WoW: Midnight has brought many new features – but also removed quite a few. Two types of quests are no longer available, which many fans lament.
In the current expansion of World of Warcraft, there is a lot to do. Midnight is bursting with a variety of content. There are so many that some are already experiencing a WoW burnout. However, two popular types of quests have obviously not made it into the Midnight addon. And they are now sorely missed.
What type of quests are no longer in Midnight? Essentially, there are two types of quests that do not appear in Midnight at all:
- Pet Battles: There are neither world quests nor pet battles anymore. Instead, there are only pets that one can simply collect, and they cannot fight either.
- Dragon Racing: The dragon races were introduced with the dragon riding (later “Sky Riding”) in Dragonflight and were quite popular. They also appeared in The War Within. In Midnight, they are completely absent.
Quests were likely passion projects of individual developers
Why are the quests no longer available? According to unconfirmed reports, both types of content (that is, dragon races and pet battles) were passion projects of individual developers who were still maintaining these out of personal interest. However, the respective developers are said to have left or been reassigned with new tasks.
Previously, Blizzard also announced that pet battles would change in Midnight. The interest in the feature has decreased over the years, leading to a search for new ways to utilize these resources more effectively.
What do you think about dragon racing and pet battles? Would you like to see a return of this content? Or can you not relate to either quest and are glad they are no longer in Midnight?
Community speaks out, wants the return of the quests: In the WoW subreddit, many wish for the return of exactly such quests. Some of the comments:
- “I liked both, but the dragon racing with the air currents in the old world is a clear win for me. These air currents should be a normal part of the world if they want people to travel more.” – Whysoblunted
- “I absolutely love dragon riding quests.
I know, I know, apparently the developer who made them left the company … but … come on, Blizzard. You are a big company, surely you could [bring these quests back] if you just assigned someone to do them.
It’s such an easy win, and they are left for no reason.” – KingOfAzmerloth - “Any quest that doesn’t require a fight is a clear win for me. Dragon riding, cataloging, climbing, and so on – all good. Everything else in this game requires fights, and it’s nice to have a few things that deviate from that.” – PlatonicTraglodyte
At least: Something comparable to the dragon racing quests still exists during the summer solstice. Because there you travel through the old world and experience some of the best story quests that tell an interesting part of the lore.
