As soon as Ghost Recon: Frontline was announced, the start of the beta has already been postponed. Ubisoft announced this after just about a week. MeinMMO summarizes the news for you.
What happened? After the announcement on October 5, Ghost Recon: Frontline has now officially been postponed. Originally, the spin-off to Ghost Recon: Breakpoint and Wildlands was supposed to start its first closed beta tomorrow, on October 14.
But in the afternoon, Ubisoft announced that they would have to postpone the planned beta phases.
What is the reason? Details on this are not known. Ubisoft states on Twitter that they wanted to provide “the best possible experience” and will share new details about the beta soon.
What could the postponement be about? It’s currently hard to say, as there is no exact explanation. It certainly seems strange that the shooter, which has reportedly been in development for three years, is already postponing the beta shortly after its official introduction.
It could possibly be a reaction to player feedback, as the game has not been received well. Technical problems that were identified shortly before the launch could also be a possibility. We will keep you updated on this.
Ghost Recon: Frontline was not well received by fans
What is Ghost Recon Frontline? It is a battle royale game set in the Ghost Recon universe of Tom Clancy. It is intended to be a free-to-play game and has reportedly been in development at Ubisoft Bucharest for three years.
Multiple teams, consisting of three players, compete for valuable information and are supposed to escape in the end.
To stand out from competitors like Warzone and Apex Legends, the developers have chosen some special features, but the first trailer has received dismal feedback from the target audience.
What are the community reactions? The reactions to the first reveal trailer for Frontline were terrible. The video has over 17,000 dislikes on YouTube with only about 4,900 likes (as of October 13, 2021). Numerous fans complain that they wanted a classic installment of the shooter series.
You can find further reactions to the announcement of the shooter compiled by us on MeinMMO.
What are the special features? Ghost Recon Frontline offers a game mode with 102 players who land on the map Drakemoor Island in a maximum of 34 teams of three players each. There they are supposed to retrieve valuable information and then escape.
- The hunt for information takes the place of the death zones usually found in BR games in Frontline.
- If a team has gathered enough information, extraction is initiated and a very loud and visible helicopter is ready to pick up a team.
- Then it’s a matter of showing up on time and not being ambushed by another team.
- This mechanic is somewhat reminiscent of the popular shooter Hunt: Showdown, where everything can also get very close at the end.
- There will also be three classes for your soldiers: a Scout, an Assault, and a Supporter.
- You can switch these classes at any time in the game. You should also be able to customize the classes freely.
What do you think about the postponement? Is this a reason for concern? Or are you not interested in the BR spin-off of the Ghost Recon series at all? Let us know your opinion.
