A conversation in ARC Raiders moved not only the affected Raiders but also the entire community when a Russian player encounters a gamer from Ukraine.
How did the players collide? In a clip by player elimsnis (on TikTok SinSmileTV), he shows the encounter with another player in the “Buried City” in ARC Raiders. The actual PvP player informs the other that he is not friendly and will shoot, but changes his mind when the other asks him to. He has to get back to work soon and finds correspondingly little time to play. This moves elimsnis to mercy, which is why he lets his now new friend loot in peace.
When asked by the other where he comes from, he replies: “I come from a very sad country.” The other can relate and reveals that he lives in Ukraine. That causes a brief pause before elimsnis admits: “I am from Russia.”
“I just want people to appreciate their lives.”
What did the two players talk about? After a brief, somewhat awkward pause in which both seem to digest the realization, they switch to Russian so they can converse more directly without switching to another language. In the clip, it is translated by elimsnis through subtitles.

The Russian player narrates that he fled to Spain and works there, and that he also has many friends in Ukraine. His Ukrainian teammate reports that he still lives in his home country and does not have the necessary money to flee. He spends a third of his salary on taxi rides, hoping he won’t be caught and recruited for the fight: “Living like this is terrifying, unbearable.”
Both listen to each other and agree: “This is just really bad.”

What does the Russian player say about this encounter? In the description of the clip on his TikTok channel, elimsnis addresses the community with the following message:
I never thought something like this would happen. I just want people to see it. The world has gone out of joint. When I was younger, I thought such things only happened in antiquity or in old Soviet films.
And then one day, you blink, and suddenly you’re living in another reality, in another country. Your whole life changes, and it will never be the same as it was before.
