Since May 2024, it has been clear that the creators of Lost Ark are working on a new MMORPG. Now there has been an official presentation, with trailers and various information. MeinMMO summarizes the most important points for you.
What has Smilegate announced in detail? Lord Nine is the new MMORPG from Smilegate and NX3 Games, set to be released in the third quarter of 2024 in Asia, for PC, Android, and iOS. A worldwide launch is planned for a later date, but there is no specific date yet.
The core features of Lord Nine are as follows:
- The MMORPG aims to offer a theme park of dungeons, raids, world bosses, large PvP battles, a pet system, and more.
- There are new classes or weapon types: brass knuckles, sword plus shield, two-handed sword, daggers, battle shield, bow, crossbow, staff, and wand.
- Apparently, the developers have visited several countries like Italy, Spain, and Mexico to scan areas in 3D and transfer them into the game this way – for the most realistic representation of the game world.
- The story revolves around the titular nine lords who fight for dominance over the continent.

Hack&Slay gameplay like in Lost Ark
How does Lord Nine play? With the announcement, the responsible parties at Smilegate and NX3 Games released a first, quite short gameplay trailer. The nearly 70 seconds already show that the player experience will strongly orient itself towards Lost Ark.
You control your hero from an isometric perspective and use comparably powerful and effect-rich strike and spell combinations, just like the classes of the already released free-to-play MMORPG. But see for yourself:
Also similar to Lost Ark: Through learned talents, you change the effect of abilities. For example, you can decide whether an attack should hit multiple enemies or just a single opponent.
And the first boss fights are also visible, where the characters must avoid area effects and deal with disruptive debuffs. Similar to the teaser trailer from March, parts of the MMORPG community are once again reacting with skepticism.
The combination of “Asian MMORPG” and “Mobile” is negatively stigmatized; moreover, Lost Ark has been struggling with several problems since the launch, such as the large number of bots roaming the servers.
