Bard

MeinMMO editor Benedict passionately recommends you the Bard: For almost 20 years, I’ve been playing Pen & Paper and my favorite class has always been the Bard. It’s clear that Bards are the best class in the game – quite objectively, of course!
Bards have the enormous advantage of being able to function as the face of the group with their massive amounts of charisma and can persuade almost any NPC. They provide free food and lodging (unless they are terrible musicians) and have absurd bonuses on all sorts of rolls in terms of gameplay. Their true strength lies in the enormous flexibility:
- Bards from the College of Lore, for example, are versatile spellcasters with all sorts of attack and enhancement spells.
- If you choose the College of Whispers or Eloquence, you’re almost rogues who can deceive their targets or, in doubt, murder them.
- A variant as Skald is even possible: In the College of Swords or Valor, you are a frontline fighter, for example with axe and shield and inspire your group from the battlefield.
Their versatility is a dedicated part of the class, after all, they are “jack of all trades” (the feature grants bonuses on ALL attribute values that don’t already have bonuses) by the basic rules. At one time, I played four Bards in four campaigns simultaneously, and none of them felt similar to the other.
On page 4, Nico will tell you a bit about the Artificer.
