in the industry for around 30 years in total.

The interview is generally about Amazon Games, its previous successes, and the future of the studio. Much emphasis is placed on the economic aspects. However, there were also some exciting insights about new games and how ongoing games will continue.

What happens to the ongoing titles? Sarah Anderson hardly touches on Lost Ark in the interview. She merely talks about the successful launch of the MMORPG and promises that they will continue to work on it. Here, she mainly focuses on the localization work that they prioritize for Lost Ark.

Amazon sees Lost Ark as an investment in a long-term brand. She says similar things about the ongoing New World but becomes more specific here. Anderson is pleased that despite the rocky start, with many updates and support, New World has managed to catapult itself back into the top 10 on Steam.

She promises players that they will continue to work passionately on New World and invest further in the game. Here too, Anderson speaks of a long-term franchise for Amazon and assures: “We have big plans for the game.”

Start video
5 Tips if you want to start with New World in 2023

Transmedia in the Focus of Amazon Games – Is a movie about New World coming?

What is Transmedia? Anderson explains the term mainly with the opportunities that Amazon as a company has available. As an example, she mentions the plans that Amazon has with Crystal Dynamics and their brand “Tomb Raider”. Amazon is getting involved as a publisher and wants to bring not only new games but also a series about the video game heroine.

This form of marketing, for example, as a game and at the same time as a movie or series with Prime Video, is referred to here by Anderson as Transmedia.

Is a New World movie coming? Of course, there is no exact statement regarding this. But based on Anderson’s statements, it would actually be conceivable. She literally says: “You can implement great things with the power of Amazon. We have Prime Video and all these things that we can do with it. In addition, there are the tech services from AWS [Amazon Web Services] and Twitch as well as Prime Gaming. There are many means with which one can work here to connect players and build communities around the games.”

Blue Protocol, Throne and Liberty, Tomb Raider – and 5 more games

How will it continue in the future? In the near future, two major MMORPGs, Blue Protocol and Throne and Liberty, are on the horizon, which Amazon represents as a publisher in the West. AGS is also responsible for localization here and not for the programming of the game itself.

A similar deal exists with Tomb Raider from Crystal Dynamics. Additionally, Amazon has partnered with Disruptive Studios and Glowmade, who are also working on a game that Amazon will publish. However, there are no details yet.

However, Amazon also remains active. Anderson reveals that the studio in Montreal and San Diego are also working on an undisclosed project each. The AGS offices in Irvine and Orange County are also working on a new project.

In the long term, we can therefore look forward to at least 8 new games being developed or launching in the West under Amazon.

What is happening with Amazon itself? The marketing manager also reveals that Amazon Games wants to continue to grow. They want to leverage the current momentum to bring in more talent and further optimize the studio.

However, they want to slow down in terms of speed: “We will continue to grow. Not at the speed we have grown so far, but we still have projects to prepare. And we are doing our best to organize our teams around these projects.”

What do you think of Amazon’s plans? Feel free to let us know in the comments here at MeinMMO.

Bless Global is one of many MMORPGs in the Bless series. New games keep coming out, only to fail miserably. The community reacted with amusement to the release.

This time, the game made a big blunder right during one of its relaunches.

Developers attempt to bribe players, Steam reacts

In order to receive positive reviews on Steam, the developers attempted to bribe players. They wrote a message in Discord and announced a giveaway: Those who positively review the MMORPG on Steam and post a screenshot will enter the prize draw.

Prizes included BLEC, which stands for Bless Global Credit – the game’s cryptocurrency that can be exchanged for real money. NFTs and in-game items as prizes were also meant to encourage players to leave positive reviews.

In a tweet, someone publicly shared a screenshot of the Discord message:

Here’s how Steam reacted: Rewarding players for reviews is prohibited on Steam. Therefore, Steam removed Bless Global from the list when the incident became known. The MMORPG can no longer be found on Steam when searched for and is absent from any listing.

However, the game is not completely gone from Steam. Those who search for it on Google or have the direct link can still access the Steam page and launch Bless Global from there. All reviews, however, have been deleted.

Here you can see the trailer for Bless Global:

Play2Earn only in the mobile version

Those who play the MMORPG on mobile can earn cryptocurrencies and thus real money. However, this is not allowed on Steam. Prohibited are “applications that are based on blockchain technology, that facilitate or allow an exchange of cryptocurrencies or NFTs,” as stated in the developer guidelines.

