Blizzard gives the first look at the next tier set in World of Warcraft. The opinion here is clear: It looks pretty good!
Even though Patch 10.1 Glut von Neltharion is certainly still months away, the developers already provide a good insight into what lies ahead. For PvE fans, the highlight of a new raid is, of course, the associated tier set that makes their class shine in a special light.
In light of the preview for Patch 10.1, Blizzard has already released some screenshots that allow a first look at the new tier sets that you can earn later in spring.
Here is a first look at the sets of Hunters (heroic), Monks, Demon Hunters, and Summoners:
Next are Druids, Warriors (heroic), and Shamans:
Following are Mages (Mythic), Rogues (Mythic), and Warlocks (Elite-PvP set):
And lastly, Death Knights, Priests, and Paladins:
Where can you get the sets? As usual, the primary place for acquiring the tier set is the new raid: Aberrus, the Shadow Crucible. There will be sets to earn in different colors across the four difficulty levels (LFR, Normal, Heroic, and Mythic). However, it currently seems that Blizzard continues to adhere to the catalyst system, which allows other endgame loot (like Mythic+ or PvP) to be converted into tier set pieces. This way, players with different content preferences can enjoy the coveted tier set bonuses.
If you’re interested in more about the future of WoWthis might also interest you:
What set bonuses are there? So far, nothing is known about the bonuses, which are likely still in development. However, once the PTR for Patch 10.1 is live, there might be a first look at the bonuses – we will of course report on that.
What do you think of the appearance of the tier sets? Which set do you like best and why is it the one from the Priest? Let us know in the comments.

In Diablo 4 Strongholds are an important mechanic designed to assist you on your journeys through Sanctuary. We will show you how they work and what else you should know about these fortresses of evil.
What are Strongholds? Diablo 4 will offer you Strongholds, known as “fortresses”. These Strongholds are a type of dungeon in the open world that have been taken over by the forces of evil. When you discover one of these fortresses, it is your task, either solo or in a group, to cleanse it and transform it from a battlefield into a social place for you and your teammates.
We will now take a closer look at Strongholds and show you how to find them and why they are worthwhile.
Start video
Diablo 4: The World of Sanctuary in the Video with Enemies and Huge Bosses
Strongholds are hidden and can be found
Where can you find Strongholds? Fortresses of evil will not be displayed on your map or in the form of quests. You need to awaken your spirit of exploration and explore the surrounding areas in Sanctuary. If you arrive near a Stronghold, it will be marked on your mini-map with a red skull.
How do Strongholds work? Once you have discovered one of these fortresses, you must cleanse it of evil.
You will kill smaller minions
Open passages
Search for good loot
In the end, you will reach a special boss that you must defeat. Once you have accomplished all this, this instance is considered successfully unlocked. As a reward, you will receive:
New items such as armor and weapons
Renown points (points that apply to the respective area)
XP
Gold
Essentially, these are areas that were hastily abandoned by people when the demons took over. When you cleanse them, the people will return and support you on your journeys.
Are Strongholds worth it? Absolutely, because every completed Stronghold automatically transforms into a social place. Here you can meet other players, NPCs, and merchants who want to repopulate this location.
Additionally, new dungeons will appear in your surroundings that you cannot discover without liberating the fortress.
Can I tackle every Stronghold right away? As eager as you are to explore, you cannot complete every Stronghold quickly. Each has its own difficulty level, and although the developers say you can try your luck, you will quickly realize that the demons will make quick work of you.
It is wise to first adjust to the required level and bring good equipment before facing a horde of powerful demons. If you are too weak, you can clean the Stronghold at a later time. And don’t worry, the fortresses are private to each player; no one can complete your Stronghold. You have to do that yourself.
What do you think of Strongholds? Do you find them cool and do you think the new system is exciting? Feel free to let us know your opinion in the comments!
In World of Warcraft you can invite your friends and be rewarded for it. Rewards include mounts, pets, and game time when your friends are active in Azeroth.
The program “Recruit a Friend”, or RAF for short, has been around for a while. Now Blizzard has updated the rewards.
Anyone who recruits new or returning players who haven’t had game time for at least 2 years will be rewarded.
Convince 4 friends a month to come to Azeroth
You can connect your account through the program with up to 10 players. However, you can only recruit 4 new friends every 30 days, not all 10 at once.
Every time one of your friends adds game time, your rewards progress. If 2 friends subscribe for a month, you immediately achieve the reward for 2 months. Once you’ve received everything, you can regularly expect new game time.
These rewards are available:
Pet: Unpredictable self-driving toolbox after 1 month
Cosmetic item: Shredder gloves after 2 months
Cosmetic item: Snazzy buddy after 3 months
30 days of game time after 4 months
Cosmetic item: S.C.A.N.N.E.R. Mk. 3 after 5 months
Mount: Rocket shredder 9001 after 6 months
You should note that the items are only available for the retail version and not in WoW Classic. The game time applies to both versions, of course.
How can I use the program? To invite your friends and connect with you, you must first log into WoW. Through the RAF interface, you then create an invitation link that you can send. The first one works 4 times, and then you can create the next one after 30 days.
As before, the RAF program brings benefits to your shared gameplay in WoW. For example, you can teleport to each other every 30 minutes.
Also interesting is the group synchronization. This allows you to align the quest status of all group members – so veterans can replay quests with their friends. Your level will also be adjusted with this feature.
In addition, there is a RAF window in the user interface. There you can see which rewards you will receive soon and activate the group synchronization. You will also see challenges in that window that you can complete together with your friends to earn more rewards.
What do you think about the revision of the RAF program and the new rewards? Feel free to write it to us in the comments here on MeinMMO!

In Pokémon GO you can recently encounter Gierspenst. But to evolve it, you need a lot of gold coins. A YouTuber has now explained how he collected enough in just one day. We at MeinMMO show you how you can do it too.
Which Pokémon is it about? In Pokémon GO, on February 27, 2023, the ghost Pokémon Gierspenst made its debut, at least for those who also play Pokémon Scarlet or Violet on the Nintendo Switch. The two main series games can now be connected with the mobile game and, similar to the Wonder Box, give you encounters with Gierspenst.
Last November, Gierspenst briefly appeared in its wandering form in Pokémon GO and gave a first glimpse into the Paldea region. It tracked the trainers and let them collect mysterious golden coins at golden PokéStops. Now they can finally be used.
They are needed to evolve Gierspenst into the steel and ghost Pokémon Monetigo. You have to collect diligently, as it takes a total of 999 gold coins for one evolution.
A YouTuber secured these in just one day. We have summarized how he did it and how you can do it too.
YouTuber secures over 1,000 gold coins in one day
Which YouTuber is it about? The Pokémon GO YouTuber Nicholas “Trainer Tips” Oyzon regularly reports on his channel about news in the game and gives other players tips on how to progress better in Pokémon GO. He also connected after the Pokémon release with the Nintendo Switch to secure Gierspenst.
In his video from March 6, 2023, he shows how he managed to collect enough gold coins in just one day to get Monetigo.

These preparations he made: As Trainer Tips explains in his video, he initially sent a postcard from Pokémon GO to the Nintendo Switch for 5 consecutive days to secure a golden lure module.
This currently lasts for 30 minutes after activation and rewards you with gold coins and more items when spinning the PokéStop. This way, you can receive between 5 and 25 Gierspenst coins, as the gold coins are called in the game, with each spin. After spinning a stop, it requires a cooldown of 5 minutes before you can activate the photo disk again.
How you can connect with the Switch itself and catch Gierspenst has been summarized in the following article:
Support from the community: To collect as many coins as possible, Trainer Tips called on other players who also have golden lure modules the day before via his Twitter account to meet. This way, they could set off the modules together in one location with as many PokéStops as possible.

