League of Legends starts 2025 with a new concept. If you look at the current patch notes of LoL, you will immediately notice that the naming has changed. Instead of 15.1, the new patch is called 25.S1.1, which stands for Season 1 of 2025.
There will be 3 seasons in the year, each subordinated to a specific theme. The new season has the motto Welcome to Noxus
. Corresponding to this, there will be new skins, a new appearance for the map Summoner’s Rift
, and some changes and new mechanics in the game.

What does the new season offer? With patch 25.S.1, several changes will be introduced in the game that will alter the dynamics of LoL somewhat.
- The design of the map
Summoner’s Rift
has changed to fit the region of Noxus. - With Atakhan, there is a new jungle monster with new buffs that spawns directly at the river at the top or bot lane.
- Nexus towers can now respawn after 3 minutes if you have not ended the game by then.
- Acts of Strength are a new upgrade for your shoes, but your team only receives it if you achieve 2 out of 3 objectives as the first team (First Blood, First Tower, First 3 Epic Monsters).
- The value of champion bounties is meant to be more understandable.
- Towers do more damage, but damage reduction will be reduced.
- Some values of minions have been changed, especially in the later stages of the game (the first cannon minion comes in wave 4).
- Swift Play replaces the Quick Play mode
- Swift Play is supposed to be significantly faster than the normal mode, for example, you get the dragon soul after just 3 dragons and there is generally more gold.
- As with every season, there will be a ranked reset.
When does the new season start? Patches usually come out on Tuesdays. However, the first patch of 2025 will be released on Thursday, January 9, 2025.
Esports will also become more dynamic. With the new season, the Fearless Draft is coming to the game. Once a champion is picked, they cannot be played again in the best-of-5 or best-of-3.
