The Elder Scrolls Online has finally installed new server hardware for Europe and PC. This aims to solve one of the biggest problems of the MMORPG: weak performance. The first impressions are positive, but that doesn’t say much yet.
What is new? On April 4th, there was a long server maintenance in Europe. Players could not log in from 2:00 AM until around 8:00 PM. The reason was the migration of ESO to new server hardware.

What is the first impression of the new servers? In the ESO forum, there are first statements about the performance from last night, and they are mostly positive:

What is happening with the player numbers? Destiny 2 recently faced a lot of harsh criticism for its latest expansion “Lightfall”. Players voiced their disappointment with the new content after the release on February 28.
However, despite this criticism, the player numbers of Destiny 2 remain stronger than ever.
In fact, compared to the release of the previous expansion, “The Witch Queen” in February 2022, the game has even seen an increase in player engagement. And this is despite still many problems in the game that need to be addressed.

Additionally, there were a lot of quality-of-life adjustments that drastically improved the overall state of the game compared to Shadowkeep, including new build crafting.
Bungie’s new beginning in 2023 is going well: Destiny 2 has had a rather rocky journey since its release in 2017. Overall, however, the numbers now show an interesting and great insight into the state of player engagement.
The game has always received mixed reviews from players initially, as many criticized the lack of content and repetitive gameplay back then. However, Bungie has consistently worked on addressing these issues and has released a series of updates and expansions that have continually added new content and features to the game.
They have continually refined and tightened the story content
Better content has been produced on a larger scale
The developer has also continuously strengthened its core functions
It is thus clear that the game continues to be developed and is not at a standstill. Even though there are currently still criticisms, such as the lack of attention to PvP or Gambit maps.
It will be interesting to see if the game can maintain its high level of engagement in the upcoming DLC year and continue to attract new players.

On March 26, the “Lost Legends Cup” of Twitch streamer Amar Al-Naimi took place. 100 German content creators competed in pairs in Fortnite for a prize pool of €20,000. Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler believed he had a surefire plan for victory, but it backfired.
What kind of event was it? On March 26, 2023, Amar’s “Lost Legends Cup”, the most-watched Fortnite streamer in Germany (via sullygnome), started. 100 content creators competed in pairs. A total prize money of €20,000 was at stake.

How did the tournament go for Trymacs? Apparently not as he had imagined. The difficulties began when his teammate Rumathra wasn’t fully present.
Because the cup took place precisely during the beta weekend of the highly anticipated Diablo 4, Rumathra would have probably preferred to try out the new classes of the Druid and Necromancer rather than being stuck in a Fortnite tournament with Trymacs.
During his free moments between rounds, the streamer used the time to play Diablo 4 – eventually, Trymacs had to lay down the law and issued him a Diablo ban.

What caused the situation to escalate? The situation escalated when Trymacs was about to get knocked out. He had 3 lifesaving medkits in his inventory but unfortunately had no idea how to use them. The streamer threw the kits to Rumathra, who was supposed to distribute them quickly.
To Trymacs’ misfortune, however, his teammate did not respond quickly enough: He claimed he was in perfect health and could not apply the kits. Why the streamer didn’t just use the kits himself isn’t clear, not even to Rumathra, who doesn’t understand what Trymacs wants from him.
However, that doesn’t stop Trymacs from getting upset with his partner. He explodes and tells his colleague he never wants to play with him again: “I invite Rumathra here as a pro and he can’t even split a medpack!”

What is gambling on Twitch all about? Gambling, along with “Hot Tub” streams, is one of the biggest controversies on Twitch. In 2022, the “Slots” category, under which especially virtual one-armed bandits were played, ranked 12th among the most-watched games on Twitch (via sullygnome).
Big gambling streamers are said to have earned excellent profits through deals with the controversial online casino Stake, while their viewers went bankrupt. Advocates saw it differently, including a viewer of HasanAbi. Months later, he returns remorsefully to the streamer’s chat.
MontanaBlack, one of the most successful German streamers, was also huge with gambling on Twitch for a time.

Viewer says: “You were right” and apologizes
What kind of viewer was that? A Twitch user named “Ryiize” appeared in HasanAbi’s chat as an advocate for gambling on the streaming platform. On July 7, 2021, he defended a gambling streamer and reported on his own winnings:
You’re idiots. […] You’re sitting here bashing a guy who took a deal. […] I’ve cashed out thousands [presumably dollars] and I’m a regular guy, you’re all idiots.
How did the viewer change his mind? In early March, the viewer returned to HasanAbi’s chat, but now appeared repentant: Gambling had destroyed his life, and he now wanted to apologize.
I realize you probably won’t read this, but some time ago I was here and said gambling on Twitch wasn’t bad. A year later it has destroyed my life and I have an addiction for which I need to seek professional help. Here is my apology to you. You were right.
How did the streamer react? HasanAbi refrained from schadenfreude and showed compassion for the viewer’s fate. He advocated that the viewer wants to seek professional help and gave him some comforting words:

The topic of gambling is also a controversial issue in German Twitch. The streamer “Real_Bazzi” said that he used to be addicted to gambling. He then built a career with role-playing in GTA 5, which, however, collapsed within a very short time when he started streaming gambling:
