Diablo expert Rhykker is convinced that the new loot filter in Diablo 4 contains hints of an upcoming class. Because there is a weapon there that doesn’t belong there (yet).
What has the expert discovered? YouTuber and Twitch streamer Rhykker is known for his analytical content about various ARPGs like Diablo, Path of Exile, or Last Epoch. In his latest video, he discusses a discovery he believes points to a new class, at least it definitely suggests a new type of weapon.
Because in the new loot filter of Diablo 4, a tab has been discovered that revolves around the weapon type “hand crossbow” – yet it doesn’t exist in the game so far. The expert assumes that the tab was accidentally shown to players. In his opinion, it could hint at various things, including the next new class.
A Demon Hunter for Diablo 4?
What does the hand crossbow suggest? As Rhykker notes in his video, there are various possibilities for why the weapon could be introduced into the game:
- New class “Demon Hunter”
- Anyone who has played other parts of Diablo is already familiar with the Demon Hunter. In Diablo 3, the hand crossbow was his absolute signature weapon, and therefore the suspicion arises that the class could make it into the game with an update or the next expansion.
- A new prestige class system / specializations
- Another theory could be a new system for prestige classes or specializations, and that the crossbow could belong to a new specialization of the hunter (which could of course also be the demon hunter). From his perspective, it could be that all classes then evolve further at a certain point. However, since this would require significant development effort, he considers it less likely – at least not in the near term.
- Just a new weapon
- It could also be that one or more classes simply receive new weapon types and the crossbow is among them.
- Scrapped content
- The far sadder variant would be if this were a remnant of scrapped content that was supposed to make it into the game but was cut at some point. It could be that a part was left over in the program code and was accidentally made visible.
Whether and which theory will prove true remains to be seen. Nevertheless, it would be delightful if the popular weapon type somehow finds its way into the game.