Bless Global circumvents this guideline by advertising for cryptocurrencies but not directly offering them in the Steam version. Players who want to use the currency are redirected to the mobile version. There are Play2Earn mechanics there (via MMORPG).

What do you think of Bless Global’s bribery attempt? Have you played any of the Bless MMORPGs or are you actively involved? Do you think it’s right for the game to remain on Steam anyway? What do you think of cryptocurrencies in MMORPGs in general? Feel free to write it in the comments here on MeinMMO!

Pokémon GO: Players are talking about the best deal since 2018 – Is the Super Raid Box worth it?

In Pokémon GO there is currently a box in the shop that offers a lot of raid passes. Who is it worth it for?

What kind of box is this? Currently, there is a new “Super Raid Box” in Pokémon GO. This variant of the box costs 999 coins and includes:

  • 15 Premium Battle Passes
  • 1 Lure Module
  • 3 Silver Pineapples

If you compare this with the “normal” shop prices, it looks like this:

  • 1 Premium Battle Pass normally costs 100 coins. So you would get to 1500 coins.
  • 1 Lure Module also costs 100 coins.
  • Silver Pineapples are normally not available in the shop but are actually earned as a reward.

So you’re saving 600 coins – and in the Pokémon GO subreddit TheSilphRoad, a user placed the offer in the overall context of the last few years.

For whom is the offer worth it?

User Montressian pointed out in the Pokémon GO subreddit that the box is probably the best offer since 2018 if you look at raid passes and their coin price. This means every raid pass in the Super Raid Box costs an average of 67 coins.

Important: The user only considers boxes that have no purchase limit, meaning they can be bought multiple times. In this category, only two other boxes have achieved better prices so far, and both were available in April 2018 (via reddit).

Pokemon GO Super Raid Box
This is what the box looks like in the shop

Furthermore, in addition to the passes, you also receive the lure module and the three silver pineapples as a bonus.

For whom is the offer worth it? Basically, you get one Premium Battle Pass in the game every day by spinning gyms or PokéStops. So you’re not necessarily reliant on buying passes from the shop.

However, the offer is likely to be interesting for players who generally raid multiple times a day or week. It should also be considered that in March and April there are two dates with top raids with Regieleki and Regidrago that can only be completed on-site with raid passes.

At 999 coins, the box is not exactly cheap, but it is at least reachable: you can earn 1,000 coins within 20 days, during which you earn 50 coins each day for defending gyms without spending any additional money.

What trainers say: Even though the offer itself is received positively, trainers have some criticism regarding raid passes. They point out that there is now a more popular raid item – namely the remote raid pass.

Here, trainers still miss the weekly remote raid pass that used to exist (via reddit), or note regarding the box: “Unfortunately, things have changed since the last time we received such an offer, and the vast majority strongly prefer remote raiding,” a user notes (via reddit): “I’m glad to get it for myself but it’s not as big a deal as it used to be.”

In addition, earlier boxes may have brought a better coins-per-raid-pass price but had noticeably more premium items, such as lucky eggs or lure modules.

Whether the box is worth it for oneself should therefore be decided according to one’s own gaming behavior – and whether it is worth the effort for the coins.

Praise and criticism also came outside the shop in Pokémon GO: Over the weekend, the CATCH ART event with Nockchan, Rabauz, Kicklee, and Kapoera took place. This brought XP bonuses for strong throws – but also a pretty tough Pokémon.

WoW currently annoys its players – Brings cool outfits, messes them up with quirky bugs

Every month, new cosmetic items come to the World of Warcraft through the trading post. However, the latest from March 2023 has faced considerable backlash, even though the design is very well received. The problem: they are displayed incorrectly for many characters.

What kind of outfits are these?

  • The trading post is a new feature where you can earn “currencies” every month and earn cosmetic items like transmogs and mounts.
  • Among the rewards in March are a fancy pirate hat and a complete set in the style of a jester from the Darkmoon fair.
  • However, it is precisely these transmog items that are causing players to complain in droves.

Do you want to earn the outfits yourself? These are the easiest tasks to earn currencies.

These are the issues: Since shortly after the release of the new rewards, there have been threads on reddit reporting problems with the Darkmoon harlequin’s bells.

Apparently, the transmog set simply removes certain parts from your model when you wear the items. Many pictures show that the character’s head is missing. These are known as “clipping” errors.