Many trainers responded to this call, as shown in Trainer Tips’ video, as nearly all PokéStops in his area had golden lure modules set. His plan worked out. He and all other trainers were able to take advantage of the time to spin the photo disks as often as possible.
How many coins was Trainer Tips able to secure? According to the YouTuber, he secured about 1,200 gold coins through the action that day – more than enough to evolve a strong Gierspenst to Monetigo.
And that should obviously not be the last “golden lure module party,” as can be seen from his Twitter account. He is already advertising the next meeting there:

In the comments on YouTube and Twitter, trainers are celebrating the idea of the “golden lure module party,” as this type of event is called by Trainer Tips himself. Some want to follow the YouTuber’s lead in their local communities and organize similar meetings (via youtube.com):
Donna Hunt: “This is one of the greatest things ever done for the community.”
exfluffbucket: “I told the people in the city that they must definitely try this out. I hope people actually come and do it.”
Squid Da Beast: “This is a genius idea. If New York ever does this, it would be so fast to get a Monetigo.”
Jake Berry: “I suspect it would go into round 2 on the weekend? Since Regidrago was confirmed as a top raid boss this Saturday, it would be a good time to do it.”
Matthew Vargas: “We should all do this on the next Community Day. If it lasts the entire duration (as it usually does), a lot of people will finally be able to get their evolution.”
This is why a C-Day might be suitable: From the perspective of some players, the upcoming Community Day with Flegmon would be particularly suitable. This is partly because on such a day, more trainers usually show up at places with many stops, and also, the monthly C-Days usually offer extended effectiveness for lure modules.
Therefore, trainers hope that the golden lure module will last for 3 hours. Then one could collect even more coins. However, it remains to be seen whether this will actually be the case or whether Niantic will make an exception for this module as well, as with the daily adventure incense.
What do you think of the idea of meeting as a community for such a “golden lure module party”? Is this feasible in your region as well? And have you perhaps already participated in something like this? Or are you less interested in Gierspenst? Let us know here at MeinMMO in the comments.
Chainmonsters is a new MMORPG that you can play on PC and your mobile phone since March 7, 2023. The gameplay is reminiscent of Pokémon, and the graphics are inspired by Studio Ghibli.
The MMORPG is being developed by the indie studio B-Side Games, headquartered in Hamburg. On their website, they announce that Chainmonsters can now be downloaded.
The game is available for mobile devices in the app store, while for PC you still need to download it directly from the website. It will also be available on Epic Games later.
Versions for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch are also expected to be released. However, there is no date for that yet.
You catch and tame creatures in an open world
What kind of game is it? Chainmonsters is a free MMORPG that lets you catch and tame monsters like in Pokémon or in the paid MMORPG TemTem. The graphics were inspired by the famous Studio Ghibli films.
You roam in an open-world anime style to catch 136 different creatures – the Chainmons. When you combine Chainmons of different elements, elemental reactions occur, which can be advantageous in battles. The battles are fought in 2vs2.
What other content does it offer?
A storyline that spans across 8 islands
Weekly challenges like dungeons
Housing
In tournaments, you can compete against other players

Chainmonsters uses NFT mechanics, hence no Steam
What some players might like less is the implementation of NFTs in the MMORPG.
Initially, Chainmonsters was supposed to be released on Steam, and the official banner still shows the Steam logo. However, Steam prohibits “applications that are based on blockchain technology and that issue or allow the exchange of cryptocurrencies or NFTs,” as stated in the developer guidelines.
For example, in housing, you have the option to design your own island, let Chainmons roam around, and invite friends. However, you can buy certain islands with real money and trade them as NFTs with other players.
There will also be specific skins for monsters and so-called Mint Tokens. Players can then trade these among themselves. Through the token, one of your Chainmons becomes an NFT.
Chainmonsters looks great for fans of Pokémon, Studio Ghibli, and MMORPGs in general. However, those who want to avoid NFT mechanics should steer clear of the MMORPG.
What do you think about Chainmonsters? Do you want to try it out or are you already playing? On which platform are you gaming? Or do you prefer the real Pokémon? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO!
Another new MMORPG recently made a misstep and got in trouble with Steam:
The anime MMORPG Blue Protocol is set to be released worldwide in 2023. Network tests are coming soon in Japan, but what about a global beta?
Due to a problem, the developers Bandai Namco could not conduct the Japanese network tests as planned in January, but postponed them to March 31.
Waiting for the closed beta
There will also be global tests: Currently, you can sign up for the closed beta on the Blue Protocol website. You log in with your Amazon account and will receive an email when it’s time.
However, the website does not provide more information on the topic. We only know that there will be a closed beta, for which you can currently register. As soon as there are news about it, we will update this post.
In the video, you can see the gameplay trailer of Blue Protocol:
You choose from 5 classes and create your character to dive into an engaging, fully voiced story. The MMORPG focuses entirely on PvE, with no PvP planned.
The developers promise an action-packed combat system, featuring dungeons and raids in the endgame that you will tackle together with your group.
Fans worry about the release
Blue Protocol is expected to be released in the second half of 2023, so relatively soon. When the tests in Japan were postponed, fans started discussing in a thread on the MMORPG’s subreddit.
Many worry about the release and think it might be delayed until 2024. “RIP, I can already see the NA/EU release in 2024,” writes a user in the comments, and others agree.
We will soon learn how things stand regarding the closed beta for us in the West. The developers are likely waiting to see how the Japanese tests go before planning the upcoming tests. We at MeinMMO will keep you updated on this.
Are you looking forward to the beta and the release of Blue Protocol? Feel free to let us know in the comments here on MeinMMO!
Recently, there was an uproar around Blue Protocol:
Dark and Darker achieved over 100,000 concurrent players on Steam during its playtests. However, the responsible studio Ironmace Co. has been fighting accusations since 2021 that the foundation of the game was stolen. Now, the South Korean police conducted a search at the studio.
With Dark and Darker, the studio Ironmace is developing a novel “extraction shooter” like Escape from Tarkov. Instead of focusing on firearms, the game uses swords, blades, and magic – it’s a hardcore dungeon crawler with PvEvP.
On Steam, Dark and Darker celebrated some successes and announced that over 2 million players have already jumped into the adventure (via twitter.com). So far, there have only been playtests. The next and final test before release already has a date.
However, the team has been dealing with plagiarism accusations for some time. It has gone so far that the police recently searched the studio premises. Is the popular project in danger?
A glimpse into the gameplay of Dark and Darker is given in the teaser:
Start video
Dark and Darker: Gameplay Teaser
What accusations are there against the developers? According to a report from a South Korean site (via n.news.naver.com), the plagiarism accusations originate from the publisher Nexon (among others, Maple Story).
According to this, the founder of the studio Ironmace was fired from Nexon for disciplinary reasons and founded the new studio just a few months later.
Nexon states that they presented the project “P3” in 2021 and Dark and Darker is pretty much what was developed under the internal name P3 at that time – a “medieval fantasy-style dungeon exploration game.” However, Nexon quickly shelved the project.
Nexon accuses the founder of Ironmace of stealing the idea and using code and assets in Dark and Darker that actually belong to Nexon.
According to the report, the proceedings have been ongoing since 2021 and recently led to the search of the Ironmace office in South Korea.
What do the responsible parties say about it? As PC Gamer reports, the developers have already addressed the issue on their Discord (via pcgamer.com). There, a responsible party wrote: “Nothing was found.” Another statement from Discord is available on Twitter:

