Shortly after the announcement of Warzone for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Activision has now released new information about the Battle Royale. The features at launch look especially interesting for teams.
How many players can play Warzone? In the Battle Royale mode Warzone, 150 players will play in a round on the huge map “Verdansk”. This increases the usual number of 100 players by half.
At the start of the mode, teams of three will also be able to play, similar to Apex Legends. However, CoD allows crossplay here between PC, PS4, and Xbox One, just like the base game. You can find the trailer for the mode here:
What vehicles are available? To get ahead with the large number of players and the big map, Activision has already introduced five vehicles:
- ATV – A quad for two players, fast and agile but unprotected, strong off-road
- Tactical Rover – Four-seater with little protection, somewhat fast and usable off-road
- SUV – Four-seater, provides more protection, is slower and suitable only for roads
- Cargo Truck – For the whole squad and equipment, high armor, but slow and completely unsuitable for off-road
- Helicopter – Four-seater, moderate cover, flies
When does Warzone launch? A countdown is currently ticking down in the main menu of Modern Warfare and ends at 4:00 PM on March 10th. Then owners of Modern Warfare can start playing.
At 8 PM, the free-to-play version opens for all those who do not want to spend money.
More features of Warzone
What else does Warzone offer? In the post, Activision also revealed that there will be a money system, as a YouTuber had already presented in a previous leak.
You can find cash or take it from opponents to buy weapons, killstreaks, and equipment at machines. For cash, there are also self-revive kits and respawn tokens for friends.
With contracts, you can earn cash, items, or specific abilities like predicting the next ring. A squad can only have one contract active at a time.
In addition, there is the Gulag, possibly the best feature of the mode. In the Gulag, defeated players end up after their first “death” and can fight each other to re-enter the game.
Is there a progress system? Those who play Warzone can apparently also earn progress for the Battle Pass of Modern Warfare. This applies to all players – free-to-play and buyers.
However, those who play for free will only receive their progress credited once they purchase the game. Until then, their progress will be “stored” and then credited later.
The fact that players are supposed to play in teams of three does not help with a current problem of Warzone – impatience:
