A game on Steam lets you build the most unique war machines you can think of and use them against your enemies. The whole fun currently costs you only €3.
Which game is meant? We are talking about Besiege. It is a physics-based building game from the developer Spiderling Studios. However, the motto of the game is not construction, but demolition – you build destructive war machines.
Besiege left Early Access on Steam in 2020 after about a year. By the way, you can currently get the game there for only €2.95 instead of €14.79. In the following years, releases for Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S followed, and in December 2024, it will be available on PS4 and PS5.

Nothing is too quirky to work
What is the game about? Besiege offers both a campaign with over 50 levels and a multiplayer mode where you can build your own mechanical war machine. With this, you then aim to destroy enemy villages, castles, and armies.
Thanks to a variety of different blocks that can be combined in many ways, your creativity knows almost no bounds. From simple catapults to medieval giant robots, pretty much anything you can think of can be implemented.
What is possible is shown in a showcase by the developers for the 10th anniversary of the game. In addition to modern warfare equipment like tanks, fans even built a battleship from Warhammer 40,000:
Destruction construction kit par excellence
Is the game concept also fun? If you believe the over 46,000 positive reviews on Steam, then yes. They make up 95% of all reviews on Steam. The appeal of the game lies not only in building but also in the subsequent destruction.
While you initially build quite simple machines to familiarize yourself with the game’s systems, your creations become increasingly monstrous and impressive over time – although not always practical, as one Steam user admits.
Another Steam user writes: “Welcome to Besiege, where you can build catapults, flying death machines, or spinning saw monstrosities – all to destroy castles, armies, and your own dignity. […] 9/10 – would accidentally crush my own troops again.”
Is Besiege a bit too chaotic for you? If you’re looking for a very realistic version of the Middle Ages, you should check out the new RPG Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: The new Kingdom Come has a strong start on Steam, is 92% positive, and players especially celebrate one thing.