Translation: “Don’t worry too much about what you hear from Nexon. Most of what you’ll see online is not correct. The development is not delayed because of this, and there is nothing to worry about.”
The people at Ironmace are downplaying the issue. However, the proceedings have been going on for a while, which does not necessarily indicate an easy resolution of the situation. Now, all that’s left is to wait and see how the problem develops.
The 26-year-old Imane Anys has been streaming on Twitch since 2013 and is the streamer with the most followers there. She knows the industry inside out and now reveals how some influencers deceive their fans.
What is behind the statements? In a video on TikTok, the 26-year-old explained that the life of an influencer is quite glorified, and she wants to provide a look behind the scenes. She revealed three secrets that her colleagues probably wouldn’t want their fans to know.
How credible is it? Pokimane has been active as an influencer for nearly 10 years and is well-connected. Although she streams less now, she is still the streamer with the most followers on Twitch. What she says certainly carries weight.
The tips and tricks of influencers are also somewhat of an open secret in other entertainment industries.
Some streamers use their acting talents for other purposes, such as voice acting:
Start video
Do you recognize these German Twitch streamers by their dubbing voices in video games?
This is what Pokimane says about influencer relationships: Relationships between famous personalities are often a big deal for fans: there are many speculations and disappointments. Especially in the film industry, there are frequently rumors that actors enter into fake relationships before a premiere to drum up publicity.
In fact, it’s said that similar things happen with romantic relationships among influencers: Pretend relationships occur much more often than fans would believe, according to Pokimane. This phenomenon is particularly prevalent among YouTubers.
While these fake relationships are not extremely common, they do exist.
That’s why you sometimes hear: “Oh, someone cheated on someone,” but it’s not cheating; they’re just not really together.
The clever tactic of OnlyFans models
This is how it works on the paid platform: On OnlyFans, the namesake “fans” have the opportunity to send private messages to the models of their choice for a fee and can also express special requests for photos or videos.
However, the particularly successful actresses often are not the ones at the other end of the line; they have agencies or assistants that take over the “annoying part” of the work, according to Pokimane.
The streamer explains that she does not want to contribute to the stigmatization of sex work; she simply considers it a very clever business move, as it gives them more time to do their actual job and produce content.
Something similar was reported by YouTuber Seltix in his OnlyFans experiment:
Why can brand clothes be dangerous? Influencers often pose in expensive brand clothes, creating the impression for fans of a well-stocked and sinfully expensive wardrobe. Those who are smart, according to Pokimane, do not buy the designer clothes themselves.
In addition to sponsorships, where clothes are provided to influencers for promotion, there is another way to appear more glamorous: chic designer pieces are simply rented before events or photo shoots, but they have to be returned afterwards.
Many of the clothes that influencers wear are loaned or rented if they are smart. But that is a big trap for people who want to be influencers. They think they need a bunch of Louis Vuitton or Gucci and this or that, and they spend a lot of money to buy it. But honestly, those who have already made it wear the stuff once and then return it.
The honesty of the streamer is well-received by viewers; they are already hoping for more videos on topics like sponsorships and brand deals (via TikTok).
Due to the constant online presence and the ability to directly contact through chats, it can quickly create the impression that streamers and influencers are closer to their fans than traditional celebrities from other areas of the entertainment industry.
Thus, it is all the more important to occasionally look behind the facade – and not everything there is always glamorous:
World of Warcraft says goodbye to the seasonal affix – and this has major implications for M+. We have all the details.
In recent weeks, there has been much criticism of “Mythic+” – one of the central endgame systems of World of Warcraft. Many players simply no longer want to deal with all the different effects they have to constantly evade. The seasonal affix “Thunderous” exacerbates the problem – especially when you already have to pay attention to boss abilities or other affixes.
Blizzard seems to have heard the criticism. The solution is: In Patch 10.1, that is, Season 2 of Dragonflight, there will be no seasonal affix.
Why is Blizzard doing this? The reason lies in the introduction of the seasonal affixes, back in Battle for Azeroth. At that time, the idea was to keep the dungeons fresh with a seasonal affix each season. After all, dungeons like “Freehold” had to be run not just for one season, but for the entire duration of the expansion.
With Dragonflight, this is different. Since each season brings a whole new pool of dungeons, there is no longer any reason to keep the dungeons “fresh” each season – because they were not present in the previous season anyway.
Instead of the “Level 10” affix, there will be no other. The scaling of the dungeons will continue to increase, but starting from Level 7, you will experience all affixes of the corresponding week.
Or in other words: In Season 2, you will always deal with “Tyrannical” and “Fortified” as well as one affix each at Levels 4 and 7. After that, only the scaling will change.
What is there instead? Instead of a seasonal affix, Blizzard wants to revise the affixes in the “Level 7” pool and add new ones. Although there are no details yet on what this revision will look like, there are already some hints. For example, Game Director Ion Hazzikostas said in an interview with MeinMMO that it does not feel good when certain specializations are consistently disadvantaged. Therefore, it is reasonable to assume that the affixes should affect all party members more evenly – or be equally avoidable.
More on World of Warcraft can be found here on MeinMMO:
This is how the community reacts: Although parts of the community are not completely satisfied with this announcement, as they had wished for a more comprehensive overhaul or even the abolition of the purely negative affixes, the mood is rather positive. It is seen as a good sign that Blizzard is responding so quickly to the wishes and is at least willing to try changes and see how “Mythic+” can be modernized further.
As soon as we have more information about the revisions and the PTR for Patch 10.1 is live, we will of course report on it.
This is an AI-powered translation. Some inaccuracies might exist.
In Pokémon GO, there is currently a Color Festival, where you are supposed to solve a Collector Challenge. We at MeinMMO will show you which 12 monsters you need for it and what you need to keep in mind when completing the research.
What task is it about? Currently, the Color Festival is taking place in Pokémon GO, where you can encounter a variety of monsters. In the “Today” view, a special Collector Challenge has been unlocked for me.
For this, you need to collect at least one of each displayed specimen during the event. Where you can find the individual monsters and what else you should pay attention to, we have summarized for you below.
Which Pokémon are being sought?
These are the monsters you must collect: To solve the challenge, you need to collect the following monsters during the event period:
Smogon
Skunkapuh
Woingenau
Natu
Pottrott
Paras
Krabby
Knirfish
Burmy (Plant cloak)
Burmy (Sand cloak)
Burmy (Tattered cloak)
Moterpel
All the sought-after monsters of the Collector Challenge
What reward is there? If you complete the Collector Challenge before the time runs out, you will receive 20,000 XP (experience points) and an Incense as well as a medal for the completed challenge. However, do not forget to redeem the rewards before the event ends, otherwise they will expire.
How long do you have? The Collector Challenge runs until the end of the Color Festival, which is until March 14, 2023, at 8:00 PM local time.
How to find the sought-after Pokémon
How to get the Pokémon? With the exception of Moterpel, the other sought-after monsters can be found in the wild during the event. By using Incense, you can attract additional specimens, which can help you in solving the challenge.
The new Pokémon Knirfish also defends the Level 1 raids during this time. The three different forms of Burmy are also hidden in the event field research under the task “Catch 8 different kinds of Pokémon”.
How to get Moterpel?
A special feature of this Collector Challenge is the Pokémon Moterpel. Unlike the other monsters, you cannot simply catch this one. To complete the task, you must evolve this Pokémon. You can recognize this in the research by the evolution symbol next to the monster’s graphic.
Since Moterpel is the evolution of Burmy, you must evolve one of them. This should not be a problem, as you need to catch this Pokémon anyway to solve the Collector Challenge. However, you need to pay attention to a few things when evolving.
What you need to keep in mind when evolving Burmy: To obtain a Moterpel, you must only evolve a male Burmy. Only these will produce the mentioned Pokémon. The cloak that the Burmy is wearing does not matter.
If you evolve a female specimen, you will receive a Burmadame, which is not sought after in the Collector Challenge and thus does not complete the research. So pay close attention to the gender of your Burmy before evolving.
How far along are you with the Collector Challenge for the Color Festival? Have you already been able to catch and evolve all Pokémon? And what task would you like to see in the next event? Let us know here at MeinMMO in the comments and exchange ideas with other trainers.
A user shows their gaming PC and it is heavily polluted after many years. You shouldn’t wait so long to clean it if you want to do a favor for your PC (and yourself).
A gamer had shown the inside of their gaming PC on reddit, which they haven’t opened even once in 6 years. The system looks accordingly terrible and causes surprised faces in the community.
However, you shouldn’t wait so long to open your gaming PC and should regularly take a look inside. Because regular maintenance or cleaning won’t harm your PC if you do it right.
Dirty can cause PC overheating and lead to other problems
Why should you clean your computer regularly? Dirt and dust clog the airways for air or your fans. This causes some components or parts to not dissipate heat properly and therefore overheat.
The processor and graphics card then throttle performance to deal with the heat or shut down in emergencies to protect components. Your PC will therefore always get slower.
Moreover, dirty fans are significantly louder because they have to spin much faster to sufficiently cool components like the CPU or graphics card.
If dust and dirt also accumulate moisture, then in the worst case, metal parts in your computer can start to rust. However, this is rather rare.
Can I prevent my PC from getting dirty? Dust can never be completely avoided. Particles enter the apartment while airing out, and furniture and clothing also lose small particles. Human skin sheds skin flakes and hair that also contribute to dust formation. Your fans, power supply, and graphics card draw air into the case and take dust along with it.
Especially if you have your gaming system placed in the living room or bedroom, there is particularly high dust formation. Pets or smoking also promote the pollution of your system.
With a good dust filter in the case, you can at least reduce the dust. Some modern PC cases already offer integrated dust filters. However, you should not forget to clean these regularly. Because even dirty dust filters can slow down air circulation or the fans can suck the dust from the filters.
If you want to clean your PC, then the computer should be turned off and disconnected from the power supply. You shouldn’t remove the dust from the inside with a vacuum cleaner or your fingers. The vacuum cleaner and also the natural grease of your skin can damage your hardware.
An effective method is to use compressed air spray or a set of small brushes with which you can gently clean the motherboard, graphics card, fans, and heatsinks. You can remove particularly stubborn dirt with a soft toothbrush.

