Final Fantasy XIV: Unlocking the Beastmaster and leveling quickly – This is how you effectively reach max level

You can find the quest to unlock the limited job in New Gridania at the coordinates X:11.8 Y:13.6.

The NPC is called “Excited Adventurer” and he has the quest for you titled “Unknown Species”. You can find him in the tavern near the Aetherite Plaza:

The quest will lead you directly to a Beastmaster and your first bond with a creature. After that you can start the leveling phase.

Are there requirements? Yes, you must have completed the main story of A Realm Reborn (the quest “The Ultimate Weapon“). Additionally, you need to own the Dawntrail expansion.

Leveling the Beastmaster Quickly: Enhance Experience with Items

How can you effectively increase the experience gained? The most effective leveling method starts with preparation. Some items provide you with valuable bonuses to your gained experience:

Novice Ring
- +30% EXP until level 30
- Obtained by completing certain tutorials in the Novice Hall
Neophyte Ring
- +30% EXP until level 60
- Obtained by completing the entire Novice Hall
Menphina Earring (or another earring from a pre-order, such as Azeyma)
- +30% EXP until level 80
Friendship Circlet / Helm of Light
- +30% EXP until level 25
- Obtained by recruiting a friend or through the ARR Collector’s Edition
Buff Food
- Whatever it is, honestly
- Gives a flat +3% EXP
Combat Guide
- +15% EXP
- Available from your company’s strike teams
Optional: Buffs from your Free Company
- +5%, +10%, or +15%, depending on buff level

The items stack their effects, allowing you to significantly shorten your leveling process.

Tip: You can also see from your mount with the analyze ability whether you can tame a creature. However, your mount’s feet must be on the ground for this.

Leveling the Beastmaster Quickly: The Right Content

Which content should you play to level up? At the beginning, it’s enough if you just walk around, fight, and collect monsters. You can easily reach level 25 in a short time if you have made the right preparations.

If you want to take advantage of a higher EXP rate directly or when it gets tighter, you need to focus on FATEs in the open world. Make sure to choose regions that match your current level:

Level 1–15: Central La Noscea, Lower La Noscea, Deep Woods, North Forest, Central Thanalan, Western Thanalan
Level 15–25: Western La Noscea, Upper La Noscea, East Woods, Eastern Thanalan
Level 25–35: Eastern La Noscea, South Woods, Southern Thanalan
Level 35–45: Central Highlands of Coerthas, Outer La Noscea
Level 40–50: Northern Thanalan, Mor Dhona, and the high-level outskirts of the starting areas (e.g., in the East and South Woods or in southern and eastern Thanalan)

Can you be pulled by higher-level players? Yes, but it doesn’t provide increased experience in the open world like during the Blue Mage era. It’s unfortunately more effective to play FATEs if you want to gather increased experience.

Is the “Beast Board” content worth leveling? Through the “Beast Board”, you can test your builds and earn useful items. However, there are no increased experiences here.

What about dungeons? Additionally, dungeons can be worthwhile at your respective level, as you may encounter monsters you can tame. However, they often take longer than what is really worth it for leveling. If your goal is just to reach level 50, the methods above are significantly more beneficial.

It can make sense to go in with a leveled friend without level restrictions, so you can calmly tame the necessary creatures while your friend takes out the excess enemies.