However, a topic that has gained even more traction is the tricorne of the fearsome admiral. A user shows a picture of the otherwise fancy pirate hat on his gnome, where the pink hair is clearly visible through the fabric and the hat itself is stuck in the forehead:

Certain races suffer from transmogs

The errors have sparked a discussion. Just the post with the hat has amassed over 5,000 upvotes and 356 comments within a day. Most of them simply express annoyance or cynicism.

Remarks that one cannot hold a small indie company accountable for such things are often seen. The frustration is particularly high because many fans expect better quality control from a studio like Blizzard.

Some users, however, point out that such problems have existed for years. Particularly, gnomes seem to be affected by corresponding errors, and it is said: “Confirmed: not even Blizzard’s art team plays gnomes.”

bugs don’t always have to be annoying. You can see the 5 funniest bugs from WoW here:

Others report that not only gnomes are affected by these problems. Undead have also been struggling for ages with their bones showing through certain clothing items.

In further threads, players are somewhat more constructive and discuss how such errors could be fixed. They suggest setting up an “invisibility field” around hats to simply conceal hair.

So far, there hasn’t been a fix from Blizzard yet.

  • Angry Lupus: The game is great. Anyone who loves Hearthstone Battlegrounds will love this as well. Plus, the incredibly cute look and cool mechanics set the game apart from other auto-battlers. It’s really very addictive. I love that there’s no time limit in Arena mode and that the damage system allows for a bad start. The level-up mechanic is brilliant […].

How much does Super Auto Pets cost? You can play Super Auto Pets completely for free on Steam. However, there are in-game purchases in the game.

When is the release? Epic Games has scheduled the official release of Chapter 4 Season 2 for March 8, 2023. However, it is uncertain whether the developers will stick to this date, as in the past, release dates have often been postponed or moved forward. So it is quite possible that Epic Games might even push the release to March 9 or 10.

The exact time is still unknown, but we assume that the servers could go offline in the evening and come back online the next morning.

Will there be a live event? Leakers have often been able to dig up files for live events in the past. However, no signs of a live event were discovered in the last patch of Season 1. However, it could be that Epic Games is planning a launch event like in Chapter 2 Season 6. Various cutscenes and a mission will play out, which fans can control themselves.

What do you think of the futuristic setting of Season 2 Chapter 4? Are you excited to explore it or is it not for you? Let us know in the comments!

Steam: Coreborn wants to become the WoW of survival MMOs – We played it

Some time ago, the German studio Blankhans Coreborn (Steam) announced a new survival MMO. Over the weekend, the first alpha test took place. The MeinMMO editorial team checked out the game, and our survival expert Benedict Grothaus sees the potential.

What is Coreborn? Coreborn is based on the pen and paper rule set Ultracore. You play as one of the various tribes of a world being attacked by an extraterrestrial power. Your goal: survive and rebuild the world.

To achieve this, the game relies on classical survival and RPG elements like building, crafting, and action combat. Alone or with friends, you move through the world, build houses, villages, and fight enemies. The visuals are strongly in a comic style reminiscent of WildStar, WoW, or even Fortnite.

Behind the new survival MMO is the German studio Blankhans, where the story genius Hauke Gerdes works as creative director. Hauke is responsible for the game’s story.

You can see the story trailer here:

Coreborn: Nations of the Ultracore – The Story Trailer

What did we test? The first alpha test ran from March 2 to March 5. However, there were frequent disconnections and at least one reset, as far as I could observe.

The experience you are reading here is based on approximately the first 4 hours in the still very incomplete game and is meant to be just a first glimpse at what Coreborn could be.

Good for beginners, very easy for veterans

Over the weekend, we played Coreborn as a group of four: colleagues Dariusz Müller, Maik Schneider, his fiancée Alicia, and myself. The constellation came about because we had just completed Sons of the Forest the evening before and the dynamic fits well.

We are all experienced survival players and managed to get along well and quickly with Coreborn. In the test, the capital, Coreheim, was full of NPCs, but none offered any interactions.

Accordingly, we quickly went through a portal into the open world and started. The first steps are somewhat difficult because you desperately look for resin and plant fibers for your first axe and pickaxe.

However, this hurdle is overcome after about half an hour to an hour. In the four-player team, we soon swam in resources, possessed even rarer materials, and had our own home with a village center.

Coreborn is quite straightforward. Wood comes from trees, meat from most animals, crafting assistance is available at every station and through the help button F1. Those who know survival games can build a first, good camp in no time.

I cannot yet estimate how difficult it will eventually become. But even now I see that the start is extremely beginner-friendly. Coreborn will be optimal for beginners who have had nothing to do with survival games before.