We at MeinMMO had the opportunity to conduct an interview with the Game Director of World of Warcraft. We spoke in detail about Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion.
Blizzard has already introduced the Patch 10.1 Embers of Neltharion and we took the opportunity to directly interview the Game Director Ion Hazzikostas. He answered our author Benedict Grothaus’s questions and addressed all (or at least most) pressing questions regarding the next chapter of World of Warcraft.
In the interview, we discuss the new raid, the overhaul of the gear system, and also about Mythic+ and the criticisms of the affixes. Have fun!
The Zaralek Caverns – the new content of Patch 10.1
Benedict from MeinMMO: Fyrakk mentions that he wants to use Aberrus and the fires surrounding it – but the Djaradin live there. Does that mean he is allying with the Djaradin?
Ion Hazzikostas: That’s a good question. I think there are some interesting things that can be discovered there. The Djaradin are definitely an important presence in Zaralek and historically, the Djaradin and dragons have certainly not been friends. But that is something we will see from our cunning adversaries – that they sometimes set aside their ideology and form alliances to achieve their goals.
That is part of the story we want to unfold – so what the three incarnations, especially Fyrakk, are doing down there.
Down there also live the Niffen. What can we expect from their glory path?
As you might already notice from their appearance, the [Niffen] are not necessarily ridiculous, but rather an amusing extension of the inhabitants of Azeroth. This is a case where we had the idea to go underground and wondered what a mole-like people would look like. Our artists created some concept art and we quickly fell in love with them – and off we went.
They have a variety of activities in the world connected to glory – treasure hunts, general events spread across the area, and also repeatable quests, but ultimately fully integrated into the environment of Zaralek.
The Niffen are quite cute – and not quite as serious as other races.
Will there also be high-level gear? Or are the rewards rather cosmetic?
The approach we took to glory in the main part of the Dragonflight expansion … we want to continue it, of course updated for a new season and a new level of rewards.
We want glory paths not to feel like a chore for high-end players engaging in mythic raids or high Mythic+. However, we want there to be item progression for players who prefer to play in the open world – alongside cosmetic or useful rewards. Everyone wants new goals to work towards; in a glory path, crafting or high-level items could be part of that later in the path.
Will the other glory paths also be updated?
No, we do not plan to update the other glory paths. However, the rewards of some events and repeatable tasks in the original zones will be updated to remain relevant as the game progresses.
I think these glory paths have an abundance of cosmetic rewards and are important for crafting. We do not want to change them retroactively. When people enter the expansion later, it should not feel like they have to farm glory from the Tuskarr – it’s okay to move ahead and play the current content.
All raid difficulties opening simultaneously
Aberrus opens simultaneously on normal, heroic, and mythic, as did the Vault of the Incarnations. Are you satisfied with how that went? Is this now the new standard?
This is not necessarily the definitive standard for all raids in the future, but it is what we are doing this time as well. I think we want to vary a bit from how it was last time. We received a lot of reactions to it. For many guilds that are not quite at the forefront, it meant very little. It is definitely a better experience for people who also play Mythic+.
This oddity from the past, that first week of a season where a Mythic+7 or Mythic+8 was the highest reward obtainable – that was a weird state for the game. It’s not really intuitive for players. And when a dungeon-focused player asks: “Why is that?” Then the answer to that is: “Because of that other type of content, to keep it competitive” – that is not a truly satisfying answer.
Without question, there were a few issues balancing the Vault of the Incarnations and the first raid tier [of an expansion] on Mythic.
To be honest, our team doesn’t see it as a problem that there was not a full heroic week [for the raiders], but rather that one had to learn a lot from the player base regarding what was possible with the new talent system. Also, how much optimization was possible, with single-target focus or AoE focus, and so on.
Some of our numerical targets were simply wrong. Not necessarily for Mythic, but for the raid as a whole.
I do not expect it to be the same with Aberrus. We know very precisely what players can achieve on the live servers and what gear they will have. Yes, there are a few new trinkets and minor changes – but we can assess this much better this time.
We have also heard positive feedback from some heroic raid guilds, who were able to start on mythic in the first week. They defeated the raid, beat Raszageth after 4 or 5 days, and were then able to start the mythic raid during their last raid night before the reset, instead of having nothing to do for the rest of the week.
Giving players that freedom seems to be a better experience, than artificially stretching it.
We’ll see how it goes this time and what the community thinks – and we are also ready to continue developing it in the future.
Patch 10.0.7 is coming in a few days and is already gearing up the story:

