The face of Throne and Liberty, “Tico” has left Amazon Games, but he’s not going just anywhere, rather to the developer of the MMORPG.
What is the status of Throne and Liberty? Ever since Amazon announced the end of New World, fans have been wondering what will happen to the other MMORPGs. While Lost Ark initially lost, among other things, the German language, it is now struggling with significant player loss.
Things are slightly different for Throne and Liberty. Although a slow downward trend is also creeping in here according to SteamDB, the MMORPG is currently in a better position after server mergers and thanks to further updates. However, there haven’t been any major leaps since the September update.
Fans are speculating what to expect from Amazon Games in the future as the publisher of MMORPGs. However, there’s already another blow for the company.

Tico leaves Amazon Games
Who has left? Throne and Liberty has released a video every month featuring host Tico discussing upcoming updates, issues, and feedback. However, host Tico has now left Amazon Games according to his LinkedIn profile.
But Tico is not unemployed; on the contrary: he has made a seamless transition to NC (formerly NCSoft). There, he now works as “Director of Product Management,” which does not really narrow down or describe his role.
What could this mean? With the move to NC, two theories come to mind, both of which are possible. The main theory is that Amazon Games is stepping back from the MMORPGs they brought to the West together with NC as developers. This would align with the end of New World and the announced exit from the traditional MMORPG direction.
This would mean that NC would also take on the role of publisher for their MMORPGs and in this course want to retain the face of Throne and Liberty. Tico would thus remain at Throne and Liberty under NC leadership, and Amazon Games would be phased out sooner or later.
We already inquired about Amazon Games’ future plans for another article regarding Amazon Games and have received no response yet. So, it remains completely open whether the move means the end of Amazon Games or if theory number 2 is true.
What is the second theory? In a post on Reddit, many believe that Tico is moving to NC to work on the release of Aion 2 in the West. As the face of Throne and Liberty, he would thus become history and potentially take on the same role at Aion 2.
One theory does not necessarily exclude the other, so Tico could work on both Aion 2 and Throne and Liberty for NC. However, whether one of the two theories turns out to be true cannot yet be stated with certainty.
What will happen with Amazon Games and its MMORPGs remains uncertain. However, the indicators are increasingly pointing to a transition to NC. There have also been significant departures recently at Amazon’s other MMORPG Lost Ark: After layoffs, fans worry about the penultimate MMORPG from Amazon, is the fate of New World looming?
