Pokémon GO has announced an event for its 10th anniversary. And it’s not that extensive.
In July 2026 it’s time: Pokémon GO celebrates its 10th anniversary. Accordingly, an event in Pokémon GO has now been announced, starting on Saturday, July 4, 2026, at 10:00 AM, and running until Monday, July 6, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

Strong bonuses, but few monsters
What bonuses are available in the event? During the event, the following bonuses are active in the game:
- 4x catch XP
- 4x catch Stardust
- increased chance of shinies in the wild
- Gierspenst can appear with a special background if you use a golden lure module
- if you use a coin pouch, Gierspenst can also appear as shiny (more info on golden lure modules and coin pouches)
- Field research with event Pokémon
- Bulbasaur, Blastoise, and Charizard will receive their exclusive moves when you evolve them during the event
- new avatar items in the in-game shop
- event stickers at PokéStops or through gifts
- paid, limited research for $1.99 (approximately 2 €), in which you will receive a super incubator, a premium battle pass, and an encounter with Gierspenst with a special background
What monsters are available in the event? The monsters you can catch in the event are currently quite limited. In the wild, you can encounter the following Pokémon:
- Pikachu with cake hat*
- Eevee with party hat*
- Wurmple with party hat*
Monsters marked with a * can also appear as shiny.
What does the community say about it? The announcement of the event receives little positive feedback so far on Reddit. Some of the comments are:
- “For such a significant milestone as a 10th anniversary, this seems rather lackluster,” writes Gloomy_Onion2512
- “Oh, I’ve seen the bonuses, they’re quite nice. But the fact that the same Eevee and Pikachu costumes keep appearing feels somewhat uninspired,” adds Gloomy_Onion2512
- “Recycled content might be the most fitting option for Niantic’s 10th anniversary,” says goshe7
- “To celebrate the tenth anniversary of our game appropriately, we’ll kick things off by simply repeating last year’s event, but with better bonuses,” comments Melodic_Share7398
- “This can’t possibly be everything for the 10th anniversary, can it?” wonders randomdragn
To celebrate the anniversary, there will also be the GO Fest 2026 in a special form taking place in July. Since there are already very strong contents, Niantic might intentionally forgo another event with many contents to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the game.