New WoW Cinematic shows the power of the incarnations and quite dark figures
While we’re talking about balance, there are currently some items that are essential – such as the bow for hunters or the staff for callers. How will you handle that?
In our Patch 10.0.7, which is coming in two weeks, we are reworking how this bow works so that it no longer scales with the attack speed of pets and is only a buff for the hunter itself. The bow will become weaker, but we will generally strengthen Beast Mastery hunters so that those with the bow see minimal change and hunters without the bow receive a nice buff.
Having these particular rare items is something that should continue to exist.
Over the years, whether it was a rare weapon drop from Ragnaros 15 years ago or something else, there have always been these exciting moments when you get it. I believe a world where such things do not exist is not that interesting.
Of course, we want to ensure that it’s not so much an outlier that you feel useless without these items. Where this is the case – as with the bow – we will change that at the start of the next tier. No one should feel that they have to go back to farm the Vault of the Incarnations in order to keep up when starting a new class.
Does this also apply to callers?
We currently have no specific plans for them, but we’re keeping an eye on Season 2. The bow was a particularly large outlier.
Will Fyrakk be the last boss of Aberrus?
No. The last boss of Aberrus will be Sarkareth. A Dracthyr, the leader of the Shardflame. Neltharion’s laboratory and Zaralek and Aberrus itself are all intertwined with the legacy of all kinds of dragons. The incarnations are drawn to it to learn the aspects and the secrets of their fallen brother, and of course the Dracthyr, both Emberthal and Sarkareth, are here to learn about their origin. In a sense, this is where they were created.
Therefore, Sarkareth will be the final boss of the raid, but there are also many other bosses there – we will have a blog about that soon, and then it will be up on the PTR.
Fyrakk will not be the boss of Patch 10.1 – but Sarkareth.
So we’re not killing an ancient incarnation this time?
We are not killing an ancient incarnation now. We have to build a way to it. These are clearly major antagonists, but we’re not facing them in battle just yet.
Overhaul of Mythic+ – no new seasonal affix!
Mythic+ has received a lot of criticism in recent weeks. Are there plans to overhaul the entire affix system in Patch 10.1? Or would that be more something for the next expansion?
We have a few significant changes planned that we are currently looking at – planned for Season 2, i.e., the Embers of Neltharion. Here are a few things:
First: We will completely renew our dungeon pool … this will be the first time we have a season in an expansion with a brand new set of dungeons. We want to learn some lessons from season 1, particularly regarding the standard abilities.
As we look at the 4 Dragonflight dungeons that have not been in rotation, we are looking at the trash groups: How many abilities do they have? How much stuff on the ground do you need to dodge? How much is interruptible and how much is not? All these things.
We realize that many of the concerns are not just about the affixes, but also about the feeling that so much is happening at once that it becomes overwhelming.
We are also looking into camera issues and such, to ensure that the dungeons provide the best experience possible.
Separately, we are looking into whether seasonal affixes even make sense anymore and whether our focus might be better placed elsewhere, such as changing the other affixes more frequently.
The concept of a seasonal affix was introduced in Battle for Azeroth to address the issue of the stagnant dungeon pool. If we know that you’ll be running Freehold for the next 2 years, what can we do to make it feel different in month 8 than in month 14? And I believe the seasonal affixes have done a good job here. They changed how you approach the dungeon.
But now, with a brand new dungeon pool, the problem no longer exists. And seasonal affixes can bring more negativity than positivity.
As an example, we have the Vortex Pinnacle, which is returning in Season 2. If we have a seasonal affix, then players running higher keys would never experience this dungeon without that affix.
If the affix then makes it more frustrating for some specializations than for others, it pulls the entire season down for those specializations.
Instead, we want to introduce a few new affixes and update existing ones, especially the level 7 affixes. We will have that ready for testing soon. But we just want to have a few new affixes in the rotation that we can change regularly. No single one should be active 100% of the time, but if it goes well, we might aim for a model where every new season gets an update to the affix selection. A few affixes would then disappear temporarily and a few new ones would be added. That would be the level of change we want, instead of a seasonal affix that changes.
Are you also discussing “Tyrannical” and “Fortified” in this regard?
We are looking at them, but we currently have no plans to change them. We have adjusted them over the years, but the team feels there is value in having that simple “from week to week” change where you use combat frenzy or how the bosses scale, without adding much complexity compared to some other affixes.
A concept drawing of Aberrus.
“We need to be more active from the start”
Some of the dungeons in Season 1 and also already in Shadowlands were quite poorly balanced, especially the older dungeons. On one side the Shadowmoon Burial Grounds, on the other side the Jade Temple. What have you learned from the past seasons regarding this balancing?
We need to be more active from the start. With the launch of Dragonflight and the following holiday season … by the time we realized that Shadowmoon Burial Grounds was too easy, that the time limit was too forgiving compared to other dungeons … it just felt like it was already too far into the season [to change that]. Many had already completed high keys here, and had we retroactively made it harder, it would have been frustrating and unfair for players who had missed their chance.
But just as we actively work to make some of the “too hard” dungeons more accessible and to tone down special focuses, we also have to ensure not to miss the target at the other end. If there is an outlier dungeon that is so much easier than all the others, where people feel they can complete it at +2 or higher than the other dungeons, we need to intervene sooner. Otherwise, that is also disruptive.
If some keys feel “gifted,” then all others feel significantly less valuable. We want a very balanced mix of dungeons.
I really look forward to Freehold, Misty Depths, and Neltharion’s Lair – but why the hell are you bringing back the Vortex Pinnacle?
When looking at the dungeon pool, we consider the length, linearity, the layout of the dungeon, just a variety. We thought about Cataclysm because some of the original dragon and elemental themes come from there, and that felt like a good synergy [with Dragonflight].
It’s something the team agreed on as “a fun dungeon we should look at”.
Updating old dungeons, especially those that never had “Mythic+”, is an interesting experiment for everyone involved. Therefore, we are excited to see how it works when the dungeon is unlocked on the PTR and we get feedback to make further adjustments.
I believe this is the oldest dungeon we’ve reworked so far, and it’s important to get a feel for how that works and which other dungeons from that era we might still be able to use.
Back in Freehold – who is excited?
Old dungeons can come back – even the really, really old ones
In our last interview, you mentioned that it was unlikely for us to see dungeons older than Mists of Pandaria. Yet now we see a dungeon from Cataclysm. Is there a chance that we might see dungeons from The Burning Crusade?
Anything is possible. But the further we go back, also regarding the art and level of detail, as one must modernize the “look & feel” of the dungeon. Because… even if the gameplay is solid… if we ask players who come into the game in 2023 to spend a lot of time in an environment created 15 years ago that feels like it’s from a different era – that doesn’t present WoW in the best light.
But we are certainly open to doing that – definitely. We still have dozens of other dungeons to experiment with before we do that. But we know there are some fan favorites among the very old dungeons and we would welcome discussions about which dungeons from the old days fit best into the modern “Mythic+” – excluding the art and level of detail.
We are open to considering anything.
Cross-faction guilds are coming. Does that change how the Horde and Alliance can interact in the open world, such as questing together? Or is it focused more on social aspects?
It focuses on social aspects and is an expansion of the cross-faction system we already have and a response to player feedback. We are still trying to be cautious here and not completely eliminate the concept of Alliance and Horde and the narrative of the game world. But we want real-life friends and others to be able to unite and play together in a way that makes sense for them.
When cross-faction instances came out, we received a lot of feedback. Stories from people who had switched factions because they always wanted to play the other side, but then had no access to guild chat or other shared systems. This made it really impractical for them to play with that group.
We want to fix these issues but focus on people who already have some relationships [with the other faction].
Horde and Alliance together in a guild.
This of course affects the Hall of Fame. We will merge the Hall of Fame into a single one and keep the system otherwise. But in a world where faction no longer matters in which guild you can be, there is no need to still make a distinction here.
The story of the dragonflights in the rest of Dragonflight
There have been hints that the blue dragonflight plays a bigger role in the next update. What will its role be?
I always try to avoid story spoilers in these discussions. We intentionally keep some of our story moments encrypted during testing. We prefer that to be a surprise and a shared discovery when people experience the new content and play the patch.
One of the really fun things about Dragonflight was, in any case, taking the time to dive into the lore, the stories, and the legacies of each dragonflight and the great characters. So far, we’ve seen a lot of the red and black [flights]. Now we are focusing a bit on the blue. And then there’s the bronze – with perhaps something happening later.
This is probably also a spoiler question, but are there any plans to bring back Malygos as a character?
That’s a good question. We’ve already experienced a few echoes in the past, like with Sindragosa. They have the ability to create a sort of simulacrum of themselves – so they can be a source of information, but it’s also cool for players to interact with a version of the lore of the dragons.
This is certainly something we could see for Malygos – as well as for some other well-known dragons we still need to encounter or who may no longer be alive.
And for the bronze flight, is there a chance that we’ll get more story about Nozdormu and Murozond?
Hazzikostas: We are getting there. I think you’ll see some of the seeds we’ve already planted over the course of Embers of Neltharion. The focus here is on Neltharion and the Black Dragonflight – who will lead them? But in the background, all these stories are advancing.
Will our choice of whom we supported – Furorion or Sabellian – have any impact?
It has an impact in your heart! You know who you prefer.
No, seriously: we want to keep these decisions “light” in the sense that they are there for the personal narrative. We do not want you to receive a very special reward or miss out on another because you chose one or the other.
But it was definitely interesting to observe the community discussions about the two.
Furorion and Sabellian – many hoped the decision would have consequences.
The new content in the open world – is that intended for “Catch-Up” or is it better?
It’s a mix. It is meant to be catch-up and relevant, but I wouldn’t expect to get the best rewards from there. However, we also have new content taking place in the open world as Fyrakk rises and attacks various locations. That’s new content with new events, and it provides better rewards on the same level as all the other things from Season 2.
In the presentation, it was mentioned that there will be updates to existing systems, including the user interface. Can you reveal what’s coming?
We are continuing the evolution of the interface. I believe the updates to the user interface with the launch of Dragonflight were just the foundation that we can now build on. So we are looking at other frames and observing player feedback. Can we make more things accessible in edit mode? Can we improve the functions of the raid frames? We are looking at how group loot works and how it is displayed, to make it simple rather than entering /loot or using addons. Or also how special resources of certain classes and specializations need to be displayed better.
This is an ongoing project that the team will work on over several patches. In the meantime, it is especially driven by the community’s feedback. They tell us which areas most need improvement or which addons they’d prefer not to use [but would like integrated into WoW].
Item upgrades will be easier across the board
I think we are through with the questions. Is there anything else you want to focus on in the next patch?
Sure! I think one thing that will please players quite a bit: We are making some significant changes to our item upgrade system in Embers of Neltharion. We realized that we have many different systems that do similar things but slightly differently with different currencies. This can feel confusing. It can also feel strange that there are little nuances like: If you play Mythic+, it can be better to convert an item from this into a set item rather than getting the set piece directly from the raid.
We want to consolidate all PvE upgrade systems into a unified system. Valor is going away.
Instead, there will be a currency called “Flight Stones” which you get instead of Valor, but you also receive them from raids or from the open world. A mix of the Flight Stones and the “Shadowflame Crests” that indicate the tier you’re playing at – that is, for heroic raids up to this item level – will be used.
This universal currency system allows raid players and dungeon fans to upgrade their gear. You can get an item from the raid and upgrade it with dungeons, or vice versa, and this also applies to the open world.
We will soon release a detailed blog on this and believe that it is a clear “win” for players of all playstyles.
If you’re only doing dungeons and nothing else, not much is changing – it’s just a new name for the currency. But if you do anything else, it gives you the freedom and flexibility you didn’t have before.
Players often engage in various activities and we want the game to support that better.
One more question comes to mind: What about the professions? There are discussions that it might be a problem in the future if items exceed 418 – especially since you cannot redistribute knowledge points and catching up is difficult. How will that be countered?
We have plans to implement a new tier of reagents so that items can be raised to the level of Season 2. Players do not need to worry about going back to gather sparks or whatever – the new tier will make that directly possible.
We are still discussing things like “catch up” and how that should work – we want to ensure that players can still get into professions if they start a bit later. But we need to weigh that against players who have invested a lot of time and energy into professions to have an advantage.
I can’t provide details on that yet, but we’re keeping an eye on it.
Thank you for answering the questions!

