About the war plans, you could farm endless Loot Goblins in Diablo 4. With the latest patch, Blizzard is removing the farming method – especially since it led to strange bugs.
A player killed 2,401 Loot Goblins in a single dungeon, producing more loot than Diablo 4 can handle. The trick was quite simple, albeit reliant on a lot of luck.
With the war plans, the new feature from Lord of Hatred, you could “store” the souls of enemies by activating a shrine through the perk “Challenge” to summon them again after the buff expired.
By chaining buffs in dungeons with many shrines and killing the extremely rare goblin “Syrus von Gallert”, a chain reaction could be triggered, but it required many hours of patience or an enormous amount of luck for this setup.
In the latest patch from May 26, 2026, Blizzard removed this farming method. In the official patch notes, it states: “A bug has been fixed that could cause a certain war plan node to spawn infinite goblins.”

On Reddit, some players are discussing the fix and say: “Blizzard should have kept it in. It required a lot of work and a lot of luck to achieve that.” Only that (in theory) literally endless amounts of goblins were possible, was probably not planned.
Furthermore, the game treated all enemies named “Syrus von Gellert” – which splits into 2 smaller versions 2 times – as the “big” goblin. This was apparently not intended.
Additionally, the patch brings bug fixes for other war plan nodes, quests, dungeons, and more. You can find the full patch notes directly at Blizzard.
Even without the endless goblins, war plans in general and the nightmare dungeons in particular remain one of the best sources to farm loot and level.
