Callers in World of Warcraft still have a hard time. Because many do not understand how they can actually help in battle.
In World of Warcraft there are 3 fixed roles. Tanks bind the enemies to themselves, healers ensure that everyone has enough health points, and DPS characters deal the damage. This is the Holy Trinity, the foundation of many MMORPGs. However, one specialization in the game is not so easy to classify – the Enhancement Caller. Although it is recognized as a DPS character, its damage numbers are low. Because it is actually a supporter.
Many people still do not know this after more than 3 years.
Enhancement is not clearly recognized in the damage meter
What is the problem with the Caller? The Caller itself is not a problem, but rather the Enhancement specialization (“Augmentation”). This one is displayed as a DPS specialization, but actually has more support characteristics. It increases the performance of other characters, who then deal more damage.
Essentially, this is an interesting playstyle that can significantly advance groups. However, the problem is: In the evaluation, it is not clear how much the Enhancement Caller actually contributes.
Anyone who does not know this specialization and looks at the damage meter will only see that the Caller deals relatively little damage. This has been a problem for years.
What is the consequence of this? Anyone looking at the damage meter will wonder: “Why is this DPS character dealing so little damage?” This can quickly lead to group exclusion – if the whole group does not know what an Enhancement Caller actually does, as repeated examples show, such as in the WoW subreddit:

How can this be fixed? Actually, the introduction of its own damage meter by Blizzard would have been the perfect time to accurately display the boosted damage of Callers, so that the whole group can see at a glance how much this character actually contributes to the fight. As long as this is not the case, there will always be incidents in which Callers are accused of poor performance.
However, one can also ask whether exclusion from the group is really the worst fate that befalls the Caller. Because perhaps one does not even want to be in a group that does not understand or know the basic mechanics of other classes.