Genna Bain is the widow of the YouTuber TotalBiscuit. She shared on Twitter that she is currently considering deleting all of her husband’s videos. This is because they are being used to train voice AIs that spread political views in his voice.
Who is this about? John Peter Bain, known as TotalBiscuit, was a YouTuber famous for his video series “WTF is …?” In it, he reviewed various games – from small indie games to large titles like League of Legends or Guild Wars 2. He was also the host of the Co-Optional Podcast, ran a well-known WoW radio station from 2005 to 2010, and was a shoutcaster for StarCraft 2.
On his channel, he published over 3,300 videos that were viewed more than 900 million times. He was also active on Twitch, where his face still adorns the “LUL” emote. He was seen as an advocate for honesty and transparency and did not shy away from confrontation.
On May 24, 2018, he passed away from cancer. His life’s work was honored by various games with Easter eggs, such as a gravestone with a top hat, and he was inducted as the only non-professional into the ESL Esports Hall of Fame.
What has happened now? It appears that TotalBiscuit’s YouTube content is being used to train voice AIs. Therefore, Genna Bain is considering deleting all videos and thus the legacy of her deceased husband from the internet. She writes:
Today was fun. To be faced with the choice of deleting all content from my deceased husband’s life from the internet. Apparently, people find it acceptable to use his library to train voice AIs that spread their social comments and political views.

Fans are upset but hope that the videos will remain
How are the fans reacting? Under the tweet, many fans are gathering, appalled that someone is using the YouTuber’s voice for such purposes. They find it disrespectful and offer their condolences to Genna Bain.
However, many also hope that she does not have to take the radical step of deleting the videos. TotalBiscuit has touched many people’s lives and helped them. One user speaks up who is also suffering from cancer:
His interview on the h3 podcast prompted me to react quickly to my symptoms of rectal cancer – and that’s why I was diagnosed early (stage 1) and responded very well to treatment. His online legacy thus still has positive effects. So, thanks TB/GB.
Other users also emphasize how much John Bain influenced the gaming world and themselves.
However, the imitated voices can also become a problem, especially when they are not used for fun gaming videos but for political purposes. Some fraudsters are also using them to execute the “grandchild trick”. In this case, the voice of the grandchild is simulated during a call, asking their grandmother for money.
It is therefore understandable that Genna Bain does not agree to her husband’s voice being used in this way.

