Even in the Marvel Universe, there are gods and demons inspired by Lovecraftian creatures. Among them is Chthon. He is an ancient god who has existed as long as the Earth itself. Over time, he evolved into a demon. When the being Atum became the God-Eater and threatened Chthon, he fled into a self-created dimension.
He studied dark magic long before humans even existed and authored the Darkhold, a book full of writings of malevolent magic. With it, he influences Earth. Followers of the Darkhold learn powerful magic but submit to Chthon’s teachings and gradually go mad.
