What research is it about? In Pokémon GO, you receive field research every day by spinning photo disks. Their tasks and rewards change every month. Accordingly, these have been adjusted by Niantic at the start of April.
We have summarized what tasks are available this month, what rewards await you, and whether you have a chance at a shiny in the graphic below.

Throughout April, there will be plenty of events again. These are often thematically adjusted to the research, so that different monsters can temporarily hide behind these tasks. You can recognize such research by the note “Event” at the bottom frame of your quest.
How do you get field research? To secure the field research, you only need to spin the photo disks at PokéStops. At the same time, you cannot hold more than 4 of these tasks (including AR tasks) in the game. So if you have a free spot, you will receive a corresponding quest.
You can find this in the “Field” view, which you can access by clicking on the binoculars. You have unlimited time afterwards to solve it.

Everywhere is a new AAA game by Leslie Benzies, the mastermind behind GTA III, IV, and V. Essentially, it aims to be everything: MMO, shooter, racing game, horror game, and above all, a toolbox for new games that players can build themselves. For MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch, this sounds like a dream come true.
Everywhere will be a free-to-play title with a large, open, colorful sci-fi game world where you can roam around and experience various activities. These include PvE and PvP battles, racing in various vehicles, and finding treasures. For all activities, you will receive rewards in the form of XP and in-game currencies.
A core element will also be a large city that serves as a social meeting point where hundreds of players can roam around. In the entertainment area, you can watch movies and videos together. Virtual concerts like in Fortnite or the exhibition of artworks will also be possible in the “artist quarter”.
But that is just one aspect of the game. There are also supposed to be multiple games that you can enter within the game, including MindsEye, a single-player story shooter with horror elements. So even if you can’t make sense of the MMO world, you will still get your money’s worth.
Additionally, there will be a huge editor with which you can create your own games. While there are limits – everything takes place in a third-person view and a 3D world – within this environment, you should be able to let your creativity run loose. The games you create can then be tried out with friends and even complete strangers in instantiated areas.
The game is being developed by Build A Rocket Boy. This is the new studio of Leslie Benzies, who joined RockStar in 2001 and left the studio in 2016. According to IGN, he has been working with hundreds of developers on Everywhere for 5 years.

Everywhere fascinates me. Overall, it reminds me a lot of the concept of Roblox, but somehow more mature and larger. Even though there is currently very little concrete information and no real gameplay has been shown, dozens of cool scenarios have already formed in my head.
I enjoy playing various MMOs, constantly switching between New World, Guild Wars 2, Black Desert, and many other games. However, this has consequences:
I need a new avatar for each world, and often my desired name is already taken.
Each game controls a bit differently and has various settings. You constantly adjust to different controls, like which button to use to interact with NPCs.
My friends often only play one of my games.
I have to remember dozens of account details.
With a platform like Everywhere, this could change. I could play multiple games in one game and dive into these worlds and make progress with a single avatar. Suddenly, quick switches from my one group of friends, who are currently deep into an MMORPG, to my other group, which is playing a shooter together, would be possible.
And all of this would be consolidated into one account. As an MMORPG player, I love grinding, increasing numbers like levels and currencies. But success in one game brings me nothing in another. That would be a bit different here.
In addition, I could work on my own game with friends, like we did nearly 10 years ago in Minecraft. Back then, we built a small, rudimentary MMORPG that was incredibly fun. We also loved trying out various crazy custom maps in Garry’s Mod.
And when nothing works in video games, we also enjoy sitting together on Discord watching movies or videos on YouTube. This should be possible with Everywhere as well.
Essentially, Everywhere could replace numerous games and also Discord as a place for social exchange, as well as provide the opportunity to develop your own games and mods. That sounds really good.
It sounds like a place where I can escape from reality and deeply immerse myself. It’s no coincidence that there have already been several comparisons of Everywhere to the movie Ready Player One, even though the new game is not intended for VR but only for PC and consoles.
So far, I only know Everywhere through its own website and from previews by IGN and the colleagues from GameStar Plus. Much still seems vague. There is no statement yet on some matters, such as monetization.
Whether the game can meet my expectations even to some extent is currently completely unclear. But it is something new, something fresh, and not the 12th Asian MMORPG or another generic shooter.
For me, Everywhere sounds most like what I could accept as a “metaverse”. And we should get a first playable version as early as 2023. I am very excited about it!

Back in 2016, eSports was considered an upcoming trend, expected to be as big as poker. However, by 2023, the “eSports winter” has arrived. Currently, the crisis is hitting the game League of Legends. In the US league LCS, the next former champion seems to be on the brink after TSM. Reports suggest that “Counter Logic Gaming” (CLG) will cease operations and sell the team.

The German sandbox MMORPG Albion Online will already be 6 years old this summer. Recently, the number of players skyrocketed – This is how it came to the success.

A member of the “Dark and Darker” team has initiated a fundraising campaign, which was shortly thereafter terminated. However, the call for donations was not authorized. The reasons for the call are said to be the ongoing plagiarism allegations from a competitor and the associated legal costs.
What is Dark and Darker?
Dark and Darker is developed by the indie studio Ironmace and features a medieval fantasy setting.
Dark and Darker is a dungeon crawler with a PvP focus. You explore a dark castle for loot and fight in teams of three against other players.

A team member starts unauthorized fundraising campaign
What is the fundraising campaign about? A member of the “Dark and Darker” team shared a fundraising campaign via GoFundMe on the official Discord server of the game. GoFundMe is a crowdfunding platform where, for example, companies can raise money for their projects or startups.
As reported by the English magazine PC Gamer, the fundraising campaign raised nearly $46,000 in less than an hour. Then the GoFundMe page was closed again, and the Discord post from the team member was deleted.
On Twitter, there are still screenshots of the GoFundMe and the related Discord post, which has since been deleted. Speculations that one of the developers had been hacked were proven false.
As other members of the “Dark and Darker” team reported in a statement on the Discord server, the GoFundMe was legitimate, but it was not supposed to be started yet. A team member of Dark and Darker on Discord
Nexon is in a legal dispute with Ironmace, the studio behind Dark and Darker. The South Korean developer and publisher accuses the indie studio of copyright infringement (via Discord).
An Ironmace employee, who previously worked for Nexon, is said to have copied and stolen copyrighted information from Nexon and developed Dark and Darker based on that.
A truck driver wanted to smuggle goods worth nearly 4 million euros to China. However, he was caught. The method may be unremarkable, but so is what the police managed to seize.
The Chinese police have arrested a 61-year-old truck driver who wanted to bring 30 wooden crates with display units across the border. However, the police scanners found that the crates instead contained hardware worth 3.8 million euros.
With the found hardware, one could equip an entire small town.
Due to the large quantity, the truck driver could not use any trick to hide the hardware directly on his body. When the police opened the crates, they found over 500,000 electronic devices, including processors, storage drives, laptops, and numerous phones. The authorities had posted a picture showing all the seized hardware.
While the government authorities threaten smugglers with severe fines and prison sentences, this does not deter most from engaging in the apparently lucrative business of smuggling. According to PCGamer.com, such individuals face a ‘maximum penalty of 2 million dollars and a prison term of seven years,’ as stated by the customs authority in Hong Kong.
Colleagues from Techspot also report that smuggling has significantly increased in recent years. This is because hardware is much more expensive in China than in other countries. How exactly does combat work? In Blue Protocol, each class has access to:
Attacks with the left and right mouse buttons
4 abilities
2 pet abilities
That may sound like little, but there are many customization options for these abilities.
The attack with the left mouse button changes when you select a directional key. For example, if you attack with W + mouse button, the Twinblade class ignites enemies, while side-attacking (with A or D) + mouse button performs an AoE attack. This gives you a total of 3 types of auto-attacks.
Additionally, it is possible to use attacks and abilities from a jump. Although this has no additional effect, testers say it feels good. Sprinting and dodging are also important to avoid enemy attacks.
In addition to the main abilities, there are also two slots for pets that you can equip. You obtain these pets in-game through various tasks. They can heal, deal damage, or provide useful buffs.
In combat, you can decide whether to stay in an action view and aim with your attacks or whether to “lock on” to a target. This is done with the middle mouse button. Then all abilities fly directly to the enemy.
Those who forego the “lock on” may have advantages. As an archer, for instance, you deal more damage when hitting the enemy’s head.
Additionally, there are so-called attack chains. If you hit a target multiple times in a row, you increase your damage. After 50 hits, you deal 1% more damage, after another 100 hits 2%, and so on.

What do we know about group play? Blue Protocol places a strong emphasis on dungeons and raids that can be completed in small and large groups. You can either venture out with a fixed group or use a dungeon finder.
Guilds – called teams in Blue Protocol – have a limit on the number of members. However, this can be increased by leveling your guild.
There will initially be no PvP in Blue Protocol.
Criticism for high grind and boring side quests
What do testers criticize? A major criticism that keeps coming up is the grind. This applies to several content types. For instance, leveling the Adventure Ranks is said to be somewhat annoying.
The Adventure Rank is somewhat like your account level and runs parallel to class levels. You increase this through special tasks, which are said to be very generic. For example, you must defeat a certain number of enemies, gather herbs, and catch fish. All of this must be done because only with a higher Adventure Rank do new content such as quests and dungeons unlock.
However, some players are said to have already farmed for hours for upgrades because monsters rarely dropped the right materials. The drop and XP rates were increased specifically for this test, so some are concerned that the grind in the final version could be too extreme.
A third criticism is directed at the side quests. The tasks beyond the main story are said to be very generic. Kill X, collect Y, and run to Z – the typical MMORPG fare. Here, some hope that there will be more inspiration from Genshin Impact in the future, where the side quests also included one or two puzzles.
What do testers say about the story? Quite little. You yourself are somewhat of the Chosen One, who has lost their memory. Over time, you regain pieces of memory and fight against a powerful villain, the Dragon King. A relatively typical scenario for an Asian RPG.
Some also view the lack of voice acting for quests in the game as a critical point. However, some hope that this will be addressed further, as it was only a test.
However, many testers admit that they understand little or no Japanese and therefore couldn’t really follow the story. Many also focused on other things due to the short period of time.

What about the shop and Pay2Win? Blue Protocol will be Free2Play and has a Gacha system that mainly pertains to cosmetic content such as mounts, skins, and emotes. Additionally, there are orbs that provide advantages, such as when leveling the Adventure Rank. Some see this as a strong Pay2ProgressFaster.
Slightly more criticism is directed at the dungeon tickets. You receive 3 for free each day, but can buy more. While these tickets are not needed for entry, they are required for the big loot at the end. So, to grind faster, you need to buy these tickets for real money.
There is also a Battle Pass (both free and paid) as well as a Seasonal Shop, where offers regularly rotate, likely playing into the common “Fear of Missing Out,” or the fear of missing a good deal.
