Brewfest in Mage format? The “Tavern Crawl” event in World of Warcraft travels the whole world – all in the name of magic, of course.
With the upcoming “small” patch 7.1.5, the developers of World of Warcraft are trying to focus on class balance issues and a lot of little things. Part of this includes the new “Micro Holidays”, mini-events that only last a day or two and are not associated with big rewards. The main goal is to give the game world a little more depth and story, following the question: What other holidays might the residents of Azeroth have?
One of those days is the “Kirin Tor Tavern Crawl” – a tour through many taverns. The event is primarily about one thing: getting properly drunk while traveling the world. Over at wowhead, they took a look at it on the test server.
Anyone who wants to experience the event just needs to visit the faction’s tavern in Dalaran and let a gnome (“Tipsy Wobbletrink”) teleport them to the current location of the festivities. For example, you can get to the tavern “The End of the World” in Shattrath. But the mages don’t stay there long; every few minutes, they pack their things and teleport to the next tavern to continue drinking. Upon request, they will take the players with them.
As is typical for Blizzard, there are some hidden references in the event: The drink “Earl Greymane, Hot” is a nod to the favorite tea of starship Captain Picard, and the whole event is reminiscent of the comedy “The World’s End” with Simon Pegg.
The basic principle in every tavern is the same: Drink until the healer arrives. But each tavern has some special NPCs and drinks that can temporarily place a special headpiece on the characters’ heads or even transform the player entirely.
On the PTR, the tour has “only” 10 different taverns so far, but the game data indicates that the event could visit more inns.
The used title image also comes from wowhead (see source).
Also included in patch 7.1.5 are the drastic changes for the Shadow Priest.
