While veterans often just chuckle at the Butcher in Diablo 4, newcomers fear when they encounter the boss. A beginner recently desperately sought help from the community after being completely overwhelmed by the boss.
Here’s what’s up with the Butcher: The Butcher is a boss, who can randomly surprise you in any dungeon. You’ll notice this at the latest by the thudding footsteps as he rushes towards you. He greets you with the words, “Ah, fresh meat!” He is so dangerous because he deals massive damage, pulls players in with his hook, and despite his bulky stature, moves surprisingly quickly.
For many veterans, he has become more of a joke, especially at higher levels. However, newer players fear the relentless boss they can randomly encounter.
What happened to the newbie? A player turned to the Reddit community completely bewildered after he ran into the Butcher at level 9. In his post, he desperately asked how one is supposed to fight this “thing” at all. He actually just wanted to complete a side quest and ended up thinking that the boss was part of the task, which is why he temporarily abandoned the quest.
“Ah, the Butcher does Butcher things”
This is what the community advises him: Most players agree: At this low level, you shouldn’t even try to fight but rather hastily seek an escape. At level 9, you’re basically still equipped with a ‘butter knife and burlap sack’ and have no chance against this behemoth.
Experienced users recommend focusing first on the campaign in Diablo 4, exploring the world, and farming better loot. Once you are equipped with gear, skills, and class mechanics, the Butcher no longer poses a significant problem.
The user thoughtjester notes that it’s likely the Butcher’s job to scare new players. Other users like Zealousideal_Hope_31 emphasize that the Butcher takes everyone out at the beginning, but later, you are the one who laughs last. And Ezekku even misses the feeling that the Butcher with his “Butcher things” evokes in new players.
