Final Fantasy 7: Revelation was the conclusion of the Summer Game Fest. A worthy conclusion, it seems at first glance – not just for the event but also for the remake series.
Sorry, I have to express a bit of hype after this trailer. Just take a moment to remember: The remake of Final Fantasy 7 was a game that had been longed for by fans for years, maybe decades.
And when it finally came, they didn’t just make a game, but a whole trilogy out of it. Now, once again, we are approaching the conclusion of Cloud and his friends’ epic journey – and even as a fan of the original game, you don’t really know how it will end. After all, the story took quite a surprising turn in the first game.
For me, the remake was a great gaming experience, and even at the end of the first part, I could hardly wait to follow this story further. So I have been waiting for this moment since 2020 – and others possibly even longer. Now the series is heading towards its conclusion.
What it will look like remains to be seen. What the trailer shows at least are two things: First, the approach of going into the final battle against Sephiroth with a large group of allies. And second: A game that is not afraid to raise the stakes significantly in the third part.
Did you see this airship?
It’s late and the FF7 part of the show had a lot to offer, even a brief appearance by Matt Mercer.
Among the highlights for me were:
- The stunning visuals – but that was to be expected after the first two parts.
- The trailer shows the Highwind moving across the planet. It seems you can actually fly freely over the map and jump off. The world is opening up even more than before.
- The combat system looks dynamic, fast, and packed with effects.
- The known Weapons from FF7 look absolutely gigantic.
And, very importantly: We have a release window. It’s set to release in Spring 2027 and it will be available on all platforms simultaneously.
Yes, it’s too early to judge. But already FF7: Rebirth has exceeded expectations. And here, the developers seem to really want to deliver a conclusion that potentially tops that. The trailer gives a lot of hope.
