Season 14 is starting soon in Diablo 4 and will bring not only new content to the ARPG but also a free trial for the Warlock.
How can I play the Warlock for free? Players who play Diablo 4 on Battle.net, Xbox, or PlayStation have the opportunity to try out the new class of Warlock for free. All you need is an edition of the base game. The trial period starts with Season 14 on June 30, 2026, at 7 PM CEST and runs until July 7, 2026, at 7:00 PM CEST.
Anyone who plays the Warlock during the test until level 30 and purchases the expansion “Lord of Hatred” can carry over their progress with the same character. Once you own the DLC, you can continue playing the Warlock without any time restrictions.
Three Warlock Builds to Level Up
Which builds are recommended? To easily get through all the content you encounter on your way to level 30 with the Warlock, we recommend three strong leveling builds. A detailed guide to all three builds can be found in our guide.
Horrorscale Warlock
Skills: Horrorscale, Hellspawn Spike, Deep Step, Madness, Seal of Decay
This is how the build plays:
- Your main attacks revolve around Hellspawn Spike for powerful DoT (Damage over Time) against elite and boss enemies.
- Madness also deals good damage in the form of a demon.
- For trash mobs, you use Horrorscale as they create powerful area damage around you – all enemies in your vicinity will be destroyed.
- Deep Step serves as your mobility skill and helps you escape from dangerous situations quickly.
- Seal of Decay curses enemies and grants you Shadow Form.
This class mechanic do you choose: At level 15, you unlock the class mechanic of the Warlock. You can then choose Soul Shards and Fragments (from level 30) to summon demons. You drag the skills from the skill assignment directly onto your skill bar.
For Horrorscale, we recommend the Wire Pull Shard and the Blasphemous Fragment. This unlocks Laalish, which you can summon.
Minions Warlock
Skills: Commanding the Fallen, Bombardment, Deep Step, Madness, Seal of Summonings
- Your main attack is Bombardment. You summon demons from the sky and let them fall on your enemies.
- Commanding the Fallen generates a lot of rage both passively and actively and deals solid damage.
- Seal of Summonings increases the number of your demons as well as the duration they remain active.
- Deep Step also serves as your mobility skill and for escaping from dangerous situations.
This class mechanic do you choose: As a Soul Shard, you choose the Legion Shard and the Blasphemous Fragment. With this, you can summon Ae’grom and additionally spawn more minions.
Eviscerator Warlock
Skills: Hellspawn Spike, Bombardment, Deep Step, Madness, Seal of Summonings
- When you fight single targets like bosses or elite enemies, you use Hellspawn Spike for the highest DPS.
- Against larger groups of enemies, Bombardment and Madness are your best option as they provide the necessary area damage.
- Seal of Summonings increases the number of your demons and the duration they stay active.
- With Deep Step, you have the option to escape the attacks of your enemies and move quickly across the map.
This class mechanic do you choose: As a Soul Shard, you choose the Legion Shard and the Subjugation Fragment. This unlocks Ae’grom, which you can summon along with a small demon army that triggers “Eviscerate”.
