The first local part of the Pokémon GO Fest 2026 took place in Tokyo. And the participants were diligent.
While trainers worldwide still have to be patient until the global GO Fest 2026 takes place in Pokémon GO, trainers in Tokyo were able to enjoy the first local part of the big event last week. The GO Fest happened from May 29, 2026, to June 1, 2026. Participating trainers could dive into a previous event related to the GO Fest starting from May 25, 2026.
Statistics have now been released showing how diligent the trainers were at these two events. And the numbers are impressive.
Around the world – multiple times
How diligent were the trainers? Looking at the numbers published on prtimes.jp, some interesting metrics can be found here. A total of 1.71 million trainers were active throughout the Tokyo area during both events.
During this time, the players covered a distance of 31.61 million km within Tokyo. To circle the Earth, you would need to walk approximately 40,075 km. If the players had circled the Earth, they could have almost gone around it 789 times—or more than 41 times to the Moon and back.
If you calculate the distance per number of players, each trainer walked an average of a bit more than 18 km.
But not only is the players’ readiness to walk impressive: many monsters were caught as well. Trainers were able to catch approximately 439 million Pokémon. In relation to the number of trainers, each player caught about 256 monsters on average.
