Faker has broken another record in League of Legends, but this time he has to share it. Alongside him, there are 6 other record holders, including the best German pro BrokenBlade.
What is this record? On June 14, 2026, the LCK playoffs for the “Mid-Season Invitational 2026” (MSI) were concluded. The best Korean teams faced each other for a spot at the most important LoL tournament after the Worlds.
In the final, T1, where Faker plays, faced Gen.G and played a total of 5 matches. During the livestream, over 2 million viewers were present, making it the most popular tournament of the year so far (escharts.com).
After T1 was finally able to defeat their opponents, the team qualified for the MSI. As a result, Faker, his support Keria, and jungler Oner are among the 7 players who have qualified for the tournament for 5 consecutive years.
The best German pro and a familiar face from T1 are also record holders
Who else holds records? Besides Faker, Keria, and Oner from T1, there are additional players on board with consecutive MSI appearances:
- BrokenBlade from G2 Esports, regarded as one of the best top laners, who has already been interviewed by us about his role.
- Caps from G2 Esports is BrokenBlade’s teammate and mid laner, and is seen as Europe’s hope in the LoL scene.
- Bin from Bilibili Gaming has made it to the top 4 in the last four MSI tournaments and even won once.
- Gumayusi from Hanwha Life Esports is the last record holder and former teammate of Faker, Keria, and Oner. Together, the pros won three Worlds titles in a row until Gumayusi left the team in November 2025.
When does the Mid-Season Invitational take place? The MSI 2026 starts on June 28 and will end on July 12. The games will be streamed on the official Twitch channel of Riot Games.
The winner of the 11 teams will receive a direct invitation to the Worlds 2026, which will ultimately take place around mid-October to November at the end of the season.
Alongside the professional scene, League of Legends has received a new champion. This is the AP Assassin and mid laner Locke. Unfortunately, this champ will be the only one for this year, but we can look forward to 2027, as LoL has announced significant changes: Riot announces one of the largest updates in LoL’s history, planning extensive reworks of the entire game
