During gamescom 2022, the developers Funcom (Conan Exiles) announced a new MMORPG. It is titled Dune: Awakening and features an open world and survival elements.
At the Opening Night of gamescom, Funcom presented the trailer for Dune: Awakening for the first time. The cinematic trailer does not yet show any gameplay but reveals that it will be a survival MMO. Additionally, the visuals suggest a detailed and sophisticated graphics.
A Steam page where you can add the game to your wishlist has also been available since last night.
Survive in the open world full of sand deserts
What kind of game is it? In Dune: Awakening, you create a character and enter the deserts of the planet Arrakis. The MMORPG promises to combine creative survival elements with the social interactions of a large multiplayer game.
This is what Dune offers:
- An open world you can explore. The deserts of Arrakis change over time.
- Crafting – For example, you must build your own shelter to protect yourself from sandstorms and enemies.
- Various vehicles.
- PvP in the open world.
- The fictional drug “Spice” from the Dune universe plays an important role. You farm and consume Spice to be able to use certain abilities.

Who is this game already interesting for? Dune: Awakening is aimed at fans of survival games, especially of Conan Exiles. At the same time, you should be comfortable with no longer being alone or just with a few friends in the game, but with thousands of other players.
Also, fans of the movies and books from the Dune universe will surely find the MMORPG interesting, as you can recognize cool details.
