Actually, the latest CGI trailer for Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 4 only introduces the Necron faction. However, there is something to see right at the beginning that probably very few know about, although it could destroy the whole world.
And no, I’m not talking about a mundane exterminatus, which “only” irreversibly destroys planets. It’s about a truly powerful weapon with unmatched destructive power.
The latest trailer for Dawn of War 4 focuses on the Necrons, one of the four starting factions that will be playable at release on September 17 – alongside the Adeptus Mechanicus, Space Marines, and Orks.

In the trailer, the Chronomancer Thothmek is seen, a ruler of the once galaxy-dominating Necrons, who are slowly awakening from their slumber. At the beginning, you see Thothmek pulling a small sphere out of something that looks like green soup.
Upon closer inspection, it turns out to be some sort of map of the galaxy, which can be interacted with. The possibility exists that it is the Celestial Orrery, the most powerful weapon in the universe – or at least a kind of replica.

What makes this map so powerful is the fact that any change has an immediate impact on reality. It is not just a piece of art; it is the galaxy, simply in miniature form, to put it simply.
An intervention in the Orrery can destroy a star along with its entire system and trigger an unpredictable chain reaction. Despite its power, the map is therefore rarely used and only with the utmost caution.
The “real” Celestial Orrery is located on the crown world of Thanatos, making it difficult to say whether what is shown in the trailer is the original or just a “kind” of Orrery. Thothmek does mention coming to the aid of the planet Kronus – where he is located, we do not know. However, since the Chronomancer physically pulls something from the map and examines it closely, at least the technology is likely the same as with the Orrery.
