The long wait has paid off. In the next patch of World of Warcraft, the Night Elves have a new home – and they are starting to settle in right away.
Already in the campaign of Patch 10.2 Guardians of the Dream, it became evident that the Night Elves would have their dream fulfilled and be given a new dwelling place. With the completion of the campaign and the successful defeat of Fyrakk, the new World Tree “Amirdrassil” will be brought to the physical plane of Azeroth.
In another questline, the Night Elves will build a Moonwell and celebrate the new tree – before they begin to settle it.
In the upcoming patch 10.2.5, these efforts are starting to bear fruit. Because Bel’ameth already has some dwellings and is almost considered a full-fledged city. We want to show you in this article what to expect in the upcoming patch in Bel’ameth and which known (or unknown) NPCs you can meet in the new home of the Kaldorei.
Bel’ameth – the new home of the Night Elves
After Teldrassil and thus Darnassus were burned at the beginning of “Battle for Azeroth”, the Night Elves are homeless. So far, they have mainly found refuge in Stormwind, now they are progressing to the Dragon Isles.
With Darnassus, most buildings have little in common. The architecture is largely in the style of buildings from Val’sharah. Some buildings are simply “copy & paste” – as this is the modern building style of the Night Elves, it is fitting.
It is noticeable that there is a quite large area with portals leading to various important points in the world. Thus, there is a portal to Stormwind, but also portals to the Darkshore, to Hyjal, and sometimes wanderers from Val’sharah appear, who will also presumably receive a portal. This is operated by the Shen’dralar, the Night Elf mages, who seem to have now arrived in society.
However, there are also a whole series of completely new constructions that have not been seen in the game before. For example, there is a large facility that presumably belongs to the Watchers or the Moon Priestesses – currently, Tyrande (doubled) is standing there with her adopted daughter.
But not only is the center of Amirdrassil being settled, there are also some buildings in the north – far from the city. At the coast, there is an elven tower where all the “outcasts” have gathered; that is, death knights, demon hunters, undead huntresses, and also some mages of the Shen’dralar. Occasionally, these characters can also be found in the city, so it seems there is no strict separation; they just train a little aside. Probably for the best, as you can see books with demonic magic here – nature is always particularly sensitive to that.
Additionally, there are Moonwells located all over Amirdrassil, similar to those already found on Teldrassil or Nordrassil (Hyjal). The priests must have been quite diligent with the consecrations.
A really large harbor with additional buildings, like an inn, is also located in the north. Up to 3 ships can dock there – whether they will actually have connections to the world remains to be seen.
Is there more to come? Yes, definitely. The city of Bel’ameth is currently under construction. So far, many of the buildings still appear quite bare, so it is likely that the city is not only under construction in the context of the story, but that the developers are also still working on the final design. This is also noticeable in that in many places, grass or bushes are “clipping through buildings” – it’s just not quite finished yet. It seems likely that the state in patch 10.2.5 is only an “interim step” before Bel’ameth becomes a full-fledged capital city.
Whether this also means that Night Elves will receive a new starting area remains to be seen. In any case, it’s nice to see that Blizzard apparently has even more planned for the area, and that the Kaldorei fans are gradually having their wishes fulfilled.
The founding of Bel’ameth is by the way one of the best quests of the entire expansion.