In Destiny 2, a NPC from the old days is calling for the help of the Guardians. He is stuck in the Vex network and shows you the way to a secret Exotic quest from Season 20 called “NODE.OVRD.AVALON”. MeinMMO tells you where to find it and how it works.
What Exotic Quest has now been revealed? Just last week, attentive players discovered that the grumpiest character from Destiny 2 is actually not dead.
Several Morse codes found in the game revealed strange messages: “NOT ### ALIVE ### INSIDE ### THE ### NETWORK ### IDIOTIC ### KIDS!”.
Shortly afterward, visible clues were discovered. The former NPC vendor from IO, Asher Mir, was found in the new activity “Subzone: Restart”. There he apparently existed as a Vex version and waved to attract attention.
On Tuesday, the daily Weekly Reset Day in Destiny 2, strange symbols then appeared in the European Dead Zone. There six new Vex cubes were seen that revealed a number lock puzzle, and here too there was the designation “M1R”.
Before the mission appears on the map, you first need to solve the puzzle with the Vex cubes
The contacts are real, and Destiny 2 seems to have fulfilled the wish of some players, even those in MeinMMO in Season 20:
It would be nice if [Asher Mir] comes back. No matter if as a Guardian or as a Vex.
wrote the player CandyAndyDE in the comments on MeinMMO
This return is now a certainty: Asher Mir is indeed stuck in the Vex network, and he needs the help of the Guardians. In return, he offers you an Exotic called “Vexcalibur,” which Guardians can now earn in the new exotic mission “NODE.OVRD.AVALON.” But only if you prove yourselves as worthy assistants beforehand.
Who was Asher Mir and what happened to him?
Asher Mir may not have been a hero in Destiny 2, but he was certainly grumpy when dealing with Guardians. And that’s exactly why they found him so cool. However, when the dark Pyramid ships first arrived in the Destiny 2 solar system in Season 11, it was the end for Asher Mir.
Back then, much like now in Lightfall, there was little to counter the mysterious power, so the planets Mars, Mercury, IO, and Titan were evacuated before they were consumed by darkness.
Asher Mir, the NPC vendor from IO with the characteristic Vex arm, took refuge on IO in the Pyramidion and blew up the entrance. This prevented the darkness from claiming important Vex information for itself. Since then, Asher Mir was considered dead.
Players and fans of Asher Mir never gave up hope that the grumpy old man might have somehow made it. And that is despite him constantly insulting them, complaining during strikes, and repeatedly telling them how stupid they were because they didn’t understand Radiolara lakes.
Asher Mir is stuck in the Vex network
How to earn the Exotic “Vexcalibur” in Destiny 2
How to discover the secret quest: If you haven’t seen the Exotic mission on the map yet, you first need to discover the entrance. Fly to the European Dead Zone and land in the gorge. You will immediately notice the six Vex cubes.
The Vex cubes are a number code lock.
Drive past them with the Sparrow one by one and activate the lock. But beware – you only have 30 seconds from node to node.
Once that is done, the Vex network reveals to you a new “Simulated Cave” with access via the ETZ. If you can’t find the entrance, look to the sky. There you will now see a huge Vex whirl.
Directly below is the entrance to the Vex network and the mission “NODE.OVRD.AVALON” with the pleading Asher Mir.
A huge Vex whirl marks the entrance when you successfully crack the lock
Cool mission with Splicer Whispering feeling
This is what awaits you in the mission: Once you pass through the gate, you are already in the Vex network and crackling Radiolara. Now you need to explore the further path.
The Exotic mission is reminiscent of Season 19, where Guardians last played “Operation: Seraphs Shield” to obtain the Exotic “Revision Zero” – only this time it takes place not in space but deep within the Vex network.
Are you worthy to wield Vexcalibur?
Tip from the Destiny editorial team: We recommend trying the first run in “NODE.OVRD.AVALON” without guidance, as it is the most fun. Don’t worry, Asher Mir will appear as the friendly Vex Harpy or his digital form from time to time to guide you on the right path.
You shouldn’t have too many problems. If you get stuck, do like Asher Mir. Let yourself be assimilated by the Vex and contact the Guardians with grumpy insults. If you add a lucrative Exotic, they will definitely get you out right away.

Vexcalibur opens access gates in the Vex network: Here it is similar, as “Vexcalibur” can also be crafted.
Additionally, the weapon also functions as a key that will make many things easier for you in the Vex network. But only if you level up the futuristic glaive and complete the individual quest steps.
… that Vexcalibur can now connect with the restrictive access gates that you encountered in the Avalon node…
This message is transmitted by the weapon after completing the mission/quest
We have already played the activity and would describe it as a mix of the Splicer Season “Override Event” and “The Whisper”.
Just imagine you’re playing in the middle of your device’s hard drive.
Alongside, you’re still completing some rather nasty jumping sessions, like in “The Whisper”.
Furthermore, the engine of the network will try to erase you forever from the storage.
You have a lot ahead of you, which will need to be practiced and mastered, as you won’t just complete this mission once if you want to achieve everything. It apparently also opens the access gates.
Vexcalibur can connect with the access gates in the mission – so it is a key!
Once you have done that, you can retrieve the Exotic from the depths of the Vex network. A final visit to the H.E.L.M. also allows you to unlock the weapon pattern. Because Vexcalibur can be crafted and will provide you with several advantages that have different functions and will also be helpful in further runs through the Exotic mission.
By the way, you can directly extract the weapon pattern – it is immediately free and activatable.
If you are interested in more about Lightfall, this might also interest you:
Who can play the mission? This exotic Avalon quest is open to all players who own the Lightfall DLC with Season 20. The Lightfall campaign must also be fully completed.
The power level requirements were at 1,780 at the time of this article. However, the Legendary version of the mission will have a requirement of 1,815. To play on Legendary, you must complete the quest once on Normal. Only then can you directly select and change the difficulty level via the destination map.
Have you already discovered and completed the Exotic quest in Destiny 2? What did you think of it, and especially, what do you think of the weapon? Feel free to let us know in the comments.
Vexcalibur has apparently appeared at the right time. Because this upcoming weekend, the new raid “Root of Nightmares” is just around the corner. This weapon could be a good option in the team due to its shield:
V Rising impressed its buyers on Steam in early summer 2022. Up to 150,000 concurrent players were on the servers, and for a few weeks it was a big hit. However, the survival adventure in Early Access had issues with content. The first major DLC is supposed to fix this.
With V Rising, a survival adventure hit the market that brought fresh air with its setting and isometric camera perspective. It exploded on Steam, but did not last long. The release content was quickly exhausted, and updates fixed problems but did not bring new content.
With the DLC “Secrets of Gloomrot,” this will change in May 2023. There is no concrete date yet, but well over a year after the Steam release, V Rising will receive a large and free update.
Here you will find the complete list of the planned new contents and a deeper insight into the newly revised building system, which finally allows real vampire castles – and what kinds.

