A refrigerator is in almost every apartment. And a mistake is also often made when it comes to filling the device. Because either there is too much or too little in it. Why that can cost money and especially food, you will read in this article.
A refrigerator is in just about every household to protect food or safely store leftovers from the previous day.
However, a mistake is regularly made: Either people pack their refrigerator to the brim or they have almost nothing in it. The best solution actually lies in between.
The refrigerator should neither be too empty nor too full
Basically, the rule is: The fuller the refrigerator, the better it cools and the less energy is consumed. Because the fuller it is, the less air is in the refrigerator. And exactly this escapes when the door is opened and has to be cooled again, which consumes energy (according to wien-energie.at)
However, one should also not pack the refrigerator completely full. While the refrigerator itself cools better then, another problem arises: The air cannot circulate between the items, which can cause food to spoil faster.
So, the right filling can save you both money and preserve food.
How full should the refrigerator be? Often the rule of thumb is mentioned that the device should be filled to three-quarters: Then the food stores the cold and cools each other, while there is enough space for air circulation.
And a tip that many also mention. If the refrigerator is empty, it is best to turn it off and not let it run, as an empty refrigerator simply needs a lot of energy to cool (via utopia.de).
Summer is finally here, and with it, the temperatures rise rapidly. Among other things, office rooms heat up quickly. Our tech author Jan Hartmayer knows the problem and regularly sits in a private sauna thanks to his computer: So that I don’t turn into a roast chicken while gaming, I invested €900 in an upgrade for my room
