At the State of Play 2026, numerous new titles for the PS5 were announced, and there was another gameplay trailer for Wolverine. MeinMMO author Johanna has been looking forward to the new PS5 game for a long time and finally wants to play as her childhood hero.

, my buddy told me about 13 years ago, unaware that with this introduction to Wolverine, he made me a fan. Ever since I saw Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the movie X-Men (2000), I had fallen for the anti-hero.
Before that, thanks to my father, I had only dealt with Batman(-comics). Batman is and will always be my absolute favorite, but Wolverine gives me something different. He is ruthless. While I appreciate Batman’s moral and just nature, Wolverine’s brutal edge has its own appeal.
I am a huge fan of the Batman Arkham games by Rocksteady Studios and loved gliding through Gotham City as the dark hero, but now I am looking forward to slicing through opponents as Wolverine, thanks to the new trailer.

7 Minutes of Action and Carnage
There are only 7 minutes of gameplay shown in the new trailer for Wolverine. However, that’s enough for me to be glad that I own a PlayStation 5. This way, I can play the game directly at release. I’m even seriously considering pre-ordering it. Since Insomniac Games has such a good reputation with their Spider-Man series, I have no worries that the game could flop.
Moreover, Wolverine’s finishers look fantastic in the trailer: they are fast and creative! I admired this agility in the combat animations of the Spider-Man games, and I’m glad to see that it fits the brutal style of Wolverine as well.
Also: I’m somehow fascinated by Wolverine’s arm hair. So much detail was put into animating those hairs properly. But it also makes sense, as we see his biceps very prominently in the game.
Additionally, I am very curious about which of the many X-Men and mutants we will see in the game. Jean already made her appearance in the trailer, and I really like her new look.
Wolverine is just cool, and I can’t wait to step into his role! What do you think of the gameplay trailer? Let us know in the comments!
