Here are the favorite classes of the MeinMMO editorial team in Dungeons & Dragons – Which one is yours?

Paladin

MeinMMO editor Sophia feels almost unbeatable with a special Paladin: I have been playing Dungeons & Dragons for a few years now, but I must admit: I haven’t tried all the classes yet. After all, I have a cool Druid, I played a Ranger in Baldur’s Gate 3, and was even on Twitch and YouTube as a Rogue – here is Ready to Roll.

However, my favorite class, I played privately with friends in Hoard of the Dragon Queen: a Paladin with Oath of Vengeance. The class has real style if you like high damage output and nicely tanky gameplay with Berserk flavor.

My Paladin Lorelei was equipped with polearms and a greatsword. Combined with a few heavy smites, she was almost unbeatable in combat.

My fondest memory is our first session: Here, the gamemaster threw a boss opponent at us who should actually have been too strong for us. Unfortunately, my Paladin, with a fitting feat and a good initiative, quickly took the guy out. It was an “accident.”

Such and similar actions continued throughout the remaining campaign. And to be honest? I really enjoy being able to “stand right in the battlefield, take a hit, and deal a hefty blow.”

The role-play opportunities are also absurdly good: Always being lawful and good is tiring, sure. But as a Vengeance Paladin, I always find a reason why someone needs to be avenged. If the rest of the group is stealing during the shopping episode, I’m just in the restroom as a player.

My conclusion? The Paladin with the Oath of Vengeance is so far my absolute favorite class.

Bonus: Old-School Paladin (old rules)

MeinMMO editor Benedict particularly loves the resilience of the Paladin: When I play Baldur’s Gate 1+2, I always play the Paladin. Especially because I enjoy the class and it fits my team combination best: I can tank for my team while mages, ranged fighters and druids take care of the rest from the background and the fighter deals out damage.

Thanks to heavy armor, many hit points, and a few healing spells, my Paladin also possesses high survival skills when a healer takes care of the hit points. In Baldur’s Gate 2, the Paladin has, in my opinion, the best class quest, at the end of which stands a hefty dragon. Compared to that, druids and fighters appear really boring.

The only downside to the “real Paladin” in my opinion: There is no real alternative in terms of alignment and you always have to choose lawful good.

Those were our favorite classes from Dungeons & Dragons. Were your favorites included?

In addition to the classes, many other things also play a significant role in the conception of one’s character. It is often not so easy to design the story and development excitingly while not neglecting the group and the framework.
