Tonight it’s finally happening: With Lord of Hatred, the new expansion for Diablo 4 is starting along with Season 13. However, you should wait a bit with character creation – or at least remember that the season starts later.
What might I miss? Lord of Hatred and Season 13 release on the same day, and even almost simultaneously, but just almost. While Lord of Hatred goes live at 1:00 AM German time, the Season according to official info starts at 1:30 AM.
We don’t assume that you can log in directly at 1:00 AM. However, if that is the case, you can create a character, but only on the eternal realm – at least for now.
We will be tracking the release in the live ticker for Lord of Hatred.
If you want to play the season, you would have to log out again and create a new seasonal character. Typically, you don’t want to do that once you’re in the game, to avoid possible queues.
Lord of Hatred and Season 13 start (almost) at the same time but bring different features: Why do I need the 40-Euro-DLC and what is coming for free to Diablo 4?
Starting directly at 1 AM – This is why it still makes sense
If the servers are not completely overloaded and you are among the few lucky ones allowed to log in right at the start, then you don’t have to just stare at the screen for 30 minutes and wait.
If you want to take the risk of having to log out and log back in, you can already check out the new skill trees for all classes on the eternal realm, which will be part of the free update – so without DLC surcharge.
Even though Lord of Hatred has already received strong ratings and caused a hype in the community beforehand, the majority of players typically play only on the weekend – or at least not at the release in the middle of the night. If you are still unsure what you want to play: Ask the Wheel of Fate what class you will play in Lord of Hatred
