Pre-order a Battle Pass like a PC game? EA has just introduced exactly that. Many players don’t know what to make of the option.
Essentially, Battle Passes are nothing new for players. Typically, they are systems that reward players for playtime with cosmetic items (skins, emotes) while also generating revenue for the developers.
However, it is new that you can now also pre-order such Battle Passes. Just like you can pre-order a new PC game. That is exactly what EA has now introduced in its shooter Battlefield 6.
Battlefield 6 lets you pre-order Battle Pass before the official season
Where can you find it? If you currently start Battlefield 6, you will receive a notification in the game that you can pre-order the Battle Pass for Season 3 and BF Pro (the extended pass) before its launch on May 12, 2026.
The standard pass costs 1,100 Battlefield Coins (about 10 Euros), while you can only buy the Pro version with real money. That is currently about 25 Euros.
If you pre-order the Battle Pass now, you will immediately receive access to the “Verdant” weapon pack for the L110 (a LMG) and additionally receive two free tiers in the Battle Pass. This means less grind in the game later.
How is this received by the players? This approach feels a bit strange to many. The English-language magazine PCGamer jests that it is quite different to pre-order a Battle Pass instead of a real PC or console game. Additionally, the pre-order bonuses are not really that great to make it worth it.
Players in the community obviously see it quite similarly, looking at Reddit. Someone writes:
I have never come across the option to pre-order an upcoming Battle Pass.
However, there are also some positive voices saying: If you are going to play the game daily and would buy every Battle Pass anyway, then there is nothing wrong with pre-ordering. In the end, you would purchase it anyway. You would just be making the click to buy two weeks earlier than usual.
