After the changes to matchmaking, ARC Raiders has changed for many players. One explains how the new PvP lobbies look now.
What are these changes? The developers of ARC Raiders have changed the way the game shapes its matchmaking. A major change is that self-defense no longer counts as PvP. It only counts as PvP if you initiate the fight.
Moreover, rounds with little activity weigh less. So, whoever started the round and runs straight to the exit will find it harder to earn a passive reputation. The matchmaking is, however, a scale.
Thus explained the developers, that you could also always encounter PvP players and that there is not just the peaceful and the PvP lobby. Nevertheless, the system would sort according to the behavior and play style of the players, and this is immediately noticeable to a player.

PvP Lobby or War?
How does the change affect? The new change has likely brought direct impacts on the system. A player with 200 gameplay hours and over 2,000 kills on Reddit reports how things are now on the PvP side of ARC Raiders. While before he always aimed for balanced fights with a fairly cheap loadout, this has completely changed now.
According to him, the lobbies have turned into a war zone. His opponents are always equipped with top gear, using barricades and trigger grenades, and have a high skill level. It’s as if war has broken out, the player says, and the opponents are much stronger than before.
While he previously managed well with his equipment, he says in the post that he has not yet extracted even once. However, he does not mind the changes; for him, it’s been a long time since it’s been as exciting as now, and he hopes to reach the exit again soon.
How do players react to the changes? In the comments under the post on Reddit, other players also share their experiences. It quickly reads how much ARC Raiders has changed with just one update:
- Md1pl: “Since the post went live, I’ve played a few matches, and they actually felt varied. I came across a few friendly players with microphones, went to a different part of the map, and suddenly a war broke out between three players while I was trying to hide and survive. That definitely made me more tense in regular matches.”
- Shriim: “Welcome to the high-elo area. If you can survive in this lobby, you will forever rise to the underworld of cheaters. Congratulations.”
- Notorious1136: “On the contrary, I’ve noticed the opposite. I’ve TRIED to get into PvP lobbies. I keep getting stuck in ‘Care-Bear’ lobbies. And honestly, as much as I want PvP, I just can’t handle these ‘Care Bears’, I can’t bring myself to do it […]”