Building reminiscent of ARK

To provide a first insight into the building system, I hand over to Maik:

As soon as the first cheap axe is crafted, it’s time to build, because you can craft the building hammer. Upon opening the building menu, it was immediately clear: the dinosaur survival ARK is the template here. The radial menu is exactly like ARK, and the buildable parts strongly resemble those from the dinosaur adventure.

However, Coreborn pursues a different approach with a village center. The centers protect my base, can be expanded, and therefore unlock new dangers and recipes.

When building a base, you have to be very careful that the parts fit together correctly. Otherwise, you end up with gaps between the walls, roofs, and floors. With some experience, though, this can be managed well.

The base provides better workshops when expanding the village centers, and at higher levels, a kind of tower defense aspect is added. Expanded villages are regularly attacked and must be defended.

In principle, this sounds similar to the invasions from Conan Exiles, where enemies try to tear down your base if you build too much. However, we could not see that in the test.

Blankhans is quite ambitious with Coreborn. In an interview, the developers revealed that they want to have the same influence on survival MMOs that WoW had on MMORPGs. Interested in that venture, I checked out the first alpha. MeinMMO editor-in-chief Leya Jankowski has already spoken with the creators. In the one-hour interview, Hauke and his colleagues introduce Coreborn:

A survival game that becomes as important as WoW for MMORPGs? German developers want to achieve that

Action combat like in Conan Exiles

Since Maik is our dedicated builder, I focused primarily on testing the combat system and gathering meat, leather, and more during the test period. So far, my only weapon was a sword.

Nonetheless, the system already comes with combos and dodges that I know from Conan Exiles. With a little practice, you quickly learn the movements of the opponents and can kill them without taking any damage yourself.

While this is convenient for farming, it may become boring over time. Given that Coreborn also wants to entice players with strong enemies and special loot, I assume that there will be at least boss fights.

At least in the time I had, the system was fun. I enjoyed beating horses for their hides or goats for their moss and feathers. Yes … do not ask, Coreborn is a bit wild when it comes to imagination.

MeinMMO video producer Anna Alberg has also taken a look at Coreborn:

I was curious about the idea of Coreborn from the start. It sounded like a mix of Albion Online and the progenitor of MMORPGs, Ultima Online. I have always wanted to play a survival MMO where many people come together and shape the world.

I was lucky to be part of the alpha test of Coreborn, and I was pleasantly surprised that I was personally welcomed by the creative director, who explained the game to me. Even though the game still has many construction sites, it felt very familiar. Especially the building system was very simple and easy to handle; it was really fun to build my first town and set up the first crafting stations.

Due to the lack of a tutorial, I had to figure many things out on my own. I wandered aimlessly for a while, looking for resin, which was needed to craft the first axe. The help tips stated that you get resin from felled trees. Well, how do I fell a tree without crafting an axe first? Unfortunately, I couldn’t do it with my fists.

Then the sword came into play – I found out that I can fell trees with it, even though it took a bit longer. Even more surprising was when the tree next to me landed, and I took such a hit that I was almost dead.

Another thing that wasn’t immediately obvious and bothered me a little: how do I get my sword out now? While in most games, you already have your tool in hand and can simply use it with a mouse click, here you first had to pull out the weapon with the “Tab” key. On the other hand, what was very positive were the people participating in the alpha. Questions were kindly answered in the chat, and everyone shared their experiences.

Unfinished, but with a strong foundation

The first test was just that: a test primarily aimed at showing how stable the servers are running. As far as I could see, it ran pretty well. Many fundamental mechanics like actual character creation, professions, and certain UI elements were still completely missing.

For instance, I starved several times because I had few hit points and no food display. A growling stomach announces hunger and immediately drains health. And without hotkeys, I couldn’t eat fast enough.

However, all of these things are not too important for the first impression. The basic systems like combat and building already convey that Blankhans knows what they are doing.

Here’s a bit of gameplay from the alpha of Coreborn:

Start video
Coreborn: Nations of the Ultracore – Official Gameplay of the Alpha

In the world, players were always visible somewhere, even during a relatively small test. It felt like a real survival MMO with housing and everything that comes with it.

I am curious to see how Coreborn will develop. The community has been actively providing feedback, and some of it has already been implemented in the test to improve the game. If the developers stay on top of it, Coreborn is indeed a contender for the title “King of Survival MMOs”:

Survival MMOs lack what WoW is for MMORPGs – Will Sons of the Forest be “the big thing”?
