What it has in common with Destiny: supernatural abilities, build variety, mysteries & puzzles, challenging boss fights
Why is this an alternative to Destiny? In Destiny, many bosses feature unique mechanics. In a fight, you need to kill certain enemies to charge a buff that allows you to damage the boss. In another instance, parts of a raid team must coordinate to read symbols and communicate them to their teammates. These boss and raid mechanics distinguish Destiny from many other shooters, where bosses are often just bullet sponges with fancy attacks.
Remnant: From the Ashes and Remnant 2 can hold their own against Destiny in terms of boss fights. They have various phases, require specific actions from you before you can deal damage, and can drop different loot based on how you kill them.
However, Remnant has even more in store for Destiny fans: You can discover plenty of mysteries and tackle puzzles to find hidden unlocks like new classes. Alternatively, you can optimize your build for the class you are currently playing, as countless options are available to design a build for your preferred playstyle through weapon mods, mutators, rings, and amulets or by combining classes.
What you need to know about the game: Remnant 2 has earned the reputation of being the “Dark Souls with guns.” Accordingly, the overall feel of the game is closer to a Soulslike than to a classic loot shooter. Moreover, the shooter is played from a third-person perspective, thus offering a very different gunplay and movement compared to Destiny.
Loot in Remnant is one-time only: If you acquire a weapon after a boss fight, it is yours to keep. You don’t need to beat the boss countless times hoping for a better version of the weapon to drop.
