A user paid a lot of money for a computer that he later wants to use for work. However, no one knows what kind of graphics card is installed. Because the specifications are very vaguely formulated.
What did he actually get for the money? The user spent nearly $10,000 on a new machine, which is about €8,600. For that much money, at first glance, the user received high-performance hardware:
An Intel Core Ultra 9 285K, plus 64 GB of RAM and a 4 TB SSD. However, the peculiar detail is the information about the graphics card, which raises eyebrows. Because according to the packaging, it has “Nvidia GeForce Graphics” installed. No one really knows what kind of graphics card he could have purchased.
The user explains in the thread on Reddit that even the internal IT person is having trouble figuring out the graphics card:
He [the buyer] just received it [the PC] today. Our IT guy is a bit freaked out. He’s trying to figure out if it’s a 5080 or a 5090, but my God, the guy has a work computer that is far better than what most of us have at home.
A lot of money for a PC, but what graphics card is installed?
If you search for the product number of the computer, which you see on the side packaging, you won’t find exactly the purchased model. The most expensive Alienware computer with the number 2250 offers according to the official site similar hardware for nearly 6,000 euros, but with less SSD storage.
In the community, this also causes amusement. Someone writes: “They expressed themselves quite vaguely regarding the GPU specifications.”
What is actually installed in the computer? The thread starter has since posted a reply below his post, where he claims that an RTX 5090 is installed in the system. Many users speculated that either an RTX 5080 or an RTX 5090 must be installed in the system. You pay at least 3,900 euros for an RTX 5090 (via Geizhals.de).
A gaming PC as an expensive investment, but PC gaming has also changed in recent years. Because in the past you had to upgrade your system every 2 years to keep up, these upgrade cycles are getting longer. The advantage is that PC gaming becomes cheaper in the long run: PC gaming is considered an expensive hobby, but you can save significantly in the future.
