MeinMMO editor Alex loves the versatile connection to nature: I have been playing various pen-and-paper role-playing games for over 16 years, including, of course, Dungeons & Dragons. For many years, the Bard was actually my favorite – after all, he is super versatile and places a great emphasis on role-playing and supporting his buddies, which personally has always appealed to me.
Well, at least that was the case until I played a Druid for the first time because a group colleague insisted on playing a Bard and fate took its course.
In my long-standing, regular large campaign, I play the role of my sea elf Druid in the Circle of the Moon and he has burrowed deep into my heart. So deep that to this day I have tried all circles and I believe there is actually no class that is more versatile than the Druid.
Need a tank? No problem: The right Wild Shape absorbs the damage. Need a healer? Easy with the Druid’s spell list. Dealing damage while imposing it with the raw force of nature? CHECK.
Because the Druid can prepare and exchange spells during every long rest, he can adapt more versatile to upcoming situations, and the Wild Shapes give a lot of room to respond to challenges. The cherry on top is the multitude of buffs and crowd control spells that also make the Druid a perfect supporter.
In my opinion, the Druid is thus the only adequate choice if adaptability and flexibility are important – or if your group is super chaotic.