All info about the new vampire survival MMO ‘V Rising’ on Steam – in 2 minutes
What’s in Secrets of Gloomrot? The developers have been diligently releasing information about the DLC in recent weeks. In the latest blog, the team shows the complete list of contents and goes into more detail about the building system (via blog.stunlock.com).
First, here is the list of planned features. You will also always find a link to the English blog post that goes into more detail about the contents:
What’s happening with the building system? Builders will get their fill. The style of V Rising allowed for extraordinary constructions even at release. However, these were limited to one floor and thereby rather simple in structure.
With Secrets of Gloomrot, you can build new floors in your castle, among other things. There will be different stairs, railings for balconies, and also close-range teleporters that let you quickly move through your castles.
Here are a few images from the dev blog:
Additionally, torches and other light sources in the castle can be color-adjusted. If you found the building system of V Rising too simple, the new DLC should also appeal to you.
V Rising is an exciting survival adventure with its own charm – in gameplay and setting. On Steam, the game impressed 88% of its reviewers, and finally, content updates are getting underway.
The developers have already announced two more major updates, but without further information.
Final Fantasy XIV is a popular MMORPG and many fans would love to attend a fan festival, but few have the chance – scammers take advantage of this.
Which festival is it about? The MMORPG Final Fantasy 14 regularly hosts fan festivals that take place every few years in North America, Europe, and Japan. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the “Final Fantasy Fan Festival” event only took place once in 2021.
However, fans could not participate in the event that year in person, as it was held only digitally.
The last time the festival took place with in-person access for fans was in 2019. Fans have therefore been waiting for 4 years for the opportunity to participate in the event on-site again. This will finally be possible in 2023 and 2024, and accordingly, the tickets are in high demand.
The next fan festivals are in July 2023 in Las Vegas, in October 2023 in London, and in January 2024 in Tokyo. There is even a trailer for the events:

Scalpers sell links for $1,000
What are the scalpers doing? Scalpers are after money and the highest possible profit, and tickets for the “Final Fantasy Fan Festival” 2023 and 2024 are limited. Only selected FFXIV players receive a link from Square Enix from which they can purchase a ticket for $199.99 if they are interested (via na.finalfantasyxiv.com).
Whoever does not receive a link cannot buy a ticket and consequently cannot participate in the event. Furthermore, the name of the person to whom it was sold officially will be printed on the ticket.
However, some players, scalpers, have seemingly received such a link and do not want to attend the festival. They are selling their link, under which the tickets can be purchased, at a high price to interested fans of the MMORPG.
The Twitter user john_is_dead shared a screenshot from Ebay, showing a seller asking for $950 for their link. With the link, players could get two tickets to the fan festival taking place in Las Vegas.
So if an FFXIV fan goes for this Ebay sale, they are not getting a ticket. They are just buying the opportunity to subsequently acquire a ticket for nearly $200 for $950.

With the 2014 release of Final Fantasy XIV on Steam, the popular franchise took the step into the world of MMORPGs and has since built a loyal community.
In February, the game had an average of 23,446 players according to SteamCharts, and MeinMMO’s expert for MMORPGs, Alexander Leitsch, counts Final Fantasy XIV among the 10 best MMORPGs on Steam in March 2023.
Even in 2023, women on Twitch are still underrepresented and less successful than their male counterparts. Yet, even those who make it to the top often have to overcome numerous hurdles along the way. MyMMO author Lydia takes a closer look at this.
What is the situation? In December 2022, Twitch had 7.03 million active content creators. The most successful among them have millions of followers and reach an average of tens of thousands of viewers.
However, a look at Twitch’s top lists is repeatedly disillusioning, as it shows how much the streaming platform is still dominated by men.
However, there are many women on Twitch who are worth watching. One of them you can see in our interview:

Twitch streamer wants to change the perception of gaming as Miss Germany: “One should not demonize it, but also not glorify it”
Twitch in Numbers
What do the data look like? Currently, there isn’t a single woman in the top 3, the top 10, or even the top 50 most-watched channels worldwide (via sullygnome).
The most-watched female streamer at the moment is Abril “Ari Gameplays” Garza Alonso. She achieved a watch time of 533,886 hours in the last 7 days. For comparison: That’s roughly 1/7 of the hours watched of number 1, Raúl “Auronplay” Álvarez Genes, who streamed only one hour more.
Overall, there are only 4 women in the top 100: Besides Ari Gameplays, these are Vicky Palami, Amouranth, and Kyedae. At times, Amouranth or the German streamer HoneyPuu were also represented as the only women.
Ari Gameplays primarily streams Just Chatting, but also showcases Minecraft and GTA V.
Vicky Palami graces our title image and primarily plays Apex Legends.
Amouranth is known for hot tubs and ASMR, but she also plays Overwatch 2 and hosts events.
HoneyPuu plays Valorant and Minecraft as well as current games like Hogwarts Legacy and Sons of the Forest.
What is the situation in the German-speaking area? It’s actually a bit better, as HoneyPuu at least makes it to place 10, closely followed by Reved in 11th place.
Why is that? The question of why cannot be answered so broadly. However, it is notable that according to data from the site StreamScheme, 65% of Twitch users are male, while only 35% are female – other categories were not recorded (streamscheme.com).
It is quite possible that male viewers identify more with male streamers and female fans more with female streamers. But even then, there should at least be 35 women in the top 100, which is not the case.
Moreover, the audience of Amouranth is likely to be predominantly male.
So is it due to the content of the streams? It cannot be said that male streamers simply produce better content and therefore are more successful. A common accusation is that women do not show “real gaming” and are more likely to be active in other categories.
However, the chatting category “Just Chatting” is by far the most-watched category on Twitch. If only female streamers were active there, they should also be more represented in the leaderboards.
Instead, several of the biggest male streamers, such as KaiCenat, xQc, EliasN97, and MontanaBlack, are often found there (via sullygnome).
Nevertheless, the category might play a role: Many of the particularly popular games on Twitch, such as LoL, CS:GO, Fortnite, and FIFA, have a predominantly male player base. This results in many male streamers and viewers. Conversely, the predominantly male audience on Twitch ensures that these categories remain particularly popular.
Other areas, however, are dominated by women: especially in the Vtube scene, where content creators appear not with a webcam but with an animated avatar, female avatars are more frequently present and successful than male ones (via dexerto).
Even beyond Twitch, women often face difficulties in the gaming industry.

Streamers Have to Overcome Many Hurdles
What is the situation like for women? Difficult. Because women are not only underrepresented on Twitch. Once they manage to assert themselves in the “men’s club”, other hurdles often present themselves.
Because women who appear publicly often face a much higher pressure to conform to traditional beauty standards than their male counterparts: conventionally attractive, well-groomed, and preferably smiling.
If a woman appears without makeup, well-meaning comments can quickly arise, suggesting she might need a break, that she looks a bit ill – or worse: nasty comments such as ‘Who would be into her?’
What other problems are there? In addition, female streamers are essentially constantly sexualized. Looking at the most popular clips of male streamers, one sees particularly cool, funny, or even embarrassing moments. In contrast, female streamers often have rows of clips showing them getting up, leaning over, or perhaps showing a bit of cleavage.
Additionally, there is an endless loop of sexist comments: there are compliments disguised as insinuations, uncomfortable advances, and derogatory remarks.
It is especially difficult because, as a woman, you cannot actually win. If a female streamer shows skin, she immediately gets comments suggesting she obviously wants to be sexualized. Yet, when the 17-year-old streamer recently shared a picture in which she wore looser clothing, she was immediately accused of looking like a boy (via Twitter).
The YouTuber Gnu recently shared in a video where she discusses the topic: After realizing that many of her outfits and movements were sexualized, she began to wear looser clothing like hoodies. Yet, her face was edited onto naked bodies using editing software.
In her video, she goes further into how far the sexualization of female streamers goes:
Thus, it’s still a long way to go before women on Twitch are not only better represented but can also feel comfortable there without being constantly reduced to their appearance.
The topic is complex, and one could go on endlessly about the situation of women in the gaming industry in general and the developments of recent years. The observations presented here are just a small snapshot of what it means to be a woman on Twitch in 2023.
